She’s managing to look like my crazy aunt (of which I have several) just back from some sort of peyote experience and having to go to a family wedding. Not bad – but not SJP.

    • l_c_ann

My first impression was aged hippy with money.

Prediction:  this woman will never age and somehow neither will her hair.

  • Violina23

Love the dress, HATE the necklace

    • siriuslover

My thoughts exactly. I also don’t like the eye shadow here.

  • schadenfreudelicious

the hair/necklace combination is swallowing her from the neck up…i think the dress would look better on SJP shortened..it’s a bit overwhelming for a tiny gal…

    • kimmeister

Why put on a big, bold statement necklace and then cover it up with your hair?  It’s silly.

  • quiltrx

Love the dress (and I rarely love anything she wears, except that McQueen Peacock dress in that editorial years ago)!

I even really like the necklace, but it is WRONG with this dress.  Hair looks pretty limp.  IMO purse and shoes needed to be a solid with the print dress.

  • MilaXX

It’s nice enough but i continue to dislike the center part on her. I also cannot wrap my mind around how much what looks like a maxi dress I can get from Macy’s cost with an Oscar de la Renta label.

    • 3boysful

Agreed.  I think when one is extremely thin, and has a long face, and insists on wearing center-parted long hair, it creates a real draggy-down look.

  • thecitysleeps

The necklace needs to go, Carrie.

  • Scimommy

Everything is great on their own (dress, necklace, handbag, shoes), but nothing goes together. Well, maybe the accessories all go together, but it’s kinda hard to ignore that dress!

    • sweetestsith

Agreed, great pieces but the combination is silly. If the dress were a solid (possibly more structured) dark color I think she would look fabulous (even with the silly center part).

      • Scimommy

You know, that’s exactly what I was thinking. And then I began wondering how it would look with a nicely tailored creme colored pantsuit. Hmm…

Too much necklace, too much hair, hate the purse/dress combo, and the dress itself is too Woodstock-ish for my taste or her size.  If this were an in or out, I’d be voting OUT.

  • Scarlet39

This whole look just reads “droopy” to me.  The dress (which I cannot belive is de la Renta), the hair… even the necklace is pointing downward!   It’s just not good.

  • Sara__B

Great gown, but the hair, makeup, and necklace make her look tired and dated.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

And the purse is all wrong with that dress too.

    • formerlyAnon

Totally agree, but somehow she makes tired and dated look good to me. (And I’m not a big fan). Fashion superpower, maybe?

  • nannypoo

I wonder when she’ll realize it’s time to get rid of this hair.

    • formerlyAnon

Maybe never? Because it was PAST time to get rid of that hair nearly a decade ago. Maybe it’s her one fashion blind spot.

I would not have paired that clutch (or shoes) with that dress. They’re fighting each other. She looks great in the dress though (of course!)

The potetially pretty short green satin dress in back of SJP in the first pix.  Great color for the lady wearing it.  Also a great lesson in why satin is unforgiving of figure flaws, which wouldn’t show in other finishes.

  • mhleta

Beautiful dress, but a bit too summery. The necklace is killing the look completely. Way too busy for this print. The clutch is kinda gross with the dress, too. I’m betting she flew out the door in a hurry.

  • thehousesparrow

She looks like she’s at the wrong event or something.

  • dress_up_doll

There’s a lot going on with this look and each element is fighting the other. Also, the dress seems more appropriate for a spring or summer event.

She needs to get herself a nice young hot lover. I don’t think MB is doing it for her.

  • Trisha26

    All kinds of no.

  • TieDye64

Terrible accessorizing and can you please do SOMETHING with the hair?

  • alyce1213

Nice dress.  Accessories are ALL wrong — necklace, bag, shoes, and the shmatta over her arm.

I rarely say this but she needs more body fat. She looks a bit peak-ed.

  • SewingSiren

    A little too Stella Dallas.

  • Imasewsure

I like the dress and I think I would have been ok with the necklace if she had her hair up or fine with the hair if she wasn’t wearing such a clunky necklace. I don’t like the purse at all but it’s a cute look overall.

  • KuriousKat

I think she looks gorgeous. Love the entire look.

  • formerlyAnon

I think she looks great. There’s too much going on in the hair/necklace area, I have a strong prejudice that if you have bracelets on both wrists, they should not be so symmetrical, and from a distance that clutch looks like the ugly knock off I know it isn’t. And that straggly-on-the-ends hair looks tired.

But dang, she looks great nonetheless. I like the dress, the color is good on her, the hair looks healthy and she always looks so pulled together, even if I don’t love what she’s pulling together.

  • ojosazules

I don’t know about that bag.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Meh. I’ve never been able to get on board with her style. The dress does nothing for me, and the purse (and shoes?) don’t go.

  • Judy_S

This looks like she went shopping at the Alternatives store for a made-in-India-by-a women’s-co-op dress and a made-in-Bali-by-a-women’s-co-op necklace. I kind of like the look, but I wish that’s where she’d gotten it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I love the dress, but her choice in accessories is always wrong.  Too many patterns, the necklace is huge and crazy with all that dress on her little frame.

  • jw_ny

Completely wrong necklace for this dress, and that purse clashes.   I do like the dress on her…color, pattern, length, neckline…

  • mom2ab

She needs a hair intervention- the long straggly look is aging and does nothing to flatter her face and her other go to jiffy pop on top is not much better.  Time to grow up and get a hair cut like a big girl.  And the dress would be much better knee length.

  • aristida_girl

I think this look suits her well, she should stick to the boho thing…

  • foggynight

I like the dress’ print, but she really went overboard with the accessories. Get rid of that necklace, pick a simpler bag that doesn’t fight with the dress, and stop carrying around that weird sparkly shawl thing and I’d like it.

  • B_C_J

This is not a Carnegie Hall opening night gala type of dress. The dress is underwhelming and she looks underdressed as a result.

  • aumerle9

HATE the Comicon/Renaissance Pleasure Faire “chainmaille” necklace.
