    COVET THE SUIT.

  • Sobaika

    I don’t get it.

    • SassieCassy

Yeah like if she wanted to do naughty schoolgirl for the nerds, this wasnt it? And the top part looks so heavy and hot and uncomfortable. And alltogether its too chic for comic on.

And this is a stupid complaint but i HATE that her eyeshadow is an exact match. And her heels too.

    • EveEve

Minus the blouse and tie and she’d have been killer!

      • rougeort

Agreed. She should’ve gone sans tie and with a white t-shirt to make it perfect for CC.

Also, rework that styling! I would’ve done the hair in a top knot and some killer white sandals with this. And don’t even get me started on that makeup…

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s cute, but the suit looks a little rumpled. And I wish she would have worn some shoes with a little pop, instead of copying the runway look perfectly (even the hair).

BUT, it’s a cute look, and certain to appeal to the nerd boys and girls at Comic Con.

    • HobbitGirl

Umm…”weird” doesn’t automatically = nerdy. As a nerd girl myself, I can say this just looks kinda dumb. I don’t see any nerd appeal at all.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Yeah, this is too put together for Comic Con. Too starlet-chic. I am also a nerd girl (woman? 40 is a little old for the nerd girl appellation. Perhaps just Elder Nerd?), but I think it’s cute. Just too dressy for the venue.

        • formerlyAnon

I [think I] get the complaint of those who say this doesn’t work because it falls between costume and appropriate Comic Con casual – but that’s part of why I think it works for a celeb who’s working Comic Con and is not a real attendee.  While the cute & casual approach is fine, there’s no real nod to the event or to the fact that they’re there as part of the job. And trying to show up in real cosplay gear would inevitably look stupid – if that’s not what you do as a hobby you’re not going to pull it off. And having stylists will probably just make things worse.

I think something like this walks the line perfectly. But then, though a long-time Elder Nerd (love that & I plan to steal it!) myself, conventions have never been my thing so maybe I’m just all wrong.

  • lbl

    NO.

    • Jill_3

I agree. I think those shorts are the work of the devil.

  • http://twitter.com/starrika Ali

Almost cosplay? Seriously looks like some Japanese school uniform from one anime or another.

    • http://twitter.com/lbcubbison Laurie Cubbison

Exactly what I was thinking. There’s an implication of anime school uniform to the point where I started trying to figure out which one it could be until I saw the version on the model.

  • HobbitGirl

She looks like a bridesmaid. Or a groomsmaid. It’s not a good look. Especially for CC!

  • Sarah Thomas

I get it, and it’s perfect. Highest of high fashion, and it literally looks like a Japanese schoolgirl outfit. Brava.

  • sagecreek

    Oh, dear. No, no, no.

  • formerlyAnon

HOLY COW. I have seen the place where the formal shorts suit WORKS!!!!!

High heeled Mary Janes with socks might have been a bit literal, but they’d have completed the look better than her sandals.

Question for the makeup Kittens: Do we think matching her eyeshadow to the suit works, here?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I don’t like the outfit for the occasion, but considering where she is, the eyeshadow works.

  • jw_ny

Emmy usually nails it…not this time. The tie killed it…lose it, undo some buttons on the blouse and maybe…idk.

    • Golfkat

I agree that she needed to loosen it up a bit. It’s a little too severe. The shoes are amazing though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Terrible.  Maybe without the tie and jacket…but I doubt that would be much better.

  • tereliz

Those shorts are doing hideous things to her legs. Pleats. *shudder*

  • Sue_Asponte

Seeing the top, I thought, oh! finally a starlet who gets it, she’s going to be dressed as a… female Dr. Who? or some character I don’t quite know…? And then I finished scrolling down and saw the shorts. Nope, sorry, just a too-formal, yet rumpled outfit that does not fit the occasion in the least. If she’d taken it further and made it Dorian Grey, or tarted it up to naughty schoolgirl, then she’d've had something. Or just drop it and wear a cute dress, or heck, jeans and a tee.
Too bad it’s a whiteboard, I would’ve liked to have read TLo’s analysis.

    • Golfkat

Be careful about asking for TLo’s thoughts on the outfits that end up as whiteboard posts. I did it on Emmy’s last look and was swiftly put in my place ;) But honestly, I really would have loved to get their take on it too.

    Not workin’ for me.

  • PeggyOC

Girl, wipe that smirk off your face.  You do not look anywhere near as cute as you think you look.  In fact, you don’t look cute at all.

  • Vlasta Bubinka

Coming next– Emme Rossum as Little Lord Fauntleroy! On Logo!

