I guess it’s just not her dress because it’s making her look kind of…. track and field medalist??  It’s just not working with her proportions and I’m sure her proportions are quite fabulous.

    • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

I’m willing to give this one to her, she just had a baby and doesn’t seem to be on the fast track to losing the weight.

      • HomeOfficeGirl

Yes, totally agree!  I blame the dress.  And maybe the shoes.  And just a little bit the hair…  the more I look, the more I blame the shoes…

        • mhleta

I agree. Post baby body is not easy to dress. Pass ‘Go’, return the shoes and collect $200.

      • MilaXX

Yeah and it’s baby number 3. The body doesn’t bounce back as fast unless you’re Heidi. I am however not that willing to forgive the shoe. It’s a bad choice for this dress and this event.

        • http://twitter.com/pointlesswords jayme

It’s just astro-turf though, if that makes a difference. At least her heels won’t keep dipping into the ground.

    • http://twitter.com/jennsaysmeow Fifi LaRoux

It’s the neck of the dress that is making her look rather blocky up top.

  • Sobaika

Apparently the stylist didn’t get the memo that it would be a grass carpet.

I love the color, but that under-arm zipper situation is… messy.  Other than that, it works for me. I thought it was too much drapey at first, but it grew on.  (Still, she’s smarter than to ever face a camera head-on.  Jen, that’s a rookie move!)

  • TheOriginalLulu

    Girl That’s Not Your Dress.
It’s a great little dress, but I think it’s one of those meant for a girl with less curves than she has right now. (she just had a baby right?) Not that she doesn’t look amazing for a woman who just gave birth; it’s just that the dress is pulling all over the place instead of draping the way it’s supposed to and just isn’t flattering her.

Hair and makeup are fresh and pretty.

    • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

Agreed. As a woman with curves all the time, I have learned that you really can’t do high necklines. All they do is make you look like a block of colored torso.

      • mshesterp

That’s what I’m thinking–it makes her look blocky.  And I love Jennifer Garner (+ Ben Affleck) x1000, so that makes me sad.

      • Kate Clausen

As a woman who just had a baby and is breastfeeding, I’ve developed a much more substantial chest. I discovered that it doesn’t work to just buy styles I used to wear in larger sizes.  For example, high necklines make me look blocky, and a halter neckline just makes me look like a hooker.  Perhaps Jen is struggling with this same issue?  But she’s rich enough to have a stylist to help her!

  • Jellybish

I think I would like this a lot more with either a lower neckline or without the hip frippery. With both, she seems overdraped and too covered-up.

    • http://twitter.com/darnray Danielle Raymond

Agreed. I think she’s more voluptuous in the chest area (still breast feeding?). I found the most flattering way to deal with that was to have some sort of a V-neck, to show a little skin. Her figure is lovely, that dress just isn’t doing it any favors.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Hip Frippery. That would be a fabulous name for a vintage clothing store.

  • SophieCollier

Those shoes are tragic, but she looks really nice from the ankles up.

  • elirt

It’s surprisingly not her dress – it makes her look lumpy and ages her. I’m surprised after seeing how it looks on the model, but maybe it’s better in a still photo than actually worn and walked in.

    • crash1212

I think that’s true of many Lanvin dresses. They all seem so….busy! They don’t seem very wearable to me.

  • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

she looks like shes wearing a box. i mostly blame the neckline. also, i guess its the wrong dress for her figure?
the shoes look cheap, her hair is messy. oh well, maybe next time.

  • Sara__B

Hate her hair and shoes. Love her smile. She isn’t back to Hollywood Star Skinny yet, but is looking fit and healthy. Good for her!

  • jennifromcali

That’s Jennifer Garner? What’s she done to her face, ESPECIALLY her lips???? Too much botox on her forehead.

    • jw_ny

looks like the same set of lips that Melanie Griffith bought.  smh.

    • 3boysful

I know!  I thought the post title was a mistake.  I’m still not sure it’s her.

Disappointing.  I had an impression she was “realer” than that.

    • kimmeister

They look like the same lips she’s had since Alias to me.  *shrugs*

      • AllisonAndStuff

Me too. She looks like a gently-aged Sydney Bristow to me. And she looks like a very fit and healthy woman who just had a baby, which… is what she is.

      • mshesterp

Same here.  I think her face looks great, and not noticeably different.

  • LauraWL

I think she looks great. Love the dress colour on her. So what if it makes her look fuller figured, but what’s so bad about that?! I like it when a woman wears something that shows off her thickness instead of hiding it. She looks beautiful to me.

  • sagecreek

    Oh, dear. She looks awful.

