    OMG want that coat, thanks.

  • Diane Ellis

She and the Prince look smashing.

I don’t think she belongs on the Whiteboard. This deserves a full-fledged post! They both look lovely in matching blue. So many different shades of blue all at once. He”s wearing a single-breasted suit for what seems like the first time.

    • ChiKat67

I was thinking the same thing re: Wills and his suit.

    • Jenna Kuhmann

      Agreed on all counts!

    • Sarah Dickerson

I’ve been on such a Mad Men binge this week that my first thought was “Look at all the blues they’re wearing!  Janie Bryant is tying them together by color and showing that they are a solid couple!”  Sad.

  • http://twitter.com/thelilerin erin l.

She’s worn it before, this year in fact. And I hate the shoes. So… nothing new. Will is looking good :)

  • http://twitter.com/msjwatt J.Watt

Princess Kate, the princess who re-wears things. Also FABULOUS coat.

  • http://www.katidom.com/ Kati B

The shoes are totally mumsy, but I love the coat.

  • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

    Too much blue! But pretty.

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

    Perfect.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Damn it Catherine, stop being so perfect.

  • http://www.facebook.com/AntoniaDonnelly Antonia O’Connor Donnelly

Love the coat, would rather have seen a different hat and the shoes look geriatric.  I like that she wears the same thing more than once.  He looks good too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/teresaec Teresa Enright Campbell

I can’t believe you didn’t give the single-breasted suit its own post! I love everything about it, even the boring shoes, although another color may have been better. With legs like hers, who even cares about the shoes?

  • MK03

LOVE. These are the only two people who can make coordinating outfits not seem pukey and twee.

  • Kyle Crawford

This may be the VERY first time that he is stealing a little bit of her much deserved thunder.. They both look great.

  • Judy_J

Love them both in blue! That coatdress is perfect, and the fascinator is the crowning touch!

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s extraordinarily matchy-matchy, but I get that that’s the Royal way. The jacket is gorgeous, as is the hat. And I’m thrilled that Prince William is wearing a single-breasted suit that fits him way better than what he normally wears!

  • http://twitter.com/msjwatt J.Watt

Also, I want to know what she carries in her tiny purses.

    • tripletmom96

probably not much — i recall reading that princess diana carried very little in her purse — she had a lady-in-waiting who carried everything she really needed included an extra pair of hosiery (and she used to wear some pretty wild hose with embellishments on the ankles) plus makeup, hairbrush, etc..

  • In_Stitches

Having just googled the late Princess Di to confirm my suspicions, there is absolutely no need for her to be dressing so conservatively.  Yes, she’s a princess and that comes with a restrictive set of rules regarding fashion, but she is taking them to the absolute extreme.  I’m sick of her octogenarian style.

    • http://twitter.com/msjwatt J.Watt

Princess Di was a lady. Kate was a commoner. Different set of rules, tbh. Plus, I don’t think she’s doing anything wrong. This is her style aesthetic. So you don’t like it…that’s fine, but I don’t think she’s 100% doing this on purpose. I really do think this is her own sense of style.

      • Aurumgirl

I’m not so sure about that.  Sarah Ferguson was a commoner too, and she was subjected to no such restriction where her clothes were concerned.  I just think we have become much more puritanical about everything these days, and it’s telling when the Queen is consistently more fashionable and stylish than a granddaughter in-law who is 60 years younger than she is.

    • RebeccaKW

I agree with J.Watt.  If you don’t like her style aesthetic, fine.  But just because Diana dressed a bit more fashion-y or took a lot of style risks doesn’t mean every other young royal must do that also.  I also disagree that she’s got octogenarian style.  Kate shows that you can wear conservative clothing and still be stylish and beautiful.  I also think Kate is not really interested in being ‘known’ for her fashion.  Yes, part of that comes with the territory, but she certainly isn’t seeking it out.

  • TheOriginalLulu

Beautiful color on her. I love it. Just not sure if I like the navy hat with it and the shoes are a snooze.

  • SapphoPoet

Love it. That’s a fabulous blue on her and she’s wearing Diana’s favorite earrings (I think she had them reworked). And, wonder of wonders, miracles of miracles, she has her hair pulled back. Baby steps.

  • mznormann

Loved the coat the first time she wore it. Love it again now!

  • http://twitter.com/commish24 commish24

Hey, Wills finally got a decent suit! Woo hoo!

  • Sara__B

I can’t be objective with these two. The photos are some of the worst I’ve seen of Kate, but she’s still beautiful. Exciting? No. charming and ladylike? Yes!

