Stella McCartney: finding new ways to make simple dresses look disgusting, one garment at a time.

    • crash1212

Couldn’t have said it better myself!

It’s an ugly dress but Solange deserves a medal for almost making it sing.

    • mike__tv

Amen brother! Someone put that on urban dictionary.

  • homofascist

I think that is the least offensive iteration of that heinous SM dress. Love the cuffs and those sandals are KILLA!

    • terekirkland

Ditto. That black baroque trim is merely distracting on this dress, not insane.

Well I love Solange in this. Snaps.

Not the worst S. McCarney I’ve seen, for whatever that’s worth, but Solange has looked better.

dont care for slugs in my garden, certainly not interested in sporting them on a dress….

It’s not the greatest looking dress but Solange is working the shit outta it!

  • Angel Ratliff

Any iteration of this Stella McCartney dress needs to evaporate, post-haste.

One second, those black things look like giant worms. Then they look sort of like poops. Just gross.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Solange is working this fugly dress about as best as it could be worked.

  • MilaXX

That damned amoeba dress again.  This is a close to working as this dress can get. The only thing I really dislike is the what appears to be a variation or knockoff of the LV handcuff bag.

Can anyone tell me why Stella McCartney has a career?  Is it really that there are that many women out there with lots of money and zero taste?

    • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

      Nepotism.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

(Wiping good chianti off the screen)   SOooooooo true.  With out the connection she has she would not exist on the fashion horizon.  I don’t know anyone who has ever looked on her work with covetousness in their heart.

        • http://visceralresponse.com Dina dV

The sheer awfulness she foisted upon Caroline Wozniacki should get her shunned for life, regardless of who her father is. Anyone who thinks the best way to dress a beautiful but very athletic and muscular teen is by putting her in a dishwater-colored tank dress with a FRILLY SKIRT is a spawn of hell.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Daddy dear, Sir, that he is, cannot, with all his money and influence, make her a designer of note.

          • Imasewsure

THANK YOU! And don’t forget the ugly frilly little jackets that went with those hideous t-shirts and skirts… ridiculous!! Just start designing for BabyGap, Stella and it will all come together!!

      Don’t underestimate the vegan market!

(Vegans with money and no taste.)

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I will have to take your authority on that one.  (tee hee)

    • MilaXX

       daddy

  • Funkykatt

It looks like something I can get at Ross at 90% off. Who determined Stella McCartney is good?

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

I have been loving her public appearances lately. I don’t like Stella’s work, but Solange is serving it up.

  • formerlyAnon

Awkward dress, but she’s making it look pretty good. I HOPE she gets a really, really nice holiday gift from S. Mcartney this year.

ETA: If they’re going to bring back paisley (or paisley-ishness), can they do it in a less muddy color scheme?

  • VioletFem

    Kinda cute.

  • Sara__B

I dislike almost everything Stella McCarthy does, but I so enjoy Solange Knowles and the way she owns everything she wears. Stella McCarthy – OUT. Solange Knowles – IN.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

      Amen.

    • Patricia Gillett

Word to this. She’s got the kind of confidence you just can’t buy.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

      Agreed.

    • curiouserandcuriousest

What she said. Solange is almost werqing an impossible-to-werq dress.

  • clairellis

Stella McCartney stop it. Please, I’m begging you.

  • quiltrx

    Dear This Stella McCartney Collection:

    GO AWAY.

    Sincerely,
    Everybody

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

      Yes, please, just stop!

  • Anna Tree

The closest I’ve ever seen to liking something from that SM collection. Solange has really learned how to work a look. But nothing can make those shoes work. Blech.

  • Lina_bee

She is way too pretty to be covered in scrollwork made of leeches.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i always like her better than her sister, i cannot tell you exactly why. livelier, more full of life, maybe. & i love afros. so help me, my dream hair was always that straight-on-top, afro on the bottom thing so best exemplified by biba. i’m glad this one is breaking out the natural, i remember viola davis when she wasnt wearing wigs & hope she follows.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

    So. Ugly. Make it stop.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I hate the dress. Solange is so pretty, but this dress is just so wrong.

  • RzYoung

GO AWAY FUGLY STELLA DRESSES …right that’s it, I’m going to make voodoo dress dolls

  • samo_samo

Talk about making it work! I like Solange’s choice of accessories. Love her hair.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I think this looks pretty cute on her. The colors are great and she looks fresh and summer-y.
    HATE those sandals.
She has been sporting the natural look with her hair lately and I absolutely love it, but this looks weird. What’s going on in the back there?

Every time I have heard of Solange referred to as Beyonce’s homely sister, I have begged to differ.
I think she’s a stunner. Her problem is that she has no clue what to do with herself.

  • marilyn

    Another Stella McCartney clunker.

  • SpcilK

    NO!

  • melanie0866

She sure has cut back on the crazy, though.  Remember when she used to wear eyeshadow across her nose?

  • guest2visits

The boho dress and hair style, plus all the campus-looking back ground, make this look like a production of ‘Hair’.

  • http://twitter.com/taijuuuh Taija HU!

Say what you will, but Solange actually makes this dress seem half decent. And I love her, she just seems so much FUN.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Perhaps this looks ok, on Solange.  The shoes though, are more than questionable.  She really is a great natural beauty though.

  • Allison Woods

I don’t understand that black thing.

  • Imasewsure

Don’t hate the dress on her but her hair is killing me. My son’s fro looked like that in 6th grade and I made him shave his head…. I say shape it or shave it… looks a hot mess to me….

  • Judy_J

No, sir.  I don’t like it.

  • jmorino08

Add about 3 inches to the hem and you’ve got yourself a look. The proportions look off on Solange (or anyone who isn’t shaped like a pencil).

  • Aurumgirl

I was hoping Solange would be spared.

  • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

I find myself sort of liking this. Solange has just enough presence to make me appreciate it for what it is – bold, interesting, and a little bit cray.
