Are those cutouts on her hips revealing SKIN?  UGH!!!

I like the hair, makeup and the dress except for the droopy bust and the hip flesh slits!

    • Kolo_Ol

Yes, it’s a stunning dress, but the cutouts are too much and she needs support for the ladies

    • piecesofconfetti

I was about to ask the same thing. I can get behind the look until that part. Blech.

      • Nonnah

Here’s my boobs and here’s my muffin top.

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

That, as Tim Gunn would say, is a lot of look.

    • MzzPants

I agree, but I think she’s pulling it off.

      • mshesterp

Me too! I think she looks pretty smashing, when often she’s been the “poor man’s penelope cruz” to me for years.  I think she’s working it.  It does seem a little OT for Madagascar 3 red carpet, but whatever.  It’s a red carpet, she wants to show off.

        • Judih1

I like it to, but think it is too over the top for this venue.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

    Not a fan.

  • Beth G

For some reason this just seems so out of place for a KIDS movie premier.  Plus… I’m not a fan.

    • Jessica O’Connell

Agreed! Especially the hip cut outs. If it was just a plunging neckline I probably would have been fine with it, but the extra unnecessary skin exposure just crossed a line for me. You’re at the premiere for an animated sequel movie, Paz. It’s not that serious.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1253053236 Belle Burnett

Well…I’m glad she skipped the glove-bracelet things.
I like her nailpolish and the ring. And it’s just enough side boob to be interesting and not trashy (Ri-Ri needs to see this).
I guess I’m just not 100% in love with the dress. I like the skirt and the feathers, and the top with the keyhole and the sleeves. And sort of the belt? But around the middle there, are those cutouts? Not liking that. Is that the reflection of the red carpet or is there something red going on with the belt?
No, it raises too many questions, and that sort of works against the movie or whatever she’s supposed to be selling, right?  Earrings are beautiful.
Also, when I first saw the name Paz, I expected messy makeup and maybe a nipple slip. Wrong Paz.

  • http://twitter.com/kathyvr Kathy Van Ryzin

    Hello, Paz Vega’s underboob.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lydia.manalo Lydia Manalo

Agree; interesting dress, but not wonderful.  Hair and make-up are perfect!

  • HeatherMcIlrath

first of all, why is Madagascar 3 at the cannes film festival?
second of all, why the hell is she wearing that divaqueenbitch gown (even though it has awkward cutouts) to a madagascar 3 premiere?

    • TieDye64

It seems to be the place where all the ladies are wearing the most outrageous gowns. With trains. Yeah, I don’t get it, either.

    • Lisa_Cop

There are always big commercial films (usually American) shown out of competition at Cannes. They’re there solely to get big press. This just happens to be 1 of them.

  • minnye

It’s totally outrageous but somehow (for me) it works. She’s wearing it very, very well.

  • http://twitter.com/kathyvr Kathy Van Ryzin

Sweet Jesus! Those are cutouts?! yeesh…

  • crash1212

Was gonna wax poetic about how lovely this dress is…until I realized that was SKIN showing out from under the belt. BLECH! Seriously. Way to ruin a perfectly stunning dress Stéphane Rolland.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

    What a FrUgly dress!

  • Lilyana_F

Haaay, boobs! OK, girl, you werq that fierce dress, if u have to :) Like, seriously, the goal here was BOOBS, right?

  • HobbitGirl

I like architectural details in gowns, but that bust cutout is just tack. “HEY TITS” should not be the first thing one thinks on the red carpet.

    • kimmeister

As tacky as the bust cutout is, what’s sad is that it’s not even the worst cutout on the dress.

  • Yosa Addiss

Ooh, looks a bit too much like a body waxing strip was pulled off her cleavage.  Nice try though, it is almost wonderful!

  • MzzPants

Wish the hair was sleeker.  Otherwise…yowsa!

  • Elias Pineda

i was hoping to see some dresses of that colection on the oscars but noone take that risk. anyways i love how she looks here  i dont care the boobatention  she looks fierce

  • kittenwithaquip

Oddly enough, I don’t mind the hip cutouts. I just think that putting the belt on the dress makes it all too busy looking. I think I would like it better if she not only ditched the belt, but also made the black mid-section band more substantial and the boob cutout less revealing. The shape of the sleeve also bugs me.

So basically, I’d like this look if it was completely redone. Stéphane Rolland strikes me as a designer who really needs to edit, and rely less on shock value.

  • Hayley Doyle

    I like it!

  • TieDye64

Sorry, this just made me laugh. The cutouts, the hair, the train and of course the boobs. No bueno.

  • l3icest3r

The stone in the ring is very close in color to her nail polish. For a second I thought she had an extra thumb or something.

  • lalahartma

    No, no hip cutouts!

  • 3boysful

This might have been classily sexy (can one say that to describe a dress revealing that much torso?!), but the side cut-outs turn it into SKANK.

