    For the love of all that is Holy, she gives redheads a bad name.  That outfit is horrific!! I am a redhead with a similar figure and I know how to dress myself (pretty much the same way Joan does, TAILORED).  This outfit does her NO favors whatsoever

            I agree completely, we all have our off days, BUT if it is something important, you dress WELL.  You make sure of it.  You take pictures with your phone and send it to your snarkiest girlfriend or gay and get their opinion.

    Big boobs and ruffles are not friends.  You end up looking like Bozo’s slutty cousin.  (I know this from experience)

      I discovered this recently.  I didn’t used to have big boobs, but I had a baby earlier this year and nurse him.  What I’ve discovered is that simply sizing up on what I usually wear on top doesn’t work….

       I only did wear them because my grandmother sent some for Christmas. At least I have black hair. My sister, who received the same outfit, is a redhead. Poor girl.

      I’m with you, actually. Grading on a curve here, but she’s looked infinitely worse. And it was not a dressy event, from what I’ve seen, so glamming it up too much would not have been appropriate.

    And why does her makeup always look so bad? She often looks washed out and sickly and we all know she has a breathtakingly beautiful face when done up right. Remember when she went all Liz Taylor and blue eyeshadow on Mad Men this year?

    I like the pants, but not so sure about the ruffles. I don’t think any part of this ensemble looks modern. Her makeup is standard for her, and her hair could use some help. Come ON, Christina. You are gorgeous – find a way to work it!!

    Minor dissent, here. It’s not flattering but . . . it’s SO MUCH BETTER than a great deal of what she wears.  She only looks broader than she should, surprisingly waist-less, and kind of like a late 70s/80s? (I can’t really place it because so much of poorly paid middle America still dresses like this) secretary who left the matching orange jacket on the back of her chair (the cut of the jacket would help me guess a decade!).  I mean, it’s not what she was shooting for, but it’s way better than the good 20% of the time that she looks out & out AWFUL.

    Did she find all of this in the back of her closet, because everything else was in the laundry basket?  Those pants are too tight in the crotch area, and none of the clothes go together.  She looks like a very middle-aged 1960′s secretary.  Bad colors, items don’t go together, too tight, dowdy and matronly.  The wacko purse and the bland shoes do not save it.   By the way, they don’t save it either.

    Something is terribly wrong here.
    The clutch and the shoes are ok; if she keeps the pants, than the pale mint, badly fitted top has to go.
    Maybe an untucked, custom tailored blouse of some sort ?

    I just don’t understand her style/fashion choices.  She is so incredibly beautiful as Joan but when she steps out of character her hair is always a mess and her clothes never flatter her curvy figure….What is up with that??? Does she have a crap stylist?? Or does she just ignore her stylist’s suggestions…. she is a beautiful woman who manages to be just on the edge of almost frumpy

    the sad part is she clearly has decent instincts in terms of how to pair pieces to make a chic outfit. this on someone with a slender or athletic physique could be great. sure, the shirt looks like a reject from the pirates of the carribean costume rack but a crisp white shirt with bright pants and a neutral heel is a solid combo and that clutch choice was inspired. she just needs to stop trying to enhance her curves or hide them – as others have said, girl: get a tailor and learn that clean lines are your friend (like the rest of us curvy girls do).

    I like the Brady wallpaper pattern on the clutch, but I’m not liking this trend toward slouchy clutches.  The shape of everything here is just wrong, and the color scheme like a Hilton hotel room.  Please Christina, hire a stylist.  You obviously care about fashion, but you need someone to direct your personal style to be flattering.

    I am turning 50 on Sunday, and my mother sent me a bunch of pictures of myself as a younger person.  There’s one of me when they dropped me off at college in 1980, and I am wearing THOSE EXACT PANTS.  And they were just as tragic on me. 

    But I was 18 and from a small town and stupid.  Christina, PLEASE, hire Janie Bryant to be your stylist!
