Pretty. Appropriate. Looks hot and sweaty! I love Maui….not sure about those shoes, though.

Agree with the shoes. I feel like she would have some serious foot sweat-stank going on.

  • MarissaLG

Listen, I get it. It’s Maui. Still, this look is too beachy.

    Emh, no. Too literal.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Either that lei with some chic, not-Hawaiian-print beachwear, or that dress with some not-lei accessories. But put ‘em together, and yeah, too literal.

      • AmandaCathleen

What you said. It sounds kind of silly to say, but that lei is killing the look. It would still be cheesy in another color, but as is, it’s cheesy AND it’s too matchy. It almost fades into the dress, but in an oddly distracting way.

  • kikisayshi

She looks like she’s in Hawaii. Love.

Just because you are in Hawaii, doesn’t mean you should dress Hawaiian.

  • http://twitter.com/nova1000 sarah

If she owed the Hawaii Tourism Board a favor, then her debt is paid. I like the dress, but accessorized with a lei and sandals, it looks like she’s on vacation.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I love it! Perfect for a slightly more casual event in a tropical location. And I love the earrings, too. The shoes are a bit heavy for my taste, but they’re not offensive.

If at all possible, I may have selected a different lei for her, because it blends in with the bodice of the dress and makes the colors look a little muddy. If it were a different color, it would have been more immediately obvious that it’s a lei.

    • kimmeister

Agreed, at first glance I thought the lei was part of the dress.

what other shoe choice does she have for this dress, I think the sandals are appropriate. I am guessing that the film festival hands out the leis and she didn’t come from the hotel sporting it on her own.  I think she looks great.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

it’s almost a really pretty dress. it’s just that, you know, she looks a little too much like a butcher.

Oh please, this is fun and pretty. When in Hawaii go with it.  But I’m not a fan of the shoes.

Lovely dress but her face is looking a bit ruddy here. Sunblock!

  • JasmineAM

Might as well have worn a hula skirt and coconut bikini. She looks happy and comfortable, so who cares? Fugly shoes, btw.

  • amf0001

I like the dress,  I’m pretty sure she was given the lei,  and didn’t chose to accessorize with it,  and the shoes… it’s hard to walk on grass and uneven surfaces in spindly heels.. at least they are functional.
I think she looks sun tussled and happy.  Always a good look in my book

  • Lilak

Not crazy ’bout the shoes, but I understand the choice.  Otherwise, the only thing that’s getting in the way is the lei — on its own, the dress is kinda purty.

  • anotherkate

Aw, she looks happy. (Hard not to be in Maui, wearing Erdem, but still!)

  • allisankelly

That is a really cute dress and good shoes, too. Totally appropriate for the Maui film fest.

  • MilaXX

She looks like a vacation advert. Bad hair, wrong shoe & remove the lei.

    • Amy Ellinger

      Yes.
That or a “Special Hawaii Episode” of a trendy sitcom.

  • jmorino08

This looks like a picture I had taken on my Honeymoon.

  • TieDye64

    Those shoes. Really?

  • Lina_bee

Cute! Granted, the earrings are too big and the shoes are too clunky, but it’s fine overall and entirely event appropriate.

  • Lisa Dugan

    Beachy and pretty.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I like the shoes on the runway model better, but still, this is an ok outfit for Maui.

  • Qitkat

Don’t understand what’s the issue with wearing a floral design in Hawaii. She looks pretty. She probaby didn’t choose the lei as it blends right in with the dress.

Having lived in Hawaii, I can say that aloha wear is pretty commonly worn among locals, as well a tourists.  Most places of business have an “Aloha Friday,” which would be like “Casual Friday,” on the mainland.  Men wear their aloha shirts with khakis, and ladies wear aloha-floral dresses (and often muumuus).  She doesn’t seem at all out of place to me.  And I agree with others that she was likely given that lei, rather than choosing it herself.

I don’t have a problem with the wedges as footwear for this, except that they’re just ugly.

      • Qitkat

Not surprised to see you say this. I recall seeing lots of florals when I spent a short, but fabulous vacation there. I figured they all weren’t tourists. Now I really want to go back…

  • AlexisPayne

    Love!

The lei is both a bridge too far and also oddly matchy with the dress. At first glance, it looked like part of the dress to me. Other than that, I think the dress is very pretty on her. I’m not a fan of the nude shoes, but at least they look reasonably okay with the dress. I’m also really not a fan of her hair pulled back like that.

  • marilyn

Don’t like the shoes, but the dress works for this event.  Heck, SHE’S IN HAWAII, for goodness sake!

I would like to comment that I am getting tired of seeing her so much.

  • Allison Woods

I LOVE the dress, but I hate every bit of styling. A little sophistication with your accessories here, please.

  • Sara__B

If she’s on vacation, it’s fine. If she’s working, it’s too much Hawaii.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

Somehow she looks like a 1st grade teacher at her 15 year HS reunion.  That is not a compliment.

  • guest2visits

The hair style’s too frumpy; a sleek ponytail or up-do would be much better.  (cooler too)
I think I would rather she was barefoot than wearing these particular shoes; again kind of frumpy.

  • annrr

would have worked and looked more “effortless” with some flip flops

  • Alisa Rivera

    Beautiful dress, shoes are hiddy.

  • RzYoung

Stunning, but I defo prefer the shoes the model’s wearing but the putty sandals aren’t that offensive I guess. Damn this girl dresses good!

  • http://twitter.com/LOfficielEbony TheVeryLivingEND

    I love this dress.

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

She looks great, but she should have worn sandals.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

    Love her, not the dress.

  • NurseEllen

I guess this is appropriate for Hawaii but the proportions seem wrong–the skirt is too long and I hate that dropped waist band.  Overall, she could have done better.

  • Cat_In_A_Hat

    Perfectly appropriate.
