  • http://twitter.com/rvshepherd Robin

Wasn’t she supposed to wear the dress he made her? And what’s up with those shoes?!

    • http://www.facebook.com/katiewolf2002 Katie Wolf

       What’s with almost everyone’s shoes?

  • http://twitter.com/shinobi42 Shinobi

Could Kenly be weirder? Says an already pretty weird person.

  • http://www.facebook.com/katiewolf2002 Katie Wolf

    Last picture: of course.

    • Pinup Ghoul

I love Kenley’s personal style (for the most part) but when she strikes these kinds of poses at professional events, she comes across as insecure about how she presents herself. It’s kind of icky. Kenley, you’re so cute! You look amazing! Stop posing like a 14-year old starlet with no manners!

    • you’renotmysupervisor!!

on the livestream, you could hear the photo corps yelling at her to stop posing and just twirl- it was hilarious.

  • Hermione_Granger

WTF with those shoes and that bag?

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I just noticed the bag. Yep, it’s atrociously inappropriate too.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

The vintage (?) bag is cute, but I agree, wrong for this outfit. And there is no universe in which those shoes are acceptable.

    • Call me Bee

Maybe that’s all that was left on the Lord and Taylor accessory wall…

      • SignLadyB

        In her size (hee hee)

  • akprincess72

    & HIDEOUS shoes…

  • Susan Collier

    Oh. That was pointless.

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Wrong accessories for that dress, but I love the dress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1230057270 Allie Carter

Those shoes are HORRIFYING. And I’m a girl who loves a good lace-up.

  • http://twitter.com/_karenbee_ Karen

There is nothing redeeming about that dress.

    • turtleemily

It looks like it’s eating her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

I hate the shoes. Other than that… of course it has roses all over it.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Remember, it was designed by “Origami Rose” himself.

      • MoHub

And the bodice is a total pleat-fest.

    • miagain

The red rose used to be Lord & Taylor’s symbol…

  • SatelliteAlice

What happened to her blue folded thing…

  • http://twitter.com/phd_tv Heather Barkman

    Well, that was pointless.

  • http://twitter.com/juliafoxtrot Julia Fox

Shoes are adorable, just not with that dress. A dress which, by the way, is pretty awful. The length is weird and the top looks like it doesn’t fit her. It’s too much pattern for that much folding.

    • Pinup Ghoul

Agreed, the print is beautiful, but just too much for such a voluminous silhouette.

    • you’renotmysupervisor!!

Makes me wonder if it’s not a Kenley original print…..

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1183772509 Jen Hughes

    Yeah, not even close really.

  • Anathema_Device

Well, it does translate well to floral, but it still doesn’t look formal enough for the Emmys. The shoes are stupid with it.

  • MoHub

This isn’t even close to what was designed for the show. Can you guys add a photo of the original challenge-winning design so we can compare and contrast?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=661256074 Mars Tokyo

Seriously! the dress on the show had a high boat neck and this thing is strapless. Looks like you could pull down the front and show her boobies, like there’s nothing holding it up.

    • MoHub

Thank you, T-Lo, for adding the link to the original! The final dress is even further from the original than I recalled.

  • tignor

I’d love to see a flower printed car. That was half the freaking challenge. UGH

    • MoHub

I had flowers all over my first car. But that was in 1969.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

These shoes in particular are extra-special hideous. Seriously, WTF was she or he thinking? My eyes keeps being drawn to those clodhoppers.

As for the dress, it’s a beautiful dress, and WAY more appropriate for the Emmys than the one Ven actually won with, but agreed that it totally doesn’t count to MAKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DRESS.

  • stardust462

It looks like the same dress in a print, I think? I’m confused. Plus, I don’t think anyone could find a worse pair of shoes to wear with this dress. Utterly hideous. I can’t imagine them working with any dress – they belong with a pair of pants or jeans.

    • tignor

close, but no. Flower print over navy, longer skirt, and sleeveless.

    • AR16

They belong with a bottle of lighter fluid and a match.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=559324312 Pablo Ulloa

    horrible like their personalities

  • http://profiles.google.com/clarinetpower Ronica Skarphol Brownson

There must have been a challenge we missed: take your Grandma’s couch, and make a dress out of it. Bonus points for adding heels to the shoes of Grandpa, who is currently napping on it.

    Hiddy.

  • DinaSews

That dress doesn’t look anything like the dress he made.  It’s not just a different fabric but a different style too.

  • EverybodysStarling

    The shoes… just no.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

It is hard to see the dress from the floral. Still it is a pretty dress with awful shoes and way too much Kenley….

