  • Super_Red

what IS WRONG with this girl?!?!? love the shoes, though.

    • Jessica Rowe

It’s just all bad.  all bad.

    • amf0001

      that was exactly my thought!

  • Sobaika

How did Roksanda Ilincic’s work suddenly appear on every starlet? Especially when it doesn’t work on most starlets?

  • MarissaLG

    Scroll. Down. Fug.

    • AlexisPayne

Serious scroll down fug, and then you see the shoes which are fierce, also the dress needs some tailoring.
      This makes me sad.
Also in this lighting her make-up looks harsh.

    • http://twitter.com/sillytwigg twigg

      and scroll up fug.

    • Aurumgirl

       More like Neck. Down. Fug.

  • lilibetp

Doesn’t even come close to fitting.  And that ruffle thing at the bottom looks like something my cat could sew.

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Wow. It looks so much heavier and un-June-ish on her than on the model (that must have been one HELL of a flashbulb on the runway). And there’s that big fat strip of WHYYYYYY?! going around the bottom.

  • tonibaloney

Almost kinda sorta works in the pic where she’s walking, but that’s only because the shadows obscure how terribly the dress fits her, and it draws attention to the FIERCE shoes.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

It MIGHT have worked if the damn thing fit and if that damn ruffle wasn’t quite so heavy.

      • sweetestsith

I vote for ripping off that horrifying ruffle. The base dress is cute, and the ruffle is just so awkward and misplaced.

  • HeatherMcIlrath

i was behind this look…until i scrolled down to that giant teal thing growing out of the bottom of the skirt. whoever is dressing her needs to be sent to rehab. because they are addicted to ugly clothing items.

  • allj

At first I thought you guys were kidding about her stylists… but they really are out to destroy her. Killer shoes, though

  • In_Stitches

It’s kind of a de-emphasized mermaid which needs a curvier girl to work.  The makeup ages her terribly, the hair is…fine, and the shoes are great, just not for this look.  All together, it’s a bit of a mess.

  • SusiePamudji

What is the bottom of that dress? Love the shoes though.

  • kikisayshi

Why? Why? Why? Kills shoes though!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

    GIVE ME THOSE SHOES

  • MilaXX

    NOT. YOUR,DRESS !!!!!
I actually like the dress on the model, but this is yet another dress that requires at least model height to work. The model also appears to either have been better fitted in the dress or has curvier hips than Emma. That one little detail is the difference between a sack and an unusual dress. On Emma, sadly we get the sack.

  • TheOriginalLulu

The dress just hangs on her. It’s terrible. That awful hem…it looks like she’s wearing a sheath dress over a blue taffeta prom dress.
    The shoes, however, are gorgeous.

  • BazoDee

Oh I love the shoes!!! It is so dark -but it looks like there are some fit issues around the waist. The color is good. Hair and make-up are good. The blue ruffle has to go back to 1987 though!

  • mommyca

it doesn’t help that the dress doesn’t fit her…. (also it appears to be some kind of Frankendress, as I see some blue in the back?)

  • moppet

Um…I like the shoes? I suspect this is a dress that looks better in movement (the appearance of movement) than in stillness. Because the model looks okay, but on Emma it looks…not okay.

This woman is frustrating me. Instead of wearing her clothes, I feel like she’s allowing her clothes to wear her…and her stylist appears to have multiple personality (clothing) disorder because I can’t detect any “through line” on what these clothes are supposed to say about her. Other than that she has access to expensive clothes.

  • marilyn

She is not curvy enough to wear this.  And the colors are too dark for her.

  • jilly_d

    worst. fit.  evah.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

you have nothing to say about this?

okay, i’ll say it. this is the most hideous dress she has ever worn, ever, in her entire life, ever. ever. it is, in fact, one of the most hideous dresses worn by anyone in the western world in all of their individual & collective lives, up to [or down to, depending upon yr perspective] those of us who have plenty of money & choose to go to places like ross dress for less due to a disinterest in fashion. i cant think of anyone more fashion clueless–the combine of money & chintz does it, for me, anyway. but this, this was not cheap. it was, is, just bad. do people still say kill it w/ fire or is that so four months ago? regardless, do it.

    edited to add:
horrible on the actress, frightful on the model &–if you look closely–you will find that the back of the dress matches not the front of the dress but its unforgivable bundlecrap of a ruffle. just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water [& please excuse the double cliché]: frankendress. wow. thats a whole lotta ghastly for one poor little starlet in one poorly made garment to be impelled to endure.
    also:
armadillo bride? armadillo bride? if they didnt look like they were putting no effort towards making her look like her feet were not killing her, they might be a pretty shoe or two. but they hurt & it’s obvious. plus the name, it hurts too.

    • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Dear god, how many times are we going to say this?  Just because it’s on the whiteboard, it doesn’t mean we don’t have anything to say about it. It means that we only have so much time to write that many posts (usually between 7-10 on the main page every day), but we still want to feature the looks we didn’t have time to get to. L

    • formerlyAnon

Wow. I did not even notice (though the strip of blue is clearly visible on her shoulder in a couple of those photos) that the dress is patchwork with the ruffle fabric on her back side.

Makes me sad, because I liked the de-ruffled wine sheath, when I thought it was a wine sheath all the way around.

      • kimmeister

Good catch, I so did not even notice that either.

  • http://twitter.com/commish24 commish24

So why is she wearing the hotel dust ruffle under that beautiful sheath?

  • TieDye64

Shoes are fierce as shit. It’s the only positive thing I’ve got.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZFKRECRF5BOBWB4RXAJGI4D6KA mmc

    Please…no more Emma…

  • Lina_bee

This dress is a complete waste of those shoes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/D.D.D.Dino Dino Bonačić

    better than on the model!

  • http://twitter.com/jessicapippin Jessica Pippin

Love the shoes and the color of the top of the dress. The length is confusing & that stupid ruffle at the bottom just ruins it.

  • unbornfawn

I just want to yank off that blue thing.

  • chelwi

Is it too big on her? I like the picture from the side, but something is off (and I don’t think it’s just the giant blue dust ruffle).

  • pattyw

Meanwhile, WWD says: “The Amazing Emma Stone–her fashion chops might be as stellar as her acting.” Time for an editorial change at WWD, with TLo on the masthead.

  • 3boysful

That is one sad sack of a dress.

  • crash1212

Coulda been cute – sand dust ruffle – with a bit of jewelry. Love the shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

Again…everything is good until you get to the bottom, then the record scratches…

  • mhleta

Is this your first ever unanimously despised outfit, TLo? I have nothing good to say about this dress. Not a single thing. Unless of course…but maybe…perhaps the fabric….or the color? Nope, I can’t even pretend to rub one out here. I got nothing.

  • formerlyAnon

I know that designers want to show that they’re creative! unique! innovative!

But why put an ugly and pointless dust ruffle on the bottom of a LOVELY wine red sheath?

(ETA: And since it’s not 50 years ago, it’s probably her management company or the public relations firm or the distribution company or even the film’s production company, not “the studio.” But I still talk like it’s 50 years ago, I’m afraid.)

And, lord god, woman, I know you’re probably exhausted and sick of your co-star, whether or not you two are really dating. But WHY would you agree to wear this travesty? If it’s the best your people could come up with, the studio needs to get you better people for their endless tour.

The sheath sans dust ruffle with those shoes would be wonderful. (even though the shoes look like torture devices to wear)

  • julnyes

Hate the dress, love the shoes

  • ThaliaMenninger

I think a 14-year-old clinically depressed child on the lam from a polygamist cult made that dress in her home ec class in 1970.

  • Funkykatt

Wasn’t this dress designed on ’24 hour Catwalk’?

  • jmorino08

It looks like a completely different dress on the model. It’s so shapeless on Emma! Why can’t stylists properly fit clothes to their clients?

  • l3icest3r

The teal panel/ruffle thing at the bottom makes her walk like that guy in the Robert Crumb “keep truckin’” comics.

  • Amy Ellinger

tailoring could have saved it. Love the shoes.

  • Scarlet39

This dress is so ugly, I almost thought Stella McCartney had designed it.

    • formerlyAnon

      Ha!

  • Sara__B

These celebrities need to literally lighten up and acknowledge the season.  Here’s a dress from another fall collection, and a not very attractive dress at that. Just because it’s sleeveless and paired with light shoes doesn’t make it summery!

