[dropcap style="font-size: 120px; color: #000000] A [/dropcap] fabulous and opinionated gay couple of a decade-plus, we decided the internet was incomplete without our voices, so we launched our first blog, Project RunGay in 2006 in order to enrich the masses with our thoughts and words. Also, because we both worked from home and kept getting annoyed with each other when we tried to have water-cooler conversations. “Did you SEE what happened on Project Runway last night?” “Honey, we were spooning on the couch together, remember?”
In truth (and this is totally not one of those “It’s an honor to be nominated” things, even if it sounds like one), we never really expected to get an audience at all. We thought we’d slap up some funny pictures and bitchy comments about Project Runway just to get it out of our systems. But an audience found us and, to our delight, encouraged us to keep posting. Since we were never the most responsible people you’ll ever meet, and since an appreciative audience applauding your efforts is always going to be more fun than actually working for a living, we kept on posting. We branched out to more general reality TV blogging, sticking to the kinds of shows we liked to watch (usually revolving around design and style), and when that got us an even bigger and more encouraging audience, branched out even further, to red carpet and runway blogging. Along the way, we picked up quite a bit of complimentary press and an ever-expanding audience that would intimidate us with its size if we weren’t such obvious attention whores.
Today, we’re essentially a pop culture blog with a special focus on celebrity and fashion. In other words, the entire blog is about those parts of pop culture that we, Tom and Lorenzo, personally find interesting; from runway shows to red carpets; Mad Men to Glee. Think of it like an extended water-cooler conversation with the two funny, bitchy gay guys you work with. And if you don’t work with any funny, bitchy gay guys, let us first offer our deepest sympathy and let us next inform you that you just found two proxy gays.
In addition to our blogging on this site, we’ve been writing television reviews for The Huffington Post and slinging celebrity interviews for the fabulous Metrosource magazine with people like Christina Hendricks, Michael Musto, Elizabeth Mitchell, Michelle Williams, Gina Gershon, Tim Gunn, Julie Brown, Lynda Carter, Sharon Gless, Gale Harold, Tyne Daly, Rita Moreno, Andy Cohen, Adam Pally, and Megan Mullally. When we can get out of the house, we’ve made appearances on Sirius OutQ Radio and the Sundance Channel’s “All on the Line with Joe Zee.”