  • siriuslover

Just yuk. And couldn’t Ven even smile for the Emmys? Seriously?

  • xmixiex

i’m surprised that he didn’t find her too “fat” to wear his dress.  end (true) cliche.

  • deathandthestrawberry

I really like the dress, but no. It’s not the same dress. Kenley seems really full of herself. I bet Ven hated her. Hee.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=578017037 Renee Campbell

UGH those shoes are THE WORST!

  • jmorino08

Wow! That is not even close!

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

These two should get an Emmy for most annoying people on the planet!!!  And you could hurt someone with those shoes!!!

    • l_c_ann

No, they aren’t the most annoying people on the planet.  They were in a large room filled with egos even larger than theirs.  I doubt the were even in the top 250 most annoying.

  • lilibetp

Have any of them ever been worn the way they were originally designed?  Even the Nancy O’Dell dress was changed.

    • MilaXX

True, but this is the most changed. Usually the dress still bears some resemblance go the original.

    • Call me Bee

Iman wore Daniel V’s dress on the RC and it was pretty much as he designed it for PR. Same color, fabric and style.

    • MoHub

Nick’s Barbie outfit was pretty much reproduced verbatim.

  • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

So it’s not the same dress. Must be another F*** U to the judges then. Love it, love the dress. No clue about the shoes.

    • EverybodysStarling

Actually, this could be. I can totally see in my head how Ven talks trash about the judges and offers Kenley to make another Origami-Dress and to be super-assholy about it, he does it in that rose print.

  • crash1212

Hey wait. I thought the deal was she had to wear the WINNING dress. What a crock. Although, I do like this one way better. Wonder who designed it.

  • TheLaurenJean

    Well, it’s a dress…

  • michelle shields

    Grandma’s couch.

  • dorothea_brooke

I like the dress; she looks good in it. (Ignoring the accessories.)  Whatever, he made her a different dress.  They always do that.  If I have a choice between a dress made in 3 hours or a *real* dress, I’d take the latter given the chance.  Rules schmules.

  • EditKitten

Oh, good, exactly what I wanted to see — two assholes at once.

The dress is pretty fabulous, actually, but her shoes are fucking atrocious, her hair is so expected, and her facial expressions … girl, you just look obnoxious. And I hate the bag.

  • BrooklynBomber

    Kenley! Those shoes!!!

  • UsedtobeEP

Why even bother with the challenge when the dress looks almost nothing like the winning garment?

  • 3boysful

So is Lexus pissed that it’s not the color of one of their cars?
And gee, this is  pretty different from his winning design, no?

  • BrooklynBomber

I think I prefer the original dress, but this is more dramatic an emmy-worthy. The shoes would go better w/ the blue dress, color-wise, but still totally wrong; they would be better under jeans or lost in the back of the closet.

  • Rand Ortega

When did “unique” become another word for ugly? I see so many on the RC breaking their necks to be “edgy” or “interesting”, etc. & they just succeed in looking straight out horrid.
PS: Kenley, the bloom is off the rose. All of them. & not just on the dress.

  • http://dentsdelait.tumblr.com/ Nancy Marion

    UGH VENLEY

    • alyce1213

      A thousand Likes.
      Thank you.

    • guest2visits

Even though I disagree and actually like this outfit on her; I can not help but applaud your genius. (lmao).

      • http://dentsdelait.tumblr.com/ Nancy Marion

Her personal style is generally cute, but I would totally throw a (fake, glass and spike-stuffed) cat right back at her. Repellent.

The dress itself is quite nice. BUT, it’s so hard to see the underlying bust support structure that I imagine the fabric is basically the hedge to her boobs’ house—just hovering in front, but if you stood above her, you could see it all. (Especially with that last shot.)

  • janetjb

Well…it’s nice to see Ven can make a nice dress out of a print.

  • nannypoo

I had forgotten about these two assholes.

  • VRuss

LOL… Yeah, what happened to the original??? She is still wearing an origami rose dress, and those shoes are too weird… I would almost like it if she wore some strappy sandals or maybe some delicate red pumps.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1248212910 Jessie Melcher Brown

The fabric is different, it is now strapless instead of cap sleeves and the pleating is different.  And he has a sour puss.  Maybe Kenley could throw a cat at him?

  • ojosazules

Isn’t it cheating if the dress isn’t the dress? The other dress wasn’t right for the Emmys, but that’s ok, she doesn’t have to wear it to the Emmys?
The shoes, besides sucking, don’t match the dress.