  • GillianHolroyd

I always thought she was tall, at least 5’8″. This dress makes her look schtumpy. And yes, had some work done? because I didn’t recognize her in the movie advert either.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i think it’s a really pretty dress except for the neckline. i dont know why he tends to do weird things w/ shape, alber e., but he does & they often wind up looking misfired rather than experimental. true, here but less than sometimes. i also think the color is better brighter than the kind of dead salmon it is on the 3/4 of a model.

  • sockandaphone

idk if its the dress or those hiddy shoes but…she looks kinda stumpy? she has a great bod but its just all weirdly proportionate.

  • aristida_girl

So close but gurl that is not at all your dress…

  • quiltrx

NOT flattering.  The hem is all wrong, and all the wrapping makes her look incredibly wide, which she’s obviously not.  And that neckline looks like it’s choking her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

I think her third baby is around 5 or 6 months old. She is out and dressed, good for her.

    • greyhoundgirl

And unlike a lot of celebs she actually takes care of her kids herself.  I’m sure they have help, and more power to them for that, but when they lived in Cambridge and one of the kids was in a co-op preschool she was right in there with the other parents scrubbing toilets and hanging with the kids.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I think she looks great! She has her post-baby curves, but they work on her. And the shoes – LOVE. THEM. Makeup looks great, though I would have done something different with the hair – it looks a little limp.

  • formerlyAnon

Except for the neckline, I think it’s a great dress if you’re ready to celebrate what is actually an AMAZING body for a three-time-mom her age.  It’s maybe not Hollywood standard, but there are thousands who would think they’d achieved their dreams with that bod.

I admit it makes her look a little blocky – I blame the neckline. And the hair is sloppy looking and the shoes are contributing nothing at all. I also wonder about the placement of the hem – I don’t have the eye to say where to move it, but I’d say it would be worth experimenting a bit.

  • RzYoung

She looks really happy and comfortable, love the colour on her.

  • TSkot

Drape at the neckline or drape at the hip; pick one.
    Bad shoes, too.

  • Valdri8

Her post-baby body looks amazing. This is simply not a dress for anyone with boobs. It looks ridiculous on her and her stylist should be whipped.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Maya-KC/537771651 Maya KC

    Oddly unflattering.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

All that shittery hanging off the side is ruining the dress.  And the barely there shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/thejuniperlee Juniper Lee

I’m not convinced that’s her color.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Clydette-Wantland/673315286 Clydette Wantland

Bravo, she’s got curves!! Shoes suck but she looks good.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

I like her and think she is gorgeous but I hate that neckline with a flaming hot passion.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Where to begin?!  The fit is all wrong on that dress – it makes her look very wide and short, which I’m sure she is not.  Her hair is awful and her makeup is terrible (especially her lips – they look dry and chapped) and those shoes are awful!!!  And her posture is very awkward in some of these shots.  This nice lady is clearly having a very bad day.

  • PeggyOC

I agree that the neckline is stumpifying and unflattering and I could do without the cocker spaniel hair thing going on here, but she gets so many, many points from me for not being on the “I had a baby yesterday and I’ve lost all the baby weight” train.  It’s unhealthy, unrealistic and just plain crazy.  She looks human and lovely.  Except for the hair and neckline.  And maybe the shoes.

  • belfebe

The dress is not bad, but it’s not doing anything for her.    I don’t like those shoes with that dress. Hair and makeup are nice.  The color is great on her though.

  • carpediva

First of all, LOVE huh! I am totally buying that average chick realness she’s always serving up, fake or not!

But those shoes are BEYOND hideous. They make her feet look like two slabs of baby back ribs.

    Or ET feet.

    Or Flinstone feet.

But love her! For true though. :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

I wish I looked that good 5 months after baby. She looks pretty. But the shoes are awful.

  • unbornfawn

The dress is lovely from the waist down. It fits like a glove. From the waist up it looks like a Christmas box.

  • guest2visits

She’s very pretty but the shoes are almost too sandal-like for me. Picky. The dress suits her.

  • boweryboy

Going-to-the-grocery-store hair with high heeled shoes that look like flipflops plus last night’s slept in makeup paired with a bedsheet dress because she was too lazy to put anything on.

  • understateddiva

Look, it’s the dress that won last week’s Project Runway challenge, this time in red!

  • jmorino08

She looks amazing, but I’d like to see the hem just a smidge higher. As it is, she is being slightly stumpified.

  • afabulous50

Housewife  – let out on the town for one night.

  • LambeeBaby

Her face looks beautiful and the color is very flattering but that dress looks 2 sizes too big on her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/aconsertijones Annalisa Conserti-Jones

I think the dress is fine. The hair and shoes… not so much. Especially the shoes. I can’t think of anything that would go with those shoes. :(
