I think she looks ridiculous. Like she fell into the washing machine (without separating her whites from her colors) and had a tragic accident.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

    Face: beautiful!
Shoes: Not a nude pump! A plus!
    Dress: …

Not sure how a dress with so many elements could be so boring.

    • Imasewsure

You are exactly right… everything great but the dress… boring AND overdone

  • ChiKat67

What do I have to do to put an end to the midriff-baring tops?  Is there a congressman or senator I need to write to?

    • gabbilevy

Ha! Good luck getting them to do anything.

  • theblondette

I would quite like this if not for the belly on display. DO NOT WANT!

  • homofascist

Hmmmmmmm.  There is almost something there.  The skirt is interesting but the way the top bulges out and this makes it a midriff, with those colors – just not cute.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

This one is so odd – SHE looks fantastic – better than usual.  More effort with the hair and make up.  But this is such a playful dress (not sure I like it, but it IS playful) and she pretty much never strikes me as one who would go with a playful style like this. The shoes don’t help.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

I think her face looks fabulous because she pulled back the hideous gigantic bangs, too bad she had to ruin it with the belly, I think the dress would look better on her if it were the runway version.

  • http://CallMeJane.com/ CallMeJane

The fabric looks much stiffer on her than the model. She looks like she’s wearing a stack of lamp shades.

  • frannyprof

Once again, she’s wearing a dress that is totally wrong for her. She’s got an athletic build, which doesn’t look good in cutesy little dresses. But her face and hair are beautiful.

    • SalmonCanon

Y’know, I empathise with her. I have an athletic build but a cutesy dress personality. Somebody needs to help her come to terms with her mind/body mismatch.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Her hair looks great this time, but that dress? Seriously? I can’t even make excuses for this disaster.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Cuz she’s got hooters, and the model, don’t got em.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Haha, I know that, it just seems like the top differently. But yes, the difference could be entirely due to the hooters.

    • EveEve

The neckline on the runway model is cut  lower. It sits so high on Jessica that she looks like it might choke her.  And the armscye is cutting of her circulation under her arms. Yet…plenty of unnecessary midriff showing.  Huh.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

on the runway it’s a beautiful, subtle dress.
when she had the midpoint cut out in order to reveal the skin none of us really needed to see, two things happened:
    1/ the obvious cheapening, &
2/ [more crucially] it ruined the outfit’s proportion.
so help me, it’s not that she now looks like a dr seuss character [something that might be done w/ dignity if done w/ a certain silly swagger] but, instead, that she looks like a house or fixture or land mass or somesuch in a dr seuss adventure. the one that comes to mind, at least for me, is the whatever it is featured on the cover of oh, the places you’ll go! but, of course, the choice is up to you.

    edited to add:
besides, she has a cruller on her head.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Jessica, you LISTENED to me!  You got those horrific bangs off of your lovely face.

Now, about that roll of watermarked Charmin bath tissue you seem to be wearing,…..

    • GillianHolroyd

Yesssss. Her hair looks great. Almost good enough to overlook the rest

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

For me it will take a lot more than good hair to forgive that dress

        • GillianHolroyd

          I’m grading on a curve

  • http://www.facebook.com/meg.burgess.50 Meg Burgess

The dress (or skirt and top?) is awful. Looks like a motel bedspread from the 80s. I *think* the face and hair are pretty, though. I think…I really can’t decide if it’s beautiful or really bad.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I know that pastels are on trend right now. But this makes me a little dyspeptic.  And you are so right. It looks just like a  bedspread fabric from 1985.

      • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

My bridesmaids’ dresses were in a similar pattern. In 1991.

  • RebeccaKW

This dress is a bad home ec project and the shoes are ridiculous.  However, her head looks good.  I’m glad she figured out the bangs were NOT her friend.

  • crash1212

At least she got those bangs off her face – thanks from a grateful nation! And because of that, I’m almost willing to give this a pass.  Almost. Actually, the only thing I find egregious is the visible belly as I think it’s tacky, even if it is a lovely belly. Love the shoes.

  • MilaXX

What’s left to say? Girl that is not your  dress. Good job on the hair and makeup though

  • AlexisPayne

What is going on with her during this press tour?!?! Hate everything below the neck.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I wouldn’t call her hairstyle flattering, exactly, but it’s a relief to join the chorus grateful to see those awful bangs swept out of her eyes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

I think the proportions of this dress look much more striking on someone with narrower shoulders. Otherwise she is quite lovely.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Girl needs to stay out of January Jones’ closet. Betty Draper will cut a bitch.

  • kimmeister

Those shoes are pretty fabulous, even with the ankle straps.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

scrolldown fug. those shoes are a travesty.

  • PrunellaV

Blech. The dress looks homemade, like someone got all kreativ with a store-bought pattern and their bedroom curtains from the late 80s.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I read this and thought “revamped Sound of Music.” And “Gone with the Wind.” There need to be more movies with main characters making clothing out of old curtains.

  • kikisayshi

Yay! She got those bangs out of her face! Other than that, this look is a hot mess.