  • http://julia-here.livejournal.com/ Julia

It could be much worse: we could have to listen to her voice.

  • VRuss

Not even close to the original! At all… Although the shoes she is wearing in PR are so much more better for any of the dresses!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NMLK23QK6C7NMLMVVYA5POXKJY WhiteMage

no commentary? it’s a totally different dress! do you guys know why? is that a normal reality show thing?

  • Judy_S

Comparing how Heidi looks to how Kenley looks at the same event, they seem like different species (of pretty girl).

  • mhleta

Not feeling those shoes for a red carpet event at all. Hob-nailed engineer boots would have been just as bad.

    • Pinup Ghoul

I’d drive it. I love this print, but I’m a sucker for bright florals.

    • l_c_ann

Dear Lord, I had forgotten why Ven made the dress deep blue.  Where DOES the Lexus tie-in fit now?

  • sk8tfan

I like the dress; I liked the original dress as well. By why did Kenley mug the local librarian and steal her shoes?

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

fab dress fug shoes omg so awful

  • MilaXX

The reworked dress looks more appropriate for the event, but wtf? With the shoes. Also Ven making that dress out of a rose pattern is laughable. One way monkey indeed.

  • http://twitter.com/angelestrails Natasha

Pretty dress even if it fits into the “of course” category, awful shoes (for that dress), unpleasant personalities.

  • Kyle Crawford

The shoes make the baby Jesus cry.

  • MzzPants

I love the dress.  But why are these two invited to the Emmys???

    • Coco Cornejo

Project Runway was up for an Emmy. They were part of the show’s entourage.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/DNWEFT2SVBX5T3NPMROQCT4U2U jennyv

    Yeesh. What a couple.

  • Judy_J

Man, those are some ugly-ass shoes.

  • Sally3000

I think Kenley looks great in that dress and it suits her style well. It’s a more subtle rendering of Venn’s origami technique. Normally I find his folded garments too heavy and old fashioned, but not in this case.

  • greyhoundgirl

This is a Very Big Dress.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

Those shoes and handbag are absolutely hilarious. The dress is kind of sweet, but the tailoring is horrendous. It’s like a wall of floral.

  • GorgeousThings

Yup – pure upholstery, with the fugliest shoes of the evening. Yuck.

  • miatamam

would make a great couch though.

  • random_poster

This is why the dress designed for April should have won.  That dress was red-carpet-ready and needed no changes.  Melissa and Dmitry should be handed a retroactive win.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

This is not even close to the other dress.  I do quite love it, but those shoes, and that bag. No girl, just no.

  • http://twitter.com/anairbb Briana Blanchard

The dress is ehhh, but Kenley, all your accessories (shoes, bag, Ven) are evil and must be destroyed.

  • turtleemily

If they dated, we could call them Venley.

    • l_c_ann

      Or Kenduh.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I know it sounds really petty, but I hope they had the worst seats in the house, lol.

  • LinXGUA

Roses. A match made in … Well, a match nonetheless.

  • Imasewsure

I don’t like her at all but I thought the dress was great. Shoes were different (not good necessarily but not toe-killing LB’s at least). I like it. Might be too casual though….

  • jonnyf8

Ven would have never by choice made a dress in a print.  I’m guessing Kenley took Ven’s dress apart and then used it to cut it in the fabric she wanted.  He shows up and she says “surprise, see how much better this is!!!!” because she’s that kind of girl.  Let’s face it, she gave such clear directives on what she wanted that basically the only thing he did was add a couple of pleats.  Good job Kenley!!!

  • KELLEYKAT

WTF???  ummm, not the same dress!  I do like this dress though!  It does seem “Kenley”.  But those shoes…why oh why???  And if it was that hot there, ew, I can smell stank foot from here!!!

  • Zippypie

WTF is right.  It’s completely a different dress.  Not just the fabric, but the bodice.  That is just wrong.  What, Lifetime didn’t think the “fans” of the show wouldn’t notice?

    • l_c_ann

Lifetime may not notice that the remaining fans DO notice.

Remember the ‘costume’ for the broadway play….they only used the jacket and sort of used it at that.

It’s just plain wrong to say one thing and do another.
Hell, she might as well have worn a see through full skirt with flurchon covered knickers.

  • Scarlet39

    Ugh, these two assholes.

So what was the point of that challenge if a completely different dress was going to be worn?

    • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

      EXACTLY…ON EACH POINT

  • http://twitter.com/omg_dora Dora K.

HI I AM KENLEY I AM QUIRKY AND SPUNKY AND SASSY AND QUIRKY SEE HOW QUIRKY MY SHOES ARE

God, I want to slap her so hard.