  • AuntieAnonny

    Too Diane Keaton Bridal.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRedZavodnik Ginger

It’s a little Lawrence Welk, no?

  • kimmeister

Aw, I think it’s a fun outfit, although not necessarily right for the event.  Can you imagine how hot and sticky she must’ve been?

  • Sara__B

She’s high on my Irrational Celebrity Dislike list (I think it’s the prissy and smug facial expressions that get me.) I think I might be okay with this uptight little shorts suit at Comic-Con if it were on someone else. My irrational dislike makes it hard to tell.

    • tonibaloney

Oof, I have the same affliction with her.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

    scrolldown fug fo’ sho’

  • marilyn

She might be overdressed for Comic-Con.   I can’t decide if this is a schoolgirl uniform, a waitress uniform, or a stage costume.  It is a nice color and is okay, for whatever it is.  However, it is not high fashion.

    • http://twitter.com/starrika Ali

It’s Ralph Lauren. It’s never high fashion.

  • MilaXX

Despite it being a directly copy of the runway look I don’t like the shoes with this. The rest is cute though. I just think I’d prefer either a cute wedge or funky flat.

  • LinXGUA

“Would you want a salad with that? Ok. I’ll be right back with your order!”

  • Elisa_G

Looks like someone go lost on the way to her performance with Up With People. In 1983.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

Which airline is she flying for?

  • http://twitter.com/kerrymccombs Kerry McCombs

    No.

  • http://red.filmsbyneptune.com/ Dani Colman

I hate the shorts.  I would adore this with a kick-ass pair of skinny jeans and some metallic heels.

  • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

Change the shoes and render the dress shirt in a material other than satin and I would actually think that this was kind of cute, although not to my taste.

  • Mary Pressler

It looks like she’s wearing one of those polyester suits you dress little boys in for their Sears studio portraits.  What a strange thing to wear out in public.

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

I hate to wear shorts that have wide leg openings (how should I say that? lol) They look like two skirts.

  • poketom

Where is her sequined top-hat?! One… Singular sensation!

Also, there’s something less feminine about the tie being thinner. The wider tie on the model has an ascot-like quality that makes it feel somehow foofier and more feminine.

If she had traded Satan’s Shorts for a kicky pleated skirt and gone with pigtails or a higher top-pony it would have been amazing.

  • annrr

The suit is cute but hate the shirt and tie.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

She would look irrefutably adorable if this were not Comic-Con and the shoes were not so matchy. She should have lost the blazer and tie, unbuttoned a couple of buttons and rolled up the sleeves, and worn some bright wedge boots…and been Kiki Dunst or Anne Hathaway.

  • RzYoung

I like it but I feel like it’s too much look for her.

  • http://twitter.com/flo_whytingale Florence Whytingale

    NOT con-appropriate.

  • MarissaLG

    Nothing about this is okay.

  • Warrior89

I think I would have totally dug that when I was in middle school.  In the eighties.  When I proudly sported a leather (LEATHER, Y’ALL) tie.

  • guest2visits

The enormous shorts just don’t make it; for me. Very 80s.  I wish it was a pair of pants, to balance out the vest, tie, and jacket.
Then she could have left the jacket at home, and the tie. And unbutton the first 3. Breathe.  Geez; now I’m sympathetic for
all the guys in their suits and ties.  I like the shoes, anyway.

  • TheOriginalLulu

    I think she looks awesome.

  • jilly_d

    Girl, that’s not your hair.

  • http://twitter.com/emilyf007 emily

I wish she hadn’t reproduced the runway look exactly. For me, different hair would have made it fantastic. And maybe ditching the vest

  • Pennymac

    Epcot theater usher.

  • PaulaBerman

This could have been cute if she had swapped out those horrible shorts for some skinny pants or a smart looking skirt in a different color. The wide legged shorts in the same color make it look like a uniform. The shoes are not helping.

  • unbornfawn

Hate women in ties. The suit is kinda cute. But I’m an old fart and flared shorts just shouldn’t be part of a suit.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001998855370 Fatima Siddique

Boring boring boring. Too boring for even the Whiteboard. The blazer and tie should have been nixed. The vest would have been better in a complimentary color, not the exact same shade. And the shoes are putting me to sleep. Go home and start over.

All I can think of when I see this is Slightly-More-Attractive-Janice-Ian.

  • Patricia Gillett

Who wears a Ralph Lauren suit to Comic-Con? Ugh.

  • andreawey

    wtf!?!
