Without the belt, the dress loses precisely what makes it interesting.

I’m disappointed in The Orange One. The original was bizarre instead of innovative and the toned down version was boring.

  • Lina_bee

Boring from the front, although it looks like the back might be pretty.  Interesting how she’s starting to look like a young Heather Locklear.

  • SpcilK

Uninteresting at it’s best. The dress on the model is chic and Julianne managed to make it look very inexpensive.

    • http://twitter.com/emilyf007 emily

But this should surprise no one. She tends to ruin anything potentially chic or just chooses the wrong thing altogether.

  • pattyw

    Zzzz….

  • PaulaBerman

I have that dress, or one that looks just like it. $30 clearance rack. Boring.

  • Anathema_Device

    So basic and boring.

  • petalfrog

She looks kind of preg in the first picture. Are those shoes lacking ANY heel? Interesting…

  • MilaXX

Not your dress and even the original version would not have worked for her.

  • jw_ny

No belt, no drape, no cut outs…what’s left of the original?  kind of boring, just like her…

  • schadenfreudelicious

does exactly nothing for her figure without the belt, looks like any cheap summer dress you can find at the local mall….oh and i hate those shoes with a holy hell damnation kinda loathing!

    • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

      Those shoes must be burned.

    • filmcricket

I cannot believe a dancer would put her feet through the torture of wearing those.

      • 3boysful

To me, her foot does not seem to be on a platform in the photo?  Like maybe she’s wearing a different version?  Because I agree with you otherwise.

  • raeb23

That neckline & those cutouts make the top half of the original look like a swimsuit my mom had in the 80s . I’m glad she got rid of the cutouts but wish that she kept the drape or belt; it’s boring & unflattering around the midsection.

  • J MN

Just another long black dress with a slit and a leg stuck out.

  • http://twitter.com/iraki86 IraKi

In many ways she is “pulling a Jolie”

  • allisankelly

Boring. Boring dress. Boring girl. Hate those shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

She doesn’t look bad by any means, but what a snoozefest.

  • lojoso

Is there a heel on that shoe?

  • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

I saw the leg and thought, “of course.” Oh Julianne… I know you’re from the ballroom world but WHY do you insist on being trashy and looking older? WHY.

  • In_Stitches

If you want Calvin Klein, get Calvin Klein.  Don’t ask MK to make modifications until his design is a rip off.

  • Char Crop

YAWN! It’s a freakin’ black tank dress with a ‘Jolie’ slit.  I agree with @In_Stitches:disqus.

  • Sophie Collier

How is that even the same dress?  No cut outs, no draped skirt.  It’s just a tank dress.  In which case, bitch needs some jewelry, STAT!

  • Sara__B

I hope the fabric is fabulously luxurious, because the gown looks both boring and cheap in the photographs, and nothing in the styling elevates the look.

  • guest2visits

Totally different dress than the model is wearing; but I don’t like the model’s look anyway.
This looks like a tame Vegas gown.  I like that the cutouts are in the back, instead of the kind of tacky bites
from the sides, on the original.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

    Meh. Black tank dress. So?

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

It really does put the resort in resort collection, doesn’t it? Just what you want as a coverup at the hotel bar, but not nearly interesting enough for anything event-y.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

if you mean, when someone has to ‘resort” to wearing this, sure.  Its fine enough for its purpose, but Blandity Bland Bland.

  • curiouserandcuriousest

It’s a shame that none of the bold gold accessories have been kept from the original dress, though it’s a relief to see the cut-outs gone. Her hair and make-up are too relaxed for such a simple dress. And even though I don’t love the platforms, what a waste to wear a dress of this length with them, and conceal the unusual lack of heel.

Why put on such weird excrutiating shoes and then cover them up with a black nightie?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/K3O2QNXDJIU3AJINAGNJRYWDZ4 mrspotts66

how does one walk in those shoes?!

    • kimmeister

With difficulty.  I believe Lucy Liu wore them a few months ago and had to clutch someone’s arm the whole time.

  • Judy_S

It’s weird that she’s wearing that relaxed dress and friendly hair with those shoes, which must require a lot of concentration. At least you know the heel won’t catch in the long hem, I guess. Ugh.

  • http://oscarandjeeves.tumblr.com/ Miss Jen K

Dear goodness, I love the look on the model.
    On Julianne, not so much.

  • MsKitty

Giuseppe Zanotti must truly hate women to design shoes like that.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I mean…at least she’s not wearing something tacky like she normally does, but good grief would it kill her to wear something pretty and youthful for once?

  • dramamajor

    Definition of “Sad sack”

  • belfebe

Hmmm, she could have used the cutouts.  However, coming from her, this looks very good.

  • TieDye64

Lord, this girl cannot dress well to save her life. She’s pretty and has a rocking bod, yet nothing she wears is flattering. This one’s a lost cause.

  • jmorino08

Does it count as the same dress if all of the interesting parts of it are missing? Also, 2003 Jennifer Aniston called – she wants her look back.

  • quiltrx

It’s kind of Guy’s-Choice-appropriate, but a little bling would have been nice.
