That’s Not Her Dress *and* That’s Not His Suit.

    • MilaXX

He’s a handsome man, but that jacket is definitely too small.

  • marilyn

She is fine from the neck down.  Her makeup and hair are too informal for this dress.  Since she did not want to use the sheer scarf in the chest area, she could have used a necklace of some kind.

I like it. I think she looks great. But I LOVE HER, so maybe I’m biased.

    • gabbilevy

Me too, I’m afraid. Biased, I mean.

      • kikisayshi

         Me three!

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Yeah, I’ve had a girl-crush on her since Mosquito Coast, but I do think she looks great.

          • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I don’t have a crush on her, but she looks so darn happy and glowy, I can’t say anything negative about her.  Happy and glowy usually trumps any wardrobe problems.  :)

Moving the sheer fabric further down changes the look of the gown’s top, and not for the better. I would have suggested removing it completely if having it around the neck was bothersome. Also not sure how I feel about the skirt-puddle; I like trains, but in this instance, I feel like chopping that fabric off.

Yet the skirt is so shimmery and lovely that I can’t help but applaud Princess Puffysleeve’s ongoing success.

But Martha: hairdressers. Look into them.

  • BuffaloBarbara

I like the dress, but it looks like her head in a casual moment has been Photoshopped onto a formal dress.

  • gabbilevy

A good effort, but I think she’s just too short for this dress. Too bad, because it’s gorgeous. What are those ribbons for?

  • ojosazules

I don’t think that’s her dress. Why does she have the scarlet letter pinned to her bosom?

    • poggi

She started an organization called A is For to highlight feminist issues and awareness of recent challenges to areas of women’s rights. I think she was motivated by the Sandra Fluke controversy.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

That is awesome of her, and now I love her even more.

Also, she should have zhuhed the hair and makeup more, but she looks great in the dress. She has a killer body.

        • poggi

I know. Me too. You are so right. She needs better hair and makeup. But even her fashion half-assedness makes me like her more.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

That is super awesome. But the atheists kind of beat her to it. A red “A” is their unofficial symbol.

        • poggi

Hers is a little swooshier than the slanted Atheist ‘A’ and it is a lapel ribbon. It’s kind of fascinating how the whole awareness ribbon thing started, including the the yellow ribbons on trees during the Iranian hostage crisis to the use of red lapel ribbons for AIDS awareness created by the Visual AIDS Artists’ Caucus in 1991.

There is now an entire industry built around awareness lapel ribbons and pins.

It is odd… and unfortunate, because most money raised by “awareness ribbons” usually winds up in someone’s pockets, rather than going to the cause itself. But anyway, it is a lovely and artfully done “A” ribbon. Can’t wait to see if they carry over to the non-schmemmy Emmys. :)

I’m not loving her hair, and I think the dress deserved some bolder makeup, but I really like it!

  • BeeBeauNYC

    Lordy that’s a handsome fella.

    • Rebecca J.

I know.  He looks like a Superman.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/2LIE6ISFQUBIAO7OB6U5TAVXXQ Depot'er

Gad, is that a nipple showing? a mole? was it 100 degrees? she looks like she is sweating off her make up.

    • http://twitter.com/Sugarbeetle Sugarbeetle

It looks like the boning is poking her and it’s creating a shadow with the camera. Or, it could be a nipple in a very strange place.

  • MilaXX

Not sure I like the hair, but the dress looks great on her.

  • Scarlet39

The sheer fabric should have been worn as it is on the runway.  And the dress is just too long on her.  She looks like she’s melting into a puddle.

  • frannyprof

I actually love this look. Like other BKs, I’m biased, but I can admit she hasn’t had a lot of great looks on the RC. Too bad about the hair and makeup. It was hotter than heck this weekend in L.A., and it looks like the heat took its toll on her. But the dress is stunning (if a little low in the boob area).

  • NC_Meg

Did she cut her hair or is it just pulled back? Her wavy/curly bob always looks so cute on Raising Hope but I do not like what’s going on here. The dress is gorgeous, though!

  • Tatiana Luján

The dress is too long for her and, though the skirt is pretty, the top is very ugly.

    • Lilithcat

though the skirt is pretty, the top is very ugly.

I thought just the opposite!  I saw the thumbnail and thought, “what a pretty dress”, and then I saw the full-length shot and changed my mind.

  • quiltrx

LUV HUH, and that’s a great dress.  Hair looks really messy…not sure if it’s ‘outside hair’ or just not too well styled.

  • Imasewsure

Love her too and I think she looks really pretty but it’s too much dress

  • Trisha26

Beautiful dress – not sure what’s going on above her red “A” but it looks painful. Her makeup looks non-existent and she’s very shiny – but it was over 100 in LA Saturday – so I’ll give her a pass.

  • http://profiles.google.com/diana.ruskin Diana Ruskin

Wow, Hester Prynne’s all glammed up. The Scarlet Letter never looked so fabulous, dahlink.

  • teensmom99

I loved it.  I didn’t even think there was a question until I read the comments.  A dark lip would have been even better but this is great.

  • unbornfawn

Who cares about her dress. He’s looking pretty dapper!

  • zbkat

The fit is great and she is beautiful…but she looks uncomfortable.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

The dress is too long and the drape-y stuff all over her arms looks ridiculous. I wished it fit her and it was just a strapless, it would be stunning.

  • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

Red carpet in the daytime with the sun beating down just looks silly and uncomfortable. I like her look from the waist up. The skirt fabric looks cheap.

  • Cheesely

I think this dress is quite amazing. It looks beautiful on her, it does seem a bit long for real life, but this isn’t exactly real life. I do like the sheer part better on the model, but she probably wanted to give some boob, so I get it. Her hair looks a little cray-cray, but other than that, I think this is a great look.

  • Call me Bee

I am also a bit biased becasue I love her, but I think she looks beauitful.  It’s a gorgeous dress, her hair and makeup are fine (though her face looks a bit harsh in these photos due to the intense sunshine…) and she looks relaxed and happy.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I’m digging it. I like the short hair with the dangly earrings and shoulders on display. I think they should have definitely taken the length up a bit to account for the fact that she’s not super tall, but her body looks great. What she really needed here was some dramatic makeup.

  • BobStPaul

I think she looks great.  In fact, I prefer the dress on her to how it appears on the model.

  • SophieCollier

That is some sad looking netting at the top. Must have been itchy and so she scrunched it all down.  If the skirt had been hemmed and the netting properly adjusted, this could have been a good look, or at least not a tragic one.

His ill-fitting suit isn’t worth discussion.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ENBX3563Q4ZNCVRGSJVFIB7OAA Thom

i dig it in a ’21st-century Mae West’ kind of way. Unfortunately, her bustline is cut too low. An extra 3/4 inch would make her seem better contained.

  • ChelseaNH

That’s kinda her dress (the bottom more than the top) but that’s definitely not her lighting.

  • lucasuk82

Love the shoulder detail and beading – but why does MP’s make up always look like she fell asleep on the beach?  Also, the fit at the bust is doing something strange; at first I thought we had a drifting nipple.  I think MP needs a dress with which she can wear a bra.
