    No.

    • Louise Bryan

      I don’t get it.  I just don’t get it.

  • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

Did we have an accident with the hair color? is this why he’s wearing a turban?  I’m fine with the shorts tux, he could be channeling the Bahamas, it is summer.

  • http://twitter.com/observacious Kim Z Dale

He might be able to convince me that a shorts tux is sassy and fun if he would take that thing off his head.

  • MsKitty

    I. Can’t. Stop. Laughing.

  • http://profiles.google.com/missrandomness Emily Wilson

nope. defeats the purpose of a tux.

  • http://twitter.com/skitzfiggitous skitzfiggitous

Aw, Little Lord Phauntleroy. Actually, there are elements of this I like, but the way-too-short sleeves really make it look he just repurposed the tux he wore to his cousin’s wedding in 1986.

  • TieDye64

    Bahahahaaaaaaaaaaa! NO.

  • Lisa Dugan

Oh boy…okay…hmmm.  This has left me a bit speechless.  The shorts are not too bad.  The bow tie is way too big and the cuffs are sticking out way too much. The cuffs combined with the shorts and the camera angle make it look like he shoved himself into a too small tux.   Wait, is he not wearing socks?  Of course, that would be awkward with the shorts.

  • hmariec19

    False.

  • crash1212

He’s one fine looking man. I love this outfit. It’s perfect for the venue and he looks great in it. I even like the hat – takes it to another level. I am curious about the hue of the hair poking out though. Last time I saw pics of him, he wasn’t a blonde.

  • janetjb

    Bwwwhaaahahahaha

  • moppet

I wish his bowtie were less BOWTIE! The look is already very clown-adjacent; a serious attempt at a proper bow-tie would have helped.

    • unpiously

I agree. The BOWTIE bothers me more than the shorts do.

    • dschubba

      “Clown-adjacent” kind of nails it.

  • http://twitter.com/SuzBald Susan Baldwin

TLo’s twitter feed said “shorts tux” and I was all “hell naw” and I then I saw it, and I am now all “what is wrong with me that this is somewhat appealing”?

    • moppet

It’s weird to try and justify a shorts-tux but I’m almost with you. This could have maybe worked with some changes in the details.

  • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.wordpress.com Catherine

He looks like an extra in a really high-scale modern retelling of “Oliver.”

  • Lisa_Cop

Scrolldown fug. Come on, shorts and a tux jacket. Trying too hard to be cool and missing bigtime.

  • cmb92191

tie too big, jacket too small, the hat/turban thing –what is that?    Maybe he wore the shorts to show off the leg tatoo?
It is all kinds of wrong.

  • dschubba

At least Goodwill gets to keep the $12.

  • Judy_J

I think no, unless you are Little Lord Fauntleroy.

  • MilaXX

    BWAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

  • mjude

ok, i am DYING here.  to damn funny

  • Lina_bee

Oh, CdG, what are you DOING?? (Also, this is hilarious.)

  • SpcilK

    His fly is open!

  • Anathema_Device

Hip hop Angus Young = No.

The bow tie looks he got it from Andre the Giant’s estate sale.

I can’t even deal with the hat.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

       Right on, Ms D.

  • http://twitter.com/delysia_lafosse Delysia LaFosse

That bow tie is hilariously bad. Is its hugeness trying to make up for his tiny sleeves?

  • sweet_potato

    pfft, NO

  • blumonky

Maybe if the jacket fit and he wasn’t wearing his grandma’s turban…

  • kimmeister

And this guy was voted best dressed on some list last year???

  • jmorino08

    So much no.

  • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

    Shorts+hat=NO.

  • Imasewsure

My son is wearing that same stupid hat all day and night now…. and I don’t hate the idea but I think the whole thing is crying out for a pattern somewhere… Gotta go plaid – still might look dumb but it would be fun and dumb so I’d probably like it!

  • Julie Fountain

Out.  Wait, this isn’t one where we get to vote? Whatever, I still vote OUT.  Short pants with a suit are for the age 8 and under set….

  • girliecue

It would work better if it were a white tux.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

And this, THIS, is supposed to be one of the best dressed men on Earth. I don’t think I will ever stop laughing about this.

  • ThaliaMenninger

Are you a bellhop? A roller-skating waiter? Just stepped out of the cast of a tap-dancing musical about Little Lord Fauntleroy?

  • Melissa Brogan

I think there’s a way to do formal shorts, but I don’t think this is it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CQPXLNCBM5CZSHZZXJDHPVFS7E Buffy

scroll down fug and then scroll up fug with the headgear.

  • lesmaha

Please don’t let the do-rag be the next trend….

  • Charmella

Ahhhhhh…seriously?  You did not look in a mirror and think about little Lord Fauntleroy did ya?

  • MMS_SMS

By the nature of the designer – Comme des Garçons it is actually very normal / mainstream.  You don’t put on CdG for traditional.  I am impressed he is pulling it of this well!

  • jfrancais

    What.

  • argonauticos

somehow he can make it work. No other mortal probably could, however.

  • quiltrx

The ‘suit’ has a total The Innocents vibe…go see some dead lady outside, mkay?

And the douche hat…absolutely NOT.  This whole outfit is a huge fail.

  • Sara__B

This is a joke, right? Everything is cartoonish except the shirt!

  • guest2visits

    Looks ridiculous to me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Looks ridiculous, and he should stop smoking weed on his way to events.  Only

Snoop can get away with that shit.

  • Rand Ortega

Love it. He’s young and gorgeous, he should be experimenting w/ shapes, lengths & proportion.  Reminds me of Alan Cumming who plays w/ textures, colors & patterns.
I’m tired of the same old male uniform. Mix it up a little. Hell, a lot!

  • boweryboy

This is quintessential Comme des Garcons from the oversized asymmetrical bowtie to the shorts to the dress shoes without socks.  I used to dress similarly back in the ’80s.

Pharrell is working the shit out this.  I would totally give him a WERQ, two snaps up and a neck roll if it wasn’t for that fucking do-rag/beanie thing on his head.

I think he wore this because Rei Kawakubo received the 2012 International Award at the CFDA.

  • LinXGUA

I’m intrigued by the fabric of the ‘hat’. Is the same as the jacket? Also: it’s a bad thing we can see the metalic part of the short’s zipper.

  • Sally Brownson

I love it except his jacket sleeves are too short. Details, man!

  • PaulaBerman

    Hip hop formal Mat Hatter.

  • formerlyAnon

    Gosh he’s adorable.

If the jacket weren’t pulling where buttoned, I might accept that the short sleeves are “a look,” but the pull at the buttons makes the look: jacket you borrowed from your smaller cousin.

The bow tie is a bit exuberant, but I think it’d work with the hat/headwrap if it were still soft-edged, but a tad more crisply tied: as in straight and symmetrical.

The shorts are formal shorts. He’s making them work as well as anyone can, which is intentionally damning with faint praise.

Honestly, if I were his stylist I’d have straightened the bow tie and blessed the ensemble. And given an assistant warning cards to pass out as he walks through the event: “Do NOT try this at home. Statistically speaking, it is unlikely to work for you.”

  • Cathy S

    Well, that scroll-down was unexpected.

  • http://twitter.com/pag_baj Paige Boerman

Go home and try again. What the fuck.