  • donnaINseattle

I’d like to see the coat without her hands in front of her or cut off at the bottom. Mostly because I’m pretty darn sure I love it, but I like to confirm before committing myself. I do like the hat, but not the tan.

  • AlexisPayne

    Gorgeous!

Did Will finally return his father’s suit?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TH56FXRFTLCQNTN3JNFIYM7JPY Pattie knitter

I love the color on her, but the coat is too much the Queen’s style.  Also, I love hats, but this fascinator looks like a hot water bottle plopped on her head.

  • TRSmith

They both look beautiful, but I hope Kate steers away from the Queen’s habit of being monochromatic all the time…

  • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

    Ummm… mmmm… eeeeh

Will, just get an all around buzz cut.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Linda-Ritchie-Unger/1497801615 Linda Ritchie Unger

She always looks “smart”.  And I never criticize her shoes, she is on her feet all day, and as someone whose feet blister at the sight of fashion-y heels, I understand where the comfortable boring shoe is coming from.

    • amf0001

I’m 100% with you on the shoes.  She is not wearing them for 5 mins,  like those crazy Beyonce heels. She’s on her feet for hours and she needs shoes that work.  I’m always giving her a pass on the shoes.
She’s like an airline stewardess,  she’s a working woman and the shoes have to work

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LI35AZLWSZEYRDZ4PUCBHUCZUI Jonathan

It really bugs me when people criticize or make snarky comments about her or Anna Wintour or someone because they re-wear clothes multiple times. It seems perfectly healthy to me for celebrities to re-wear expensive clothes because they happen to like them. Just because you have access to endless quantities of clothes does not mean you should constantly go out in new clothes especially if the new clothes don’t suit you just so you avoid wearing the same thing multiple times.  If you love an item go for it and wear it more then once. rant over. But i really love this coat and I’m glad she is wearing it more then once.

  • http://twitter.com/nomerstoo Nomers

He’s starting to look better, less of his father’s clothes. Great look on her, except those shoes. Maybe it is all a little tooo matchy-matchy, but it somehow works with them two.

  • MilaXX

Love her coat. Poor WIlliam, some days I wish he would just shave all his hair off and be done with it.

  • http://twitter.com/WhoraRabinowitz Rizzle

I wish she wasn’t always so monochromatic

  • marilyn

She is beautiful, and I love everything but the hat.  Too bad she has to wear them.  They make her look a lot older and aa lot more than she is.

  • PaulaBerman

That coat looks like low-nap carpeting to me. It makes her look shapeless. Do not like.

  • formerlyAnon

Now THAT is a coat it would be extremely easy to look dowdy in. But she’s so slim and nicely accessorized, no worries. He is, as always stunningly just fine.

No wonder the royals are mostly said to love their semi-rural retreats – it must be lovely to step outdoors in casual clothes and muddy boots.

  • crash1212

Hat looks like a blue pot sticker with a feather. Thank Cathy, now I want pot stickers! Not my favorite of her coat dresses, but am thankful she switched up the shoes. Of course she look fab in just about anything an it’s only the constraints of her position that require these sorts of get-ups.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=11518328 Kim Sheehan

In the middle photo she looks a bit like a young Diana Rigg.

  • TieDye64

Whoa, that’s a lot of blue. Still, she looks chic and he looks damn good too.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I thought I saw this before and reading the comments affirmed it. I am glad she is not afraid to re-wear looks and this was a winner. It must still be really cold in England. Yuck.

  • boweryboy

It’s tweedy, heavy, frumpy and matronly but she manages to pull it off…just barely.

  • Lilithcat

    Lovely coat, silly hat.

  • quiltrx

Great coat!  I’m sad that his hair seems to be making a rapid departure.

And I’m not sure about this fascinator.  It’s a little too much 40s-candy-box for me.

  • guest2visits

Such a beautiful color for her. They both look wonderful. They both look far away and contemplative.  Must be all these beautiful blues, reflected in the windows, the stone, and the iron.

  • Cat_In_A_Hat

That coat is perfect for her.

  • Charles Barthelme

She’s going to give Diana’s reputation a run for its money if she keeps dressing so fabulously. Not only a great outfit, but she’s definitely wearing her clothes, instead of letting them wear her. Rock on, princess!

  • jmorino08

Why do they look so orange? That’s some weird Oompa Loompa lighting going on!

  • lizajane1776

I feel like channeling David Tennant’s Doctor Who:
Don’t you think she looks tired?

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

Adorable…but that hat looks like a hemorrhoid cushion, y’all.

  • mike__tv

I’m so tired of everyone fawning over these dull predictable outfits.