    • alyce1213

      . . . and YOUNG and FRESH and EDGY and MODERN ! ! ! !

      I’m right behind you.

      • janierainie

        Don’t forget FASHION FORWARD!!!!

        • alyce1213

Yep. How could I forget that?

  • ccm800

    Cute though

  • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Krysta

Hate the shoes.  Original dress was better–the cool folding gets lost in the print–although original dress did not look Emmysey atall.

  • sashaychante

Not sure if anyone else caught this, but saw the E channel red carpet coverage.  During one of the celeb interviews Kenley was in the far background twirling in this dress in the middle of the red carpet crowd.  Could tell it was her from miles away…ha!  Look at me…I’m KENLEY!

    • Pinup Ghoul

I really hate that about her. She quite literally wears her insecurities on her sleeve. I think that, to pull of an authentic vintage look, one must have the poise that goes with the time period. Kenley is an absolutely beautiful and talented creature, but she often comes across as a girl, not a lady, which is a shame. She could really be a force to be reckoned with, but it seems like she’s just riding her 15 minutes of fame, instead of using it as a foundation to grow.

      • letter_M

You give her way too much credit. She truly is a dingbat.

        • Pinup Ghoul

She is, but she’s pretty and I think she’s a talented designer.

  • neofashionista

I really like it but the shoes are wrong

  • alyce1213

I like the (new) dress, but those shoes! Gaaaah!

  • guest2visits

I loved all of this; shoes, bag, dress. It suits her completely.  And I’m sure she DESIGNED it; completely.  So… good work Ven.
(although Ven managed to get both his roses and his folds on one dress: but in Kenley style.)

  • DCSheehan

This is totally Kenley. I have no problem with them remaking the dress, she’s effectively wearing the design rather than the garment that was rushed out.

Also, Ven is totally the hottest contestant in PR history so I am biased as a result. Drool.

    • Kristin McNamara

      WHAT?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=664429801 Kate Clausen

        *crickets chirping*
Well, to each her (or his?) own.  I don’t see it, though.

  • formerlyAnon

I liked the bodice of the original dress better.

Those shoes are WRONG and the ‘neck’line of this dress is an inch too low, IMO.

But I think it’s a lovely print for Kenley’s coloring and she looks better than some of the stars.

  • Kyle Sarabia

oh. my. god. is that a origami rose. on the bust. on a dress made with A FLORAL PRINT?

  • holdmewhileimnaked

many times better than the original dress. rose & curtains, at least it’s not dull. otoh, i own many many variations on the shoes. many many pairs of the originals–which were nina’s, btw, until they were copied by wild pair & vin baker & on & on–&, you know what? those shoes, not one pair of them, would work here. totally wrong. she wants to go platforms she needs a big strappy sandal wedge. not glitter rock schoolboy shoes. who the h-e-1+1 told her to put those on?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=667203651 Susan Stroud Lloyd

I LOVE it.  The skirt is KILLA (crinoline!)  Adore the print as well…I mean, I guess I don’t have a problem with her changing things up – the judges even admitted they could only kinda, sorta see the original dress at the Emmys.  Of course, Ven looks like a Lumpy Space Princess (who just rolled out of bed), per usual.

  • quiltrx

She looks really beautiful…I always liked her in a way, in spite of everyone else.

But those shoes?  They’re like the mental hospital of hiddy shoes.

  • Vodeeodoe

A good percentage of the time the winning challenges for wearable or sellable clothes are altered before the actual event. I couldn’t figure out why Ven won for that challenge, because a televised awards show is not a place to wear a cute, yet conservative dress. They used the other fabric for pop, which made his design unreadable, but the flower dress was way more memorable than his PR dress. Remember Heidi wearing Mondo’s losing dress that she championed, to some awards show and she had it altered for her own personal tastes (I think she had it sleeveless, or something like that)?

  • SewingSiren

    Perfect dress for her.

  • http://www.thirteen.org/insidethirteen Gotham Tomato

Yeah, but you just know that Kenley doesn’t do what Kenley doesn’t want to do and if she wanted something different, I’d bet she made Ven’s life (and that of everyone else within earshot) a living hell til she dot what she wanted.

    –GothamTomato

    • letter_M

      BINGO

  • Call me Bee

It is the perfect dress for her and the length is vintage Lucille Ball. The shoes have got to go!

  • unbornfawn

Great dress. But in no way the dress that won the challenge. Shenanigans!  Ugly shoes. Kenley doesn’t know how to pose and Ven looks like a sourpuss!