  • unbornfawn

A real miss. That is not her dress, it looks like something cheap from the juniors rack, the hair is unflattering and the shoes might be great if they weren’t platforms.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

    Don’t like the tummy showing.

  • Sara__B

This is not a skirt for standing around with your arms by your sides. It’s designed for motion. And the top wasn’t designed with breasts in mind. I like the colors and the styling, but the skirt and top, not so much.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Sounds like Olivierrie from Project Runway. He doesn’t like designing for women with boobs.

  • SophieCollier

There’s not supposed to be that huge gap between the top and skirt.  It looks bad like that.  Otherwise, a cute outfit.

  • Elisa_G

Great from the neck up, ridiculous from the neck down

  • guest2visits

This is one of those dresses that I scroll down and find it disappointingly short. On both the model and especially Jessica.
It’s like she’s trying to wear a pre-teens little outfit. I think if it was ONE piece, and a little longer, it might look like an adult’s
dress, and not a kid’s.  It comes off as trying too hard; even though she’s obviously a beautiful woman.

  • lonepear

Dear Jessica: “celebrity swap day” was just a joke–now please give that dress back to Elle Fanning.

  • quiltrx

    At least it’s a bit Total-Recall-ish.

But it’s also “Project Runway I found my fabric in the clearance bin at Mood”, too.

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Top not made for women with breasts. Try again.

  • jmorino08

Looks OK on the model, but the belly shirt effect on Jess totally tarts it up. And not in a good way.

  • aeg66

Colored me stunned when I scrolled down to the bare midrift. The models is clearly longer & JBs top cuts her off under the pits too.
Bad for her body type & don’t get me started on those shoes.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

She’s a beautiful woman with a killer figure, but she needs to pack that dress up and ship it to Emma Watson.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sarah-Adams/1143985903 Sarah Adams

That print reminds me of something dreadful and right on trend that I insisted on wearing in the late 80s/early 90s. My mother warned me that it wouldn’t look good, but I was dead set and determined to be fashionable. I’m still embarrassed by those pics.

  • SalmonCanon

From one broad-shouldered girl to another: tops that stop before your midriff are not your friend. They will do make you look boxy every time.

  • Samantha Irene

    dear god no.

  • afabulous50

    Train wreck.

  • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

Face is better, hair is weird, dress needs to be burned in effigy in the town square as an abomination against nature…Shoes are adorable and I need them in my size

  • marilyn

That does not work for her.  That should only be worn by someone who is about 6′ tall and a size 0.

  • greyhoundgirl

From the neck up and the knees down–she looks beautiful.  The outfit, however, is very adolescent looking.  What was she thinking when she looked in the mirror, I wonder?  ”I look great for 13″?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1405004314 Cindi Tracy Aune

She needs to stop trying to dress “soft”. She is a kick ass chick and needs to run with that persona!

  • Valdri8

    BAD 80′s WALLPAPER!

  • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

    TWEE!

  • TheOriginalLulu

Wow, the fit on that top is awful on her. I don’t know who told her that this would work for her, but she should have looked in the mirror and said No Way. That type of top is NOT meant for women with boobs. It’s just a mess.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ali.sharpe.6 Ali Sharpe

    Haha, what?

Seriously, she is absolutely gorgeous, but WHAT IS ON HER BODY. The top with jeans would’ve been eh. The skirt with a different top would’ve been pretty good, probably. But together, I just do not even remotely understand what is going on here.

  • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

Her face without bangs is so much better.

  • belfebe

No.  Just no.  This is horrible.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i love the skirt and top with the shoes, but call me fay i love a faerie look.  but i’ll admit jessica’s not the type to pull it off.  doesn’t she look lovely with her hair off her face?  but she’s got a bit of a horseface… channeling princess margaret.

    • formerlyAnon

Yes. Whenever I see her I think of margaret or anne.

  • formerlyAnon

Bare midriff, not good. Changes proportions of outfit too much.

That fabric cries out for an aging & ladylike donning of pantyhose. The cut of the dress cries out for fun! kooky! shoes & accessories.

(Remember when “kooky” was an ubiquitous fashion advertising adjective? Paired mostly with fun! or young!? No? Well I swear that *I* do.)

Nice hair & earrings, though together they’re too grace kelly for this dress.

End result: she’s lovely and awkward looking, here.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Trevor-Scott/569555595 Trevor Scott

    “No Flora, no…”

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

YES! to the hair.  YES! to the shoes.  NO NO NO to the dress!

  • rh33

I thought 10 year old girl summer play outfit circa 1985.

  • TieDye64

Looks like sheets from a girl’s room circa 1982.

  • http://twitter.com/grooxcore Marie Ee

what the hell? her body and face are way too womanly to pull off this waify dress. it’s meant for a flat teen imo. hair and accessories be tragic.

  • littlemac8

Now come on people!!!  Her hair is a lumpy mess!  She’s getting too many points for ditching the egregious clip on bangs!!

  • http://blue-again.myopenid.com/ blue

Gorgeous! Goes fabulously with her coloring. The poofy bottom of the shirt is unfortunate. The shoes are divine.