  • MilaXX

The more I see of this collection, the less I like it. This is particularly hiddy. The boob cut out is odd, making her boobs look saggy and the hip cut out is just ugly and I bored to death of muppet trains.

On a positive note, I do like the face and earrings.

  • SpcilK

    This totally works on her.

  • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

    What’s with the dragging-shaggy-carpets-around-trend?

  • http://twitter.com/chylde bellalozza

Banquet waiter gone mad with that white top, black bottom theme! But I LOVE it! Very sexy and original. She’s a beauty. Paz and Fan Bing Bing are tearing up Cannes runway.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Aside from the fact that the girls could have used a little more support, I think she looks rather striking. I really love it! Plus, I’d kill for those earrings.

  • Lina_bee

It’s a lot of dress, but the lifeless hair and harsh makeup are undermining everything the dress might’ve accomplished.

    • sekushinonyanko

Considering her usual makeup is 90s browny colors smeared all over her face like finger paint  I’d say the makeup is such a step up that I approve.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

You’re thinking Paz de le Huerta.

        • sekushinonyanko

Smacks head. WOW. THat is exactly what I am doing and that feels like a fail.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

Wow, it’s like … how many bad elements can be put into one dress?  Mermaid tail – check. Heart surgery neckline – check.  Hipbone holes – check. Cumberbund – check.  Weird metal waistcuff – check.  Horrible – CHECK.

  • Sara__B

Paz Vega is striking and memorable at first glance, but then the avalanche of details hits. Odd chest cut-out. Hip cut outs. Belt. Assymmetric sleeve hems. Feathers. Train. I hope there’s not a bow in the back.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/toodleskitty79?feature=guide AWS

Not as impressed with her as she is…

  • turtleemily

Was the obi added because the designer couldn’t figure out how to connect the weird boob cut-out to the hip cut-outs?

  • Qitkat

Is is just me, or is there something really peculiar about all the beautiful people in their designer couture gowns with trains attending Madagascar 3, a freaking cartoon movie?

    • FashionShowAtLunch

At freaking CANNES, no less. WTF.

  • mommyca

another frankendress?  i’m relieved she didn’t wear the freaky gloves the model is wearing….

  • guest2visits

She’s so beautiful, and the jewels are so beautiful; how I wish the dress didn’t have those hip-slits. Yuck.
I mean; she’s already got the fluffy train, the metal belt, the big cleavage thing. The cut-outs are one embellishment too far.

  • Molly OBM

I actually said “Ugh, boob window” out loud. Really hope nobody was listening!

  • http://twitter.com/TigerLaverada TigerLaverada

I feel stupid: I don’t understand this dress. What’s that stiff black thing around her waist? It reminds me of those back support belts guys wear when lifting heavy things to prevent hernias. Is that her skin showing at the top of the skirt?

The prevalence of fluff-bottomed evening gowns has me worried about the world’s ostrich population.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

i think they can just get the feathers from the hard, cold ground. or hot ground, or filthy ground, or whatever ground. i dont think they gotta kill the ostriches to get them. theyre just gonna shed all the time anyway. molt–that’s the word.

otoh, i may be the only person here, there & possibly everywhere who kinda sorta likes this dress–if w/ one or two alterations. still, more plus than minus to me. anyway.

  • TSkot

Poor, misguided starlet.  One can only shake their head.

  • marilyn

Stephane Rolland is a terrible designer.

  • http://twitter.com/ennisamy Amy Ennis

Man, everyone pulled out all the stops to attend Madagascar 3, didn’t they?

  • Zippypie

Madagascar 3 has turned out to be THE event of Cannes.  That says a lot.

This is pretty horrid, but for Paz, it’s absolutely puritan.

    • Lisa_Cop

What???? Read film critics and you will know Michael Haneke’s “Amour” is the film to watch.

  • http://twitter.com/jaythenerdkid Aaminah Khan

Fab from the neck up and the waist down. The middle is…problematic.

  • gabbilevy

This dress has all kinds of issues, but girl looks great. Points for making a meh dress sing.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Who is she and why is she wearing that? Ugh.

  • siriuslover

no. just no. too many cutouts, and that star trek pole around her waist doesn’t help.

  • http://twitter.com/pag_baj Paige Boerman

Too much going on with this dress. A bit too much look for her.

  • Lisa_Cop

Gorgeous, even with the underboob and très long train.

  • NurseEllen

Those are some amazing earrings.  I could do without the peek-a-boo at the waist, but I love all the red accents.  I would definitely give her an “IN” if this were an “in or out”.

    • lojoso

for a split second I thought you said peak-a-boob (:

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1314255041 Irina Ryabchuk

    Ardeco feather duster.

  • vanjar

Love the sleeves, the b&w and the belt. Don’t like the hip cut-outs and the feathers. A pencil skirt would’ve made this outfit work.

  • Verascity

Loving these Rolland dresses, but I don’t love the hair or makeup.

