      Oh nonononono.  Gunnar is going to get a master class in how to be an imperious bitch from Irina.  Josh is an amateur compared to her.  She could eviscerate little Gunnar without even putting down the nail file.  It will be delicious.

        My money’s on her, though, because I think that’s who she is and I think he’s a dreadfully annoying faker with a fatally soft underbelly.

        It may not be this week, but I really fear that at some point we’re all going to see his brittle facade shatter and it’s not going to be fun to watch.

    If there is any justice in the world, the designer working with the Season 9 “winner” will simply sew two pieces of fabric together at the shoulders and waist and add a belt.

    Edited to add:

    GOD no! What am I saying? That’s what she’ll WANT the designer to do! What he should actually do is produce something so astonishingly intricate and elaborate that she doesn’t even have a clue what to say about it.

    And it should have sleeves.

    Lots of sleeves.

    Sleeves EVERYWHERE.

    The Sleeve gown, if you will.

    Maybe that’s the way to deal with her sleeve allergy.

        Aniela – I think I love you – that is the most perfect response to the Season 9 “winner’s” design “skills” and “aesthetic”.

      I think she’ll be bullet proof here, because being charmingly, emptily, pleasant is what she’s good at. Make her something shitty & she’ll be NICE about it – make her something stunningly technical that she could never conceive of, let alone do and she’ll be SO IMPRESSED and admiring. (Or, if she thinks it’s ugly she’ll be SO IMPRESSED and
      NICE-to-the-poor-deluded-designer.)

      Basically, if you’re dressing her & the cameras are rolling, I bet she’ll come off well. It’s only if her back’s against the wall and she’s being asked to *produce* that she might be disconcerted – and even then, she’ll try for charmingly flustered.

        It’ll actually be interesting to see what the other returning designers think of her and how she’s treated by them.

        They will, of course, be immune to the pheromones which stupefied most of the male designers from her season…  In my mind I’m seeing Laura, Irina, Mila and April being polite but cold and stopping just short of sneering.  Valerie will probably be friendly because she’s a total sweetheart and Kenley will, well, Kenley will be loud.

        Of course, I’ll have to rely on TLo and the BKs for the full report because I’m not bloody watching!

       well, knowing her on the personnal level of my computer screen, I’d say she’s going to try and direct them to do what she wants.
      That what she does, that’s part of the reason why she enrolled last year : she’s a designer, not a seamstress. She has people to actually do the job, like every great and reknown designer around the world.
      What’s still kills me (apart from her win) is that she actually tried out knowing she didn’t have the sewing training the boundary of the show requires.
      Well, enough of that. My bet is on the classic caraibean sleeveless oversized dress. With a print to do the job.

    Going through my head:

    Anya, Mila, Iriana, April, Cray Cray, Laura, and Kenley. Nope, don’t remember her name, but that she coined “cray-cray.” I’m oddly okay with this. 
    Final thought: Whoever gets Anya better work on their caftan skills! Winner of this challenge shall thereby be coined winner of the season seeing as how no skills are required anymore.

    This looks like  fun! But the pairing of the designers looks like a deliberate mis-match.  Elena should be able to make a flattering dress for Laura, but Buffi with Elena or for Laura, I cannot see.
    I could see Melissa working well for April.
    And Andrea for Mila, but it looks like Andrea is working for Anya, believe it or not I could  see Fabio making something nice for Anya.
    Elena or Dmitri would be good with Irina.
    And I think Ven will be a good match with Kenley.
    For Valerie I think Sonjia would be a good match.

    Could we just see Laura? Maybe as a judge, a client, an anything? Sigh, I miss her.     PLEASE TELL ME LAURA IS PAIRED WITH BUFFY?! The queen of the tasteful nude cocktail dress with plunging neckline, and the lovechild of Cyndi Lauper and Betsey Johnson (as styled by Peggy Bundy)? I will have some of that. Glad to see April and Mila, for the Sour Balls of this year’s crop.  

    I love the idea of this, even if it is a complete and total stunt. Should be hilarious.

    What gets me about what Kenly is wearing is that it so clearly wasn’t fitted well. The collar is uneven, and there’s something wonky going on in the bust. Assuming that she made this, why isn’t it better tailored to her? A rhetorical question, I suppose…

    I know that I’m going to be post-Cycle 6 chemo sick Thursday night, but this collision of (mostly) talent with new contestants will have me staying awake without a doubt.  It’ll be very interesting to see whether the new crop of contestants really have any knowledge of the winners/previous season contestants, because each of those Ol’ Timers have definite personalities and points of view.  And a couple of them aren’t shy about voicing them, either.  This really should be entertaining, if B-M manages the footage with a modicum of intelligence. [always an unpredictable]

    What matters most & I’m SURE it won’t be clearly articulated to the designers, is how much of the scoring depends on the opinion of the “client.”

    Beyond that, this looks like it should be fun, since they haven’t paired up the obvious matches (natch!) and there’s a distinct lack of shrinking violets in the ring.

    I am rather looking forward to this challenge idea – which means they will ruin it and it will be boring, obnoxious, or somehow both. But I’m optimistic like that.

    They seem to have deliberately picked odd triples for the challenge, which is hardly surprising. I must admit, Elena and Buffi designing for Laura is just fantastic – almost in the literal sense of the term.

    I’m a little disappointed that we don’t get Elena and Dmitry with Irina – but somehow team former Soviet Union would just be too easy.

    I wonder which one of the clients will give the contestants the hardest time? I’m guessing Laura or Irina. It may be that Kenley might be quite nice and sympathetic to her contestants, so long as they don’t cross her in any way and she doesn’t mecha-transform into The Polka-Dot Hulk.

    Hey!  Look!  They finally have a fresh idea for a challenge on PR!  It may just be another “make a pretty dress” challenge, but the entertainment factor here is HIGHlarious.  Definitely going to DVR this unless something boring is on for Olympics in Prime Time tomorrow night.  Agree with the BK who notices that TLo must really have a case of apathy by hiding this on the whiteboard.  

    Designing for Laura Bennet.  Now THAT is a daunting task.  Too easy to have put Ven with her.  Let’s see if these “designers” can be true to their aesthetic while taking their client into account.

      Buffi+Elena+Laura Benett =great television.  Because if Buffi and Elena aren’t already different enough in their styles, neither one of their styles translate into something I would ever see Laura in.  And Laura don’t play that shit.
