On anybody else, this might look like Scarlett O’Hara used a bedspread instead of the drapes – but – I like it on Flo. I think it’s a beautiful color and it sort of hippie chick chic. Do wish she’d ditch the BANGS and so something else with her hair. I’m thinking a messy updo would’ve been nice.

    • Lina_bee

Yes to all of this, esp re her hair! She looks SO much better without bangs.

    • TieDye64

Completely agree. Somehow she did pull this off and the color is lovely on her. And yes, switch up the hair a bit.

    • Corsetmaker

When she got rid of the fringe everyone commented about how bad she looked. She looks better with them.

      • crash1212

Wasn’t as clear as I could’ve been. I don’t think she should get rid of the bangs – just the HUGE, flat, wall-to-wall bangs. I think she could lighten up on them…more wispy/piecey and not starting from the top of her head. But, I can be cranky about bangs. They’re so hard to get right sometimes.

  • NC_Meg

Take away all (or at lease SOME) of the ruffles and this would be great.

  • MzzPants

I love this on her!  Love the color and the style.  Now if only she’d smile.

  • MilaXX

No girl, that is not your dress and the way you are posing makes you look like you dislocated your hip. And please fix your hair.
I can’t with this one anymore. Always aiming for drama and landing on geriatric.

    • Sara__B

”Always aiming for drama and landing on geriatric.” Perfect.

  • JenniferSzczublewski

    Stunning!

  • holdmewhileimnaked

gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous dress worn, in this case, by the wrong person wearing the wrong makeup. damn.

  • Pennymac

I’m liking this on her. The peeking armpit is a little disturbing, tho.

    • amf0001

that’s just waht I was thinking – great color,  strong look,  why focus on the armpit?

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

This would be great if it was December instead of June.

  • In_Stitches

It’s new, it’s fresh (for her), it’s sexy, it has a neckline besides ‘high’; I love it.

  • schadenfreudelicious

the color is amazing on her and the dress is lovely, but just so wintery…isn’t it summer in the Northern Hemisphere??..she does need to do something about the funeral parlor makeup however…girl looks positively grey….

    • Corsetmaker

Summer! It’s more like October out there! Summer’s been and gone, we’ve had our allocated week of decent weather.

  • enchanted216

Except for the length, I think this looks fabulous on her!  This is definitely her dress, but it doesn’t feel exactly seasonal?  It’s making me sweat by just looking at it.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I love that she didn’t go the pale/pastel, sheer, ethereal route. Very few people could pull off this dress, but it suits her.  I don’t like the clutch with it, though.

  • formerlyAnon

    Dayum girl!

This is a WERQ, in my mind – or darn close to it!

  • onyxkatze

Yes — THIS is the kind of dress that it’s okay to look pissed off in, accessorized to match the mood. Drama, bitches!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

    Dramatic and gorgeous.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/toodleskitty79?feature=guide AWS

THE. BEST. SHE’S. EVER. LOOKED. Seriously…

  • sashaychante

I’m Flo, and you can get this handbag at….it’s just so OUT there, that little clutch.  She looks awesome.

  • quiltrx

It’s VERY Flo–I love it!  And that clutch is KILLA. Wish she’d smile!

  • kikisayshi

    Love this on her.

  • TSkot

Looks a helluva lot better standing there than flying down the runway.

  • turtleemily

I think she still needed to belt it to break up all the color, especially with how her hair is close in color.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Love the color, bag and jewelry, but why is her armpit hanging out?

  • jmorino08

That is entirely too much dress for a summer look. Plus it matches her hair, which is almost as off putting as those bangs.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Um. I miss first-album Flo of the gold-sequined granny panties and striped tights. Enough with goddamn ruffles, woman!

I’m sorry, Flo, I didn’t mean to speak to you like that. You know I love you.

    And your clutch.

  • Kristin McNamara

    SO. MANY. RUFFLES.
It seems as though this is the minority opinion here, but I actually severely dislike this.

    • MilaXX

I do too. She’s what 26? Why must she make herself look  like she’s in her mid 40′s?

      • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

Oh dear, 26?  I don’t know who she is but I thought she was in her mid-30s, YIKES!

To the dress/curtains, looks like the designer took it down straight from the windows and pinned it on her.

        • MilaXX

The wiki says she was born in August 1986 so she’s not quite 26.

  • VicksieDo

She OWNS that color, gorgeous on her.

  • SewingSiren

Absolutely stunning. My only quibble is that it is very obviously a fall/winter dress. The first pose kills , regardless.

  • guest2visits

So HEAVY. Like vampire vixen heavy. Looks lighter on the model due to her moving in it, also think the belt helped to break up
the maroon monotany.  In spite of that, Florence still wears this well; love the accessories. I do think she should have done
something else with her hair, like lifting it up, – the bangs look much too heavy; it’s like she has some of the dress on her head.

  • nannypoo

Her hair is, as usual, awful. A good haircut and some color in her face would be a good start. And a completely different dress.

  • allisankelly

This is almost a WERQ. I just hate those curtain bangs!!!! This color looks really good on her.

  • anotherkate

Would it kill her to wear some blush (and a smile)? Who aims for “severe” at 25?

  • marilyn

I am wondering if this dress loses its  style when not moving.  The runway model is walking and the dress seems to come alive. I think this is a Jerry Hall dress.  In fact, the runway model looks vaguely like her-back-in-the-day.  Also, I am wondering if the lighting is the problem.  There is no direct lighting in Florence’s picture, so the dress looks mousey.   When you can get a really good look at the dress, in the picture with the runway model, the dress looks kind of frumpy with a ll those ruffles.  It took a bold model in motion, strong lighting and a lot of attitutde to give it style.  In repose (on Florence) it kinda looks like a bathrobe.

  • Corsetmaker

Now this is much better than those pale, washed out shades. Dramatic with enough edge to be a bit rock and roll.
Only thing is, Florence isn’t a short girl but that dress is still a mile too long. You’d need stilts for that to come close to fitting.

And. for the weather we’re getting at the moment the dark colour and long sleeves are entirely seasonally appropriate.

  • Sara__B

At least this is a change from “Florence, the wan consumptive who feels everything more deeply than you” to “Florence, the evil enchantress who will bewitch you with her stare”.  I’d prefer “Florence, the talented 25-year-old who expresses herself, not a character, through fashion”.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

If is great if she’s in the southern hemisphere where it’s currently winter.  It doesn’t look like a summer frock in the slightest, but the color and style are gorgeous.

    • Corsetmaker

The winter weather in the southern hemisphere is probably still better than it is in the UK at the moment.

  • BradWatson

I so don’t get her as a style diva. Great music – but outside of studio promo shots, she’s a total pretender. (And not in the fabulous Chrissie Hynde way.)

  • http://twitter.com/grooxcore Marie Ee

    Upsetting. HER ARM.

  • Aurumgirl

That colour is amazing.  But it is truly the dress made of a bedspread.

  • Qitkat

Her face and pose, while not the same, remind me of when Christian Siriano insisted on doing his *I’m so fierce* persona s**t.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

everything looks great except the view of her armpit. looks way better on her than on the runway model.

  • terekirkland

I guess if there’s one person in the world who can wear this dress…

It’s nice to see SOME of her figure, at least.

  • Julianne Johnson

Is it just me or is there something about the hair and makeup that age her by about twenty years? Not a fan.

  • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

This might be a personal best for Flo here. However, it ought to come back in the winter. With an up do.

  • Coralie Legister

She looks like Disney Cinderella’s evil stepmother at a young age. Seriously Google it.
