Oh I likey.  Salsa-hot dress with mojito shoes!  ¡Caliente!

  • Patricia Gillett

She’s rocking the dress and jewelry but I’m lukewarm on the shoes. Love how this color makes her glow. No boring beige frocks for Miss Viola!

  • http://twitter.com/msjwatt J.Watt

That’s a beautiful color on her. Just lovely.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

The only thing I don’t love about this is the cuff bracelet on her forearm. It makes it look like she has a price tag on her.

    • kimmeister

That is, indeed, strange bracelet placement.

  • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

Those shoes in the model photo have got to be the fugliest things I’ve seen in a long time.

Viola looks lovely, great dress in a fab color though I’m ambivalent on the shoes.

    • schadenfreudelicious

good gawd yes, what exactly are those things on her feet??

      • kimmeister

        They’re like podiatric straitjackets.

  • SewingSiren

Love everything, ‘cept  one of her sleeves is flipped.

  • MilaXX

Pretty standard look for her. Dress fits nicely, love the shoes, hate the wispy things on the hair & the blush is a tad too heavy.

  • nannypoo

Those are some butt-ugly shoes, but the dress is perfect on her. Tasteful and pretty. Whoever is holding her purse should have adjusted the little shoulder detail for her.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I like the dress – it’s a simple and elegant silhouette that works for her – but the way that the sleeves are a little off kinda annoys me. A little minor adjustment, and it would be perfect. And those are some awesome shoes.

  • GillianHolroyd

That is a sharp-looking dress but I am not as thrilled with the color as y’all. to me it looks faded. I wish it were a more intense shade of coral.

    • Nayasabrina

I suspect the images are overexposed, particularly the longer shots in front of the white background.  You can see the coral seems brighter in the pic in which Viola fills most of the frame.  Tough shot to do well, us dark skinned people in front of a white background; either you look washed out, as here, or like the proverbial raisin in the sun….

  • Samuel Donovan

    She looks bizarrely barefoot.

  • sagecreek

    I don’t see why this wasn’t a WERQ.

Well, okay, I do, but it’s ALMOST a WERQ!

  • Scarlet39

I don’t like this at all.  The color seems off, the shoes look odd, andi think her makeup is bad too.

  • NDC_IPCentral

Love that coral color – I think it’s flattering on most everyone, but especially women of color.  It really pops.

What in the Sam Hill is going on with the shoes?  The front sole of both seem to be extending way beyond  Ms. Davis’ toes, and the left one appears to be so ill-fitted that it almost looks as though she has the right shoe on the left foot.

Getting loaner shoes clearly isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

    • 3boysful

Re: shoes–Exactly–why are they so long on her??  Otherwise I don’t mind them, as they spunk up a dress that while pretty and flattering, would look plain.  Borrow some that fit!

Hope you’re feeling good today, NDC!

      • NDC_IPCentral

Hi, 3boysful!  Thanks for asking – I have been feeling pretty unremittingly lousy since Thursday morning; less so today, so far, but not rip-roarin’.  I have my second-to-last infusion tomorrow if my blood levels qualify, so I’m tolerating present discomfort for the longer-term goal.

I truly do not think that the soles of the Brian Atwood sandals were designed to follow the shape of a woman’s foot – certainly not Ms. Davis’.  Whether it’s a matter of wrong size or poor design, the result’s the same: head-scratching photo that needs ‘splainin’.

    • janetjb

I’m tired of listening to myself complain about ill-fitting shoes.  Thank you for saying it all for me.

  • Tatiana Luján

What the hell did she put on her skin that makes it so artificially shiny?

  • http://twitter.com/juliafoxtrot Julia Fox

    Those are some ugly shoes!

  • Judy_J

Great color, and it’s a very flattering style.  The shoes don’t appear to fit properly, and the shoulders on the dress need adjusting.

  • Rebecca Johnson

A visual definition of scrolldown fug.

  • Vlasta Bubinka

she’s so fabulous, she shuts down my poetry.

  • greyhoundgirl

She looks fabulous.  Ignoring the regrettable shoes.  Can’t wait to see her new movie.

  • CYVH9000

    Killer shoes. She looks gorgeous.

  • Coralie Legister

I’m not a fan of Viola’s shoes from the front but they’re stunning compared with the model’s flesh-coloured clogs. Ew!

Digging her hair and make-up here. Looks so FRESH to match the fresh dress. I love the shoes but they feel a tad discordant.. it may be the toes precariously perched on the edge. Overall AMAZING. Interesting to note that she looks 10-20 years YOUNGER that Maggie does at the same event.

  • frannyprof

Love the color on her, but this could have looked much better with different accessories (those shoes!) and hair.

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

The dress looks great on her, but I don’t care for the shoes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I cannot sign off on those shoes.  Dress is pretty standard.

  • Lilithcat

Shouldn’t a mojito sandal be lime green?

  • AlexisPayne

Scroll down fug, I hate those sandals. Otherwise perfect.

  • Amy Ellinger

She has a tendency to let her girls hang out, glad they’re covered. This is so CLASSY yet subtle sexy mama….until you get to the shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

ACK! This dress is not as flattering as it should be, it is a weird, salmon-y color and those shoes are fugly. Put it away, lady.

  • formerlyAnon

Ten thousand kudos for the dress. The hair is a tad off-kilter and now that I’ve seen how good she looks with it short & natural, seems pedestrian.

  • marilyn

Good color for her, and makes her very curvey.  She did not over-accessorize.  Good overall dress.

  • allisankelly

She looks great. The dress looks salmon/coral on my screen, and it’s a great color on her.

My only deduction is the shoes are better in theory than in practice.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ali.sharpe.6 Ali Sharpe

Nice! Not revolutionary, or anything, but it fits her well. I like the shoes, but I don’t know if they totally go with the dress.

Dress, hair and makeup are flawless. This is a good example of why I don’t like almond-toe shoes: they don’t fit anyone’s feet. No one has feet shaped like that, so one’s outer toes always hang over the side.

  • VicksieDo

LOVE the dress, hair, makeup, HATE the shoe.  ICK, that would feel like bugs on your feet.

  • TAGinMO

Not a huge fan of the shoes and the left-shoulder strap sets off my OCD, but as (almost) always, she looks good, polished, and put-together.

  • guest2visits

I love this dress and it looks fantastic on her.  I’m half on with the shoes, they may look so much better in person.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

    Simple. Chic.  WERQ

  • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

    Clown make-up.

  • LinXGUA

I don’t like that color on her?
This in a dark-er red, or in a bright blue, or even yellow! would be great. Anything but this.

  • Maluca

I like it, but she needs some blotting papers.

  • miagain

    wow

  • alyce1213

The dress fits her well, it’s nice, but I can’t with that wig.  It looks like a fake-hair novelty bathing cap.
Natural, Viola.  You really look best that way.  Save the wigs for playing characters.

  • jmorino08

I had to look twice to make sure she and the model were wearing the same dress. She looks a little too buff and hard-edged in this and losing the effect of the shoulder straps doesn’t help. Beautiful lady, make the most of your myriad assets, don’t let a bad haircut steal your thunder!!

  • TieDye64

Not digging the cuff or the wig. Still, girl is HOT.