  • http://twitter.com/baxterb2 Bbart

I cannot. Two words: Vagina pockets.
…Another pair of words: Boob Vent.

  • Scarlet39

It works on the runway, but not on PZ.   Because she is bustier than the runway model, it veers into tacky territory.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

There are just so many bad things going on with this dress, one does not have enough hours in the day.

  • VicksieDo

Except for unfortunate hip cut outs, this is great. Love the neckline and the gold belty thing.

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

It’s very convenient that you can now have open heart surgery whilst preserving your modesty.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CQPXLNCBM5CZSHZZXJDHPVFS7E Buffy

Oh dear.  At least she wore pretty earrings.

  • mozzer0906

Paz, your boobs are drooping.  Listen, I may be a late-thirties mother of two and time and gravity are two cruel bitches, but if I had the chance to show up on the RC wearing thousands of dollars in dress?  I’d be damn sure Victoria and all of her Secret Technology would make my tits looks spectacular.  I’m always shocked at the amount of starlets who just phone in their boobs, like
“Meh, who cares if they look saggy.”  YOU SHOULD CARE!   The hip slits are another no.  I’d pop a dollar in one just to be mean.  Or I guess I could always put a dollar under her boob, goodness knows it would stay there all night.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=4501978 Martha Jackson Deutsch

    too much. waaaay too much.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/K3O2QNXDJIU3AJINAGNJRYWDZ4 mrspotts66

    fab earrings!
i think the boobs look fine.
the hip vents detract.  me no likey.

  • formerlyAnon

    Sweet Jesus NO.

Breast display which creates the impression of droop is counter-productive, no?

Weird hip cutouts on what looks like an elegant day dress attacked by shears melded to a gown trailing a feathery train?  NO.

  • Jennifer Hofstetter

She looks very beautiful, but I wish the cut outs weren’t there. I ALWAYS think it looks tacky though, so I don’t know.

  • Judy_J

    Another dress puking feathers!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

This would be pretty if you took away the hip cutouts and that stupid skirt.

  • http://www.MintaHall.com/ Minta Hall

Bet she leaves a trail of little dead feathers everywhere she goes.

    I’m just saying…

  • reddhouston

I realize it’s the Cannes Festival, but it’s also a premiere for an animated kids movie..which makes me think a floor sweeping gown with boob cutouts is too much.

  • AlexisPayne

Ugh, the hip cutouts ruin an otherwise stunning dress. Tsk Tsk.

  • Cathy S

The earrings are pretty cool. The dress is horrifying.

  • TheOriginalLulu

This would have been a gorgeous look if it didn’t have all those damned cutouts! So distracting.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/PKI5RTEEJ5TZIZII6VEN2G3D7A Caitlin

    Nope

  • Jess5628

HIP CUTOUTS! who on earth thinks those are a good idea?!?

Sad because, I’m actually okay with the boob window. I also love the phrase “boob window.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

This dress is working SO much better than it should theoretically be.

    • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

Although I’d like to see this with a sleeker skirt–something tells me it’d be the Galaxy Dress reincarnate.

  • LambeeBaby

It looks like it is on backwards AND I agree with the OP that it is WAY too much for the premiere of a kids movie.

  • lifetime_student

Pick ONE! Boob window or hip cutouts or huge feather duster skirt.

  • http://twitter.com/nkk Nikki

What the fuck… this should be on someone with a much less ample bussom- I think it’s a neat dress, but not for her.  Maybe Cate Blanchette could do this?  I don’t know, that train is soooo much, it’s very drag-esque (like TLo was saying about Eva Longora earlier, I conquer completely about this).

  • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

    What a lovely feather duster!
I actually kind of love it, though.

  • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

This is DARING and dramatic and for some reason I LOVE IT.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ali.sharpe.6 Ali Sharpe

Hair’s a mess and hip cuts are a little strange, but otherwise I really love the dress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

Looks like two (maybe three?) wildly different dresses collided violently onto her body. Cut-outs AND marabou? smh

  • http://twitter.com/Putting_On_Airs Kathleen

If it were a whole dress I’d love it but the cutouts ruin it for me. I also wish the hair was more polished.

  • wordphreak

    Tacky. And, not surprisingly. ugly.

  • Merridith Kristoffersen

Could do without the hip cutouts but otherwise GORGEOUS!

  • SouthernGirlRena

I think if you narrowed the between-the-boobs cutout and lost he hips cutout altogether it would be stunning.  I am wondering how one would walk in this dress – maybe very carefully inch backwards?  Her makeup is beautiful.  Love the color of lipstick on her!

  • Monabel

There is not way that bodice could fit right, on anyone.

  • http://twitter.com/hurricaneemilyy Emily Shaver

This is what I call SELLING A FUCKING DRESS. On anyone else I would have scoffed, but darling you are rocking it.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

The skirt and the top part of that top are gorgeous. Face and hair flawless, but those cut-outs… ugh. Honey, you don’t need to show that much skin.
