Well. I think hell just froze over – because I actually like this dress and it’s by that horrible Stella person. Wow. I think I need a nap. Also…she looks WAY cute. I like this look head to toe.

  • cmb92191

The bustline and up is cute.. but some of this dress is covered in ugly 70′s sofa!

  • Joyce VG

Meh. It could be MUCH worse.

  • MarissaLG

    Not feeling the hair, lizzy.

    • Squarah

Same, I don’t think it does her justice.

  • theblondette

Dress looks way better on her than it does on the model! And it works pretty well for sitting down, unlike many dresses we’ve seen lately…

    • lovelyivy

This dress seems made to highlight those of us blessed with some curves.

Like the bottom – how it flips. Don’t like the color blocking – wrong colors

  • FashionShowAtLunch

    She is just sooooo pretty.

  • onyxkatze

Yes! There’s the grown-up, glammed-up Janis Ian I’ve been waiting for! She looks wonderful from head to toe, even managing to pull off those intensely painful-looking shoes.

I’m not particularly fond of the different fabrics in the dress – it looks like Stella just pieced together a bunch of scrap fabric that she had laying around. BUT, the silhouette is great, and the shoes are TO. DIE.

She could have used a little product to smooth the flyaways, and perhaps a bolder lip, but altogether I think she looks really good!

  • kerry dee

    WERQ!!!

  • Patricia Gillett

Huzzah, I think we finally found someone who looks good in a Stella McCartney design! And the shoes work too! What are the odds?

  • NC_Meg

See, I saw this and said, “Stella. Of course.” You can do SO MUCH BETTER, Lizzie. That is an awful dress.

  • muzan-e

If anyone was ever made to wear a dress that Suzie Bird had modeled, it was probably Lisa Kaplan.  And now that my two raging girl-crushes have materialised in a single post, I’ll uh. I’ll need a quiet moment here.

  • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.in/ Cassie

I don’t like the weird high neckline, but the rest of it actually works for me. Quelle surprise!

    • MilaXX

I know, right?  When I like a Stella  dress I feel like a plague of locust should be the next event.

  • jmorino08

Those shoes are awesome! I like the idea of the dress but it looks like it was made from whatever scraps they had left over!

  • PastryGoddess

Those SHOES!  That dress is…is…ummm whatever.  The fact that it’s Stella makes it surprising, but meh

Step back ladies, I have a machete

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

For a Stella McCartney dress, that isn’t half bad. I’m not 100% sold on the shoes – I mean, as shoes, they’re fabulous, but I can’t tell if they actually go with the dress.

  • ceceliadid

She’s adorable, but the dark side panels look like sweaty pits!

  • l_c_ann

I’ve sewn / upholstered with at least three of those fabrics.  Scratchy on the other side and or really heat retentive.

She looks good, but doesn’t need the dress to do so.

  • quiltrx

Frankendress, but she’s working it like it owes her money.  Stella should sign her to spokesmodel, fast.

I know my internet is working freakishly faster than usual when it loads tom and lorenzo in less than 8 seconds.

  • guest2visits

Pretty dress.  Just don’t like the hair cut, or the style of it. I think maybe it ages her.

  • ojosazules

That dress looks itchier than a bag of seed ticks. The piece around her neck/chest looks like she ripped it off a nun’s habit. She looks better in it than the model. Not a big fan of ankle straps, but those are good looking shoes.

    • l_c_ann

Yes to the nun’s habit.  I knew I’d seen that neckline somewhere before.

  • In_Stitches

I love the bold mix of differently textured neutrals.  Shoes and hair are perfect; I’m calling it a Werq.

  • MilaXX

Looking at it on the model I don’t like the way the skirt trumpets out. I’m not sure if she had it altered out not but on Lizzy this looks really good.

  • moppet

I love coming to these pages after they’ve been up for a while, because I always wonder if my first impressions match anyone else’s. In this case they went like this “Huh, that dress looks surprisingly good!…Stella McCartney? Wow!…Okay, comb your hair, honey.” Which is apparently exactly what everyone else thought! I’m officially a fashionista!

  • Tatiana Luján

On her it looks amazing. On the model, it looks like pieces ripped off a sofa and put together.

  • frannyprof

    Love it. All of it.

  • elemspbee

This looks terrific on her. the dress is smart, sexi, and great fall colors. The shoes works. And the hair is just light, bouncy, and alive. A plus.

  • CarolinLA

Tweed?  In summer?  I had a hot flash just looking at this dress.

  • Aurumgirl

Ah, I see.  It isn’t just colourless tweed, the whole dress is made from men’s suitings.  In what would be the least ordered fabric remnants in the shop, plus some felt backing under the armpits and an exploding nylon zipper made for a parka inserted all the way down the back. Lizzie’s a very pretty girl who is making this dress look good with her shapely little physique, but the dress itself is like a cabbage soup of bland.

  • mhleta

This is the smartest interview outfit I’ve seen in a long time. She looks great sitting and standing. The shoes take this interesting but demure dress into sexy land. This is a different and much better dress on Lizzy than it is on the model. She looks like an A lister. Well done!

  • rissa42210

    love this!

  • formerlyAnon

She makes this dress work where millions couldn’t. The way the black cuts in from under her arms could create all sorts of awkwardness but she pulls it off.

Cute if death-defying shoes. Again, not everyone could wear those anklestraps, but she pulls it off. And I like her hair, though many won’t.

    Good job Ms.Caplan.

And, for the second time this year, a not-bad McCartney. Three and it’ll be a as streak and the Mayan calendar myth will be vindicated. Not worried, though.

  • kimmeister

I was about to marvel about Stella McCartney actually designing something I would wear, until I saw the white back panel.  What the heck?  That one’s the straw that broke the camel’s back.

  • marilyn

Great dress for sitting on camera.  The small amount of pouf to the skirt makes sitting look better.  Stella almost had it.  The front of this dress is fine.  The white on the back looks bad.  I think that if she had been forced to work her way up in the world of fashion on her own ability, she would be a better designer.  Daddy bought her way to the top, and she keeps making amateur mistakes.

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

The shoes are to DIE for.  The dress, not so much.  Again, with the exposed zipper, which I loathe.  The little flounce at the hem is a nice touch, though, and this is a good dress for the position in which she was photographed: sitting down as a guest on a talk show.  Her hair’s a mess.  She should have had more of an “astronaut’s wife” sort of hairstyle, I think, to pick up on the mid-century vibe of the dress.

  • anotherkate

Cute idea, but the proportions are all wrong…looks like she has a case of the droopy boob, plus the length somehow makes her torso look loooong…great shoes, though, and great hair! The faults on this one all come down to the designer, not the wearer.

  • carpediva

Wow, a Stella dress I actually like. (The white panel is hiddy, but whatevs, it’s in the back.)

It reminds me a of Vicki B’s work, which I love. (Btw, never thought I’d type a sentence like that. Raise your hands; how many thought Posh would just be a fashion dilettante when she started her line? I surely did!)

  • SuzBald

    Adorbs – hair, smile, style.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I love the dress. It’s very flattering on her and a good length for sitting. Her hair is really cute and those shoes are HOT.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

she must be overheating in those heavy (wool?) fabrics under tv lights.

  • granddelusion

I’m not crazy about the dress, HATE the shoes, and her hair is kind of a mess. But she herself looks great. (How did she do that?)

  • Coralie Legister

    I like it.