  • https://twitter.com/LisaF1163 Lisa

Wait, what?  That’s not the dress he made for her – I thought that was the whole point of the challenge.

Plus, yeah, it’s a perfect dress for her, but it borders on “costumey”.  And count me in on the shoe haters!

  • Joyce VG

It’s not a bad dress. It’s a scroll down fug for sure because those shoes are comical.  Oh and the purse is bad too.

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

    HAHAHA. I’m sorry I can’t.

Flowers on a flower dress. Of course.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

    Those shoes are absolutely TRAGIC.

  • granddelusion

That is not the dress I remember. And I’m disappointed at the lack of TLo commentary!

  • http://twitter.com/connectinglines Me Again

Her poses are ridiculous and the shoes are criminally bad, but credit where it’s due – the dress looks amazing, and her hair and makeup are also pretty stellar.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=751285857 Sally Brownson

Well, the print improved the dress over the navy version about 10 kajillion times.

  • Coralie Legister

She fucked up the whole look with the hipster shoes. They make her look short and dumpy and I’m sure she’s neither. She is, however, annoying as fuck.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Only slightly related to the one he designed, but the changes do make it more appropriate for the Emmys. Not a great dress but perfect for Kenley.

  • DCSheehan

Given his auf from PR, I’m seeing Ven’s final collection and this rose print as a middle finger to the judges. ‘You didn’t like my roses? Well here’s more roses than you can handle, bitches!’.

  • SignLadyB

Huh?  This is a pure Ven dress but it’s NOTHING like the one on PR except maybe the full skirt. Ven origami rose, pleating etc. About the only thing I can say is the bright print is fun and different. But how does this fulfill the contract that she was going to wear the ‘winning’ creation?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=664429801 Kate Clausen

This dress is very Kenley, and I think it suits her.  But add me to the chorus of WTF? with the shoes and purse.  But especially the shoes.

  • MilaXX

Can I say I find it hysterical that Ven’s suit isn’t well fitted either? Not horribly, but the pants are a skoosh too long and the jacket sleeves are too long. For someone who claims to be so precise and meticulous to detail I find it funny that he looks like a 5th grader on Easter Sunday.
I’ve seen many of the looks designers have made for these challenges be a little altered before, but this is the first time that I have seen the look be completely unrecognizable from the winning design. This also make me appreciate season 9 Kimberly’s skill a bit more since other than a bit of tailoring the outfit she made Nina looked like what we saw on the runway.

  • MilaXX

I think the dress speaks for itself.

  • miagain

Ven looks like he’s having one heck of a fun evening!
I can not believe that guy is 28…. he’s 20 going on 58…sheesh!

  • carpediva

I generally hate florals but that’s a pretty great dress ruined by a) shoes, and b) posing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1107502269 Chuck Barthelme

Thumbs down, if only for violating the Runway challenge and not actually wearing the dress. And I really can’t picture an odder couple than these two. He doesn’t have any personality, and hers is too acidic.

  • Jasmaree

It’s the same dress! Kenley just took away the sleeves, changed the pleating, made the skirt fuller, lengthened the hem, and changed the fabric completely. Otherwise, they’re completely the same.

  • ThaliaMenninger

    Such a cheat.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/LDLAR46P3U6ZK5QDLWOCISTDGA Maria B

Geez, I though Nancy O’Dell changed her Wendy Pepper dress first season. At least then you could still see some of the original design. This, however, is an entirely different dress. Also, hate the shoes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Louise-Bryan/1177213326 Louise Bryan

Wow.  Those shoes are amazing.  Grandma’s orthopedic ankle-breakers.  I like the dress better in this print.  Ven looks resentful as usual. Unfortunate purse.

  • CarolinLA

I’d love to know what the story is about how it got changed.  Why were they at the Emmys anyway?  Just representing the show?

  • blondie65

Dmitry & Melissa were robbed.  Hell, Nathan & Sonjia were robbed as far as I’m concerned.  And yes, HATE THE SHOES.

  • Truly_Outrageous

Yeah what happened? But I actually kinda like this dress a teensy bit more. Maybe its because Im a sucker for floral print.

  • http://twitter.com/JackieNooner Jackie Nooner

I actually like the fabric and love the idea of being thrown for a loop stylewise.  But without a belt, it doesn’t give Kenley much of her curvy shape.  I liked the original dress that Ven designed for her.  But this is Kenley: if she didn’t like it, she wouldn’t have worn it or she would have tailored it to her liking.  Do you Kenley.
