Hot shoes. I think her dress is puking.

  • jmorino08

Stop the presses! This actually works for her. The bow could be a little smaller and I’d lose one of those heavy bracelets, but she looks really fantastic here!

  • HomeOfficeGirl

She just about blew it with the fruit salad bracelet but overall (and especially for her) she looks great.

  • Sobaika

    FABULOUS cuff.

  • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

Lose one of the cuffs, change the shoe to a different color, downsize that thing on her hip and she’s a GO

    • Sobaika

Agreed, I hadn’t noticed that she was wearing two cuffs.

      • gabbilevy

        I think it’s three.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

It is, and I love them all but not at once.

What is up with her hair?  It looks like she rode to the screening in a convertible.  But the rest is working.  Especially for poor, oft-misguided Jess.  She is always graded on a curve.

    • MoHub

I don’t think anyone owns a hairbrush anymore.

  • Kristin McNamara

First thought: those look like slightly higher versions of theater shoes. Y’know… those shoes all high schools’ musical productions make the girls wear? And that dress makes me think that the play she’s in is West Side Story.

ETA: That sounded snarkier than I meant for it to…. her hair and make-up do look lovely though.

I believe the term is “character shoes.”

      • kschwarting

I was just going to say the same thing!  And the heels on character shoes are totally different than these.  They have a slightly broader base so you can dance/move in them easily.

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Yeah, character shoes are a lot like flamenco shoes in that regard (though flamenco shoes have the added perk of tiny nails that give a more diffuse sound than a tap-dancer’s plates). But I think maybe OP just meant the front of the shoe and the tiny ankle strap. I’ve seen peep-toe character shoes (though never platform!).

          • kschwarting

No, platform character shoes would never work.  I even had a pair of t-strap character shoes that I wore into the absolute ground in shows and also used for ballroom/tango classes.

          • Kristin McNamara

I bet my brain originally thought that because of the simple fact that they’re black mary-janes haha I
wasn’t thinking more specifically than that ;) Of course actresses
could never dance around in platforms! :) But thank you folks for
teaching me a new word: “character shoes” — never knew that!

  • greyhoundgirl

Gorge.  She’s working it all, even with a couple of excesses.

  • Scarlet39

    I hate that cuff.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s a huge step in the right direction for her, but I’m still not feeling it. Plus, at risk of sounding like a broken record, she looks like she’s going to a holiday or NYE party.

  • GillianHolroyd

She looks very pretty in the close-up. I just don’t agree with pale skin = looks good in black default.

  • SewingSiren

This look is all about the bracelet. I love Tom Binns , so I love it.

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Is that… a velvet… ruffled… slip dress? Oh honey, no. That cuff, while cute, does not a summer outfit make.

    • kimmeister

Only the waistband looks velvet to me.

  • TheOriginalLulu

Those shoes…I must have them. My life will not be complete without them.

  • jw_ny

The bracelet makes the outfit.  Is she wearing one on each wrist?  That’s one too many.

  • l_c_ann

The great thing about this is that I get an idea that even though I don’t like the cuffs, for many here, the cuffs make the look.  And that’s interesting, too.

  • frannyprof

OMG!!! She’s wearing my prom dress! (Except my dress came from Windsor Fashions at a deep friend-working-the-register discount.)

    • Imasewsure

Windsor Fashions…. ah 80′s mall memories… I’m pretty sure that’s where my 8th grade Gunny Sack graduation dress came from… butterfly lace bat wings and Farrah hair…. priceless

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

West Side Story is right. And peep-toe Mary Janes? *shudder* What is it with the teeny-tiny, itsy-bitsy peeps on shoes? Commit to the peep-toe, shoe designers! Or commit to a closed-toe pump. Both are fine, just stop being so damned wishy-washy about it.

  • http://twitter.com/HotMessHousWife Sammi M

I covet that Tom Binns cuff. UNF.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

One bracelet would have sufficed (and I’ll take the other, thanks). That lipstick is the perfect shade for her, and her hair has gone a little flat but I suspect hers is very similar to mine. One hour of decent hair then it goes flat, and a very fine line between frizz city and too much product/crunchyville. The shape of the dress suits her but the reality of the skirt looks like she had to ford a river on the way to flamenco class. I’ll just tie this skirt onto a knot and off we go!

    In conclusion, spiderlashes.

  • formerlyAnon

Don’t love the bow, but she looks AWESOME.

LOVE the cuff.  Would have suggested leaving off the color on her other wrist. Or putting it elsewhere, in a subdued way. Maybe a hair ornament?

  • MinasAunt

I like the cuffs but two of them make me think “Tropical Wonder Woman.”  The dress is terrible.

  • 3boysful

Interesting–a variety of likes and dislikes on this one.  I like it overall, but the shoes are TOO CLUNKY, and I’d lose the bracelet on her left arm.

  • http://www.facebook.com/meg.burgess.50 Meg Burgess

Holy scrolldown fug, Batman! From the waist up (including the cuff) everything is gorgeous. Below the waist is a whole ‘nother story.

  • nannypoo

She’s so pretty and she looks so happy. She’s not overweight or underweight. Everything is in proportion. She has nice hair. The fans seem to like her. She gets good roles and presumably makes a lot of money. Why can’t she dress well? There is no excuse for her showing up in this crap.

  • Imasewsure

Keep the shoes and the cuff but lose the dress….much better LBDs out there… this one is dull and fussy to me

    • MilaXX

I like the dress but the flounce is a bit too big & overpowering.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

at first i thought that cuff was from the candy store challenge on pr.  looks like it’s made out of m&ms at a distance.  still, it’s cute and the only thing interesting about the look.

  • MilaXX

I think she should have stopped at one bracelet. Too many looks like she’s wearing the macaroni jewelry some kid made for her.

  • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

I don’t understand why you would use Swarovski crystals to paint on.

    • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

my thoughts exactly. i like the cuffs, but painting swarovski crystals just seems very stupid.

      • Snailstsichr

Even the prongs were painted – up close it looks like the original design didn’t sell, so they painted it bright colors. On the other hand, I love the bright colors and I’d wear it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Murphy.J.Colin Colin Murphy

She should only be wearing the cuff on her right hand, the bow is bigger than it should be, and it would be better if there were only one strap on her left side. That would perfect the visual eye movement around the body. I do like this look though.

  • guest2visits

She’s still beautiful, but that giant ruffle and swag ruin the dress; for me anyway. The cuffs are ok, beautiful shoes.

  • quiltrx

I wish there was another angle of this, because from here it just looks odd in the skirt.  I like the ONE cuff, but two bracelets looks messy.

  • hilbobaggins

I don’t like this at all.  The ruff and the hip thing are ridiculous.  The cuff/s is/are okay, but I agree that the painted crystals thing just seems awkward.

Neck up she looks beautiful though.

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I’d call this a hot mess of a look.  The tank straps are oddly informal for such a formal-looking bottom of the dress, the ruffles and the bow and the asymmetrical hem are altogether too much, that bracelet would have been too much for Carmen Miranda, the hair is too messy, and I hate the shoes.  Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln………

  • marilyn

Itis impossible to even see this dress because of the black background.  Her hair looks messy.  Her jewelry is daytime casual.  It should be worn with a caftan, or resort wear.  The bracelets clearly do not go with this dress.

  • Terri Smith

Why would anyone paint over beautiful Swarovski crystals?