    • littlemac8

I know, just removing sleeves doesn’t make it summery1  And I’m sorry those shoes do not go with that dress or perhaps any other dress.  They looks like only a masochist would wear them.  They might be fun to admire in your mirrored closet where all your shoes are displayed on cunning built-ins and maybe, just maybe, it would be entertaining to strap them on and admire yourself while posing in front of your full length mirror, but anything else would be life threatening and oh so painful.  I shudder to think of the foot problems these young women are going to have in the future.

  • kingderella

you know what? i like this on her. i think the colours are very beautiful and go wonderfully with her hair and the shoes. the design is unusual and cute. i even dont mind the weird boob-pleat-thingies. however, the fit could be better, especially when copared to the runway picture.

  • schadenfreudelicious

i couldn’t sew if my life depended on it, but i think even i could do better than this…i will however take those shoes off her hands immediately…..

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

I think I made that dress in High School….hire a stylist girl, your pretty!

  • TSkot

What is that, a dust ruffle??

  • quiltrx

That was a new one…love/scrolldown fug/love.  Take out that blue shit, and I really like it.  Those shoes are fab.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

    That’s just wrong.

  • nannypoo

Well, this sure is unattractive. I don’t like her hair or makeup here either. She is a pretty woman, but nothing here is working.

  • SapphoPoet

I’m going against the flow here; I kind of like this dress. I think it’s an interesting concept and I love the turquoise ruffle/pouf at the bottom. The whole thing sort of reminds me of a tailored flamenco dress (I know, call me crazy but that’s what I see), which, as they’re in Spain, is kind of appropriate. I don’t think the shoes work with this at all, though.

  • guest2visits

So pretty til you scroll… the dress is great without the flappy blue ruffle, love the shoes with it.
Too bad it wasn’t finished off on the bottom with a flat, straight, band of that teal.

  • PaulaBerman

Is she running out of dresses to wear on this endless promo tour and just grabbing things at random now?

  • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

It has no waist on her, so the poor girl looks like she has a ridiculously long torso and stubby short legs. Hilarious. That’s why you have clothes TAILORED.

  • Larkin21

Wow, that’s shapeless and a bad length. The dress looks amazing on the model.

  • RzYoung

The dress is so ugly it makes me want to cry. There, now isn’t that exactly the reaction the designer was looking for?

  • belfebe

Chop that awful blue rag at the bottom and give her a fierce pair of shoes and she’s golden.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

    Whoah, scroll-down FUG, yikes!

  • Amy T.

Love the colors of the dress & the shoes, but the proportions do not work on Emma at all.  I think the model is even having a tough time pulling it off.

  • melanie0866

    Yuck.

  • http://twitter.com/delysia_lafosse Delysia LaFosse

YIKES. Apart from Iman and her fellow goddesses, I don’t know who’s going to be able to pull of that dress. I think we can all agree, though, that it won’t be Emma Stone. Hair and makeup are unimpressive. The shoes are pretty cute, however.

  • Rebecca Johnson

Someone stole her waist. What an awful dress.

  • SophieCollier

Terrible color.  It’s reflecting red all over her face and arms.  It looks kinda chic on the runway photo, but on Emma it’s weird.  Agree with y’all that the shoes are ginchy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001071063284 KateKate IsSquared

Needs to lose about a foot of material.

  • Snailstsichr

All I can think of is a story I heard from my Mother abut a teacher she had who had been in the service in WWII and, to save money when she returned to civilian life, added a foot of fabric to the bottom of her military uniforms so they would be a more appropriate length for a teacher.
To quote my Mother, “We would have felt sorry for her, but she didn’t have that kind of personality.”

  • mjude

WTF?  i too love the shoes

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

That dress looks really cool in motion but really awkward when standing still. Despite this, I like it a bit but it could stand to be a skosh shorter on her.

  • Allison Woods

    Sad little brown dress.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I’d kill for those shoes, but the dress just isn’t doing it for me. It’s dark, heavy, and doesn’t seem to fit her very well.

  • kikisayshi

Cut off that fugly teal thing and it looks like a suit dress I used to have from JC Penney. Killa shoes though.

  • Pennymac

When I’d have a growth spurt my mother would do that to the bottom of my dresses. Just sayin….

  • Cat_In_A_Hat

    Cute shoes. Not her dress.

  • NurseEllen

    Awful dress.  Shoes are faboo!

  • http://twitter.com/kerrymccombs Kerry McCombs

    Godawful.

  • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

Great colors, TERRIBLE fit, and what is up with those shoes? They do not belong here.
