Sorry Mr. Muscles, but I’m going back to the Pacey post.

    • http://visceralresponse.com Dina dV

I don’t know.  His muscles aren’t gym-built or for show.  They’re the result of 20 years of hard work, discipline and sacrifice to become one of the greatest swimmers, and athletes, ever.

Pacey’s an actor dating another actor and wearing clothes to shill for designers.

Phelps wins that comparison to me.

      • afabulous50

        BRAVO!  Well said.

      • charlotte

I didn’t mean it that way. I know he has amazing athletic qualities. It’s just my personal taste in men.

      • ccm800

         mmhmm.

  • MarissaLG

Am I the only person who giggled looking at the first underwater shot because they covered up his face? Come on, Norman- he doesn’t look that bad!

    • lovelyivy

That is the best shot in the bunch. I know it would have been a total cliche for the photographer to focus on his… neck-down qualities, but it might have been doing him a solid. After all- as a poster upthread pointed out- his body is the result of two decades of discipline and hard work to become one of the greatest Olympians of all time. Celebrating it is a good thing.

  • Jennifer Coleman

Putting his face in a half-shadow does wonders. Just sayin.

I love an interesting (“different”) not pretty boy face.  And he’s got one.   Go get ‘em, Michael.

  • Violina23

I like the second underwater shot, at least that’s interesting/new!

I find the other big US swimmer (Loche or something?) much more attractive.  Either way, it’ll be an exciting Olympics watching those two duke it out. Go USA :)

    • DinaSews

Ryan Lochte – for your reference.

      • Violina23

        I was close! Thanks :)

    • MilaXX

I think Phelps is going to get his world record, but Lochte is definitely going to give him a run for the money.

    Swimming does a body good.

  • SewingSiren

    I like him.

  • greyhoundgirl

Like the photos.  Like and respect Phelps–a tremendous athlete. But what gets me is the cover’s designation as  ”Greatest American Hero”.  I mean, I know it’s only Details magazine, but really now?

  • Jonathan Franklin

I ripped the cover off when it came in the mail and threw it away.  He’s frequently unsportsmanlike and I think kind of a freak.

    • http://twitter.com/TheRedZavodnik Ginger

Unsportsmanlike?  How so?  Truly curious and not being snotty here.  I suppose I’ve missed something?  I’m only just now really paying close attention to the swimming scene (thanks to my son making the school’s swim team) since cycling has been my focus for so long.

    • Hiptobesquare

      I’m with you.

As for his looks, there’s something Herman Munster-ish about his face.  Creeps me out.

      • TieDye64

He’s a world class athlete. He was born with his face.

  • kikisayshi

    No thanks.

Give me Ryan Lochte everyday…and twice on Sunday.

    • kcarb1025

      Ditto!!

  • Fordzo

I want to bite his clavicles.

  • guest2visits

Although I really hope he does well in London; most of all I wish for him a successful after life, post Olympics.
He’s had some very poor representation in the past; not sure this clip is the thing , either.

  • MilaXX

Total butter face, but that swimmers body is yummy!

  • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

    Pass.

  • formerlyAnon

Thank-you. That’s the kind of muscular I can really appreciate.

  • LinXGUA

I think he’s handsome and hot.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Louise-Bryan/1177213326 Louise Bryan

I wonder if he has matured in the last four years.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1355527007 Rain Jezek

I really like the last shot. It’s beautiful, interesting, and makes me wish my boyfriend owned a pair of those jeans. The only downside is that Phelps is a swimmer, and therefore it’s a heavy-handed direction. Imagine Jeremy Renner, Harry Shum Jr., just about any male celebrity. No smoldering gaze shtick, just an unexpected and beautiful composition.

  • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

Boy next door cute. You know, if the boy next door were a record setting Olympic athlete.

  • ccm800

He looks SO uncomfortable in the little video.
