Wrong color! Wrong jewelry! It would also be cool if she looked into makeup.

    • lilibetp

Yeah, that color would probably look great on her buddy Nicole Kidman.

      • nancymae

        My thought exactly!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

I think that color would only look good on darker skin tones.  Awful on Nicole Kidman!

      • Bethany Fairbrother

Don’t think Nichole could have pulled this off either.  She does tend to dress in these flesh tones, though not to much success.  P.S.  Like that Nichole is going back to redder hair.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

Oh look, a pale blond star in a nude colored dress.  Yawn.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BUKL3CV3Y66UWR7BWYJMPSDRR4 Annie

        amen

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/K3O2QNXDJIU3AJINAGNJRYWDZ4 mrspotts66

i love the way the bodice lays against her skin…
it almost looks like raised scar tissue.

perhaps it looked better in person.

    • Lilyana_F

Ewww, cannot unsee the raised scar tissue now *shudders*

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_H3XBSNN3JLZWI4R2EPZ2BQYT5U Suzanne S

uggh even worse than my original thoughts

    • filmcricket

Anyone here read Harry Potter? You know how in OotP Sirius gets bitten by a snuff box full of wartcap powder and his hand goes all crusty for a minute? That’s all I could think of looking at this dress.

      - Super-geek Out.

    • EmilyMullasWilson

      My thought was leprosy.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Looks better from far away.  Up close.. ewww.. that’s a lot of chicken feathers.  Don’t think I’d like to wear it.  Lame hair.

  • Anathema_Device

Matches her skin too closely. Looks like she is molting. And that necklace is awful with it.

    • kimmeister

“Molting” was my exact thought too.

      • Cathy S

         Yes, molting. That’s it.

  • FlamingJune1967

”Designers, Your task today is to create a red carpet dress made entirely out of things found in the craft section of Michaels!”

  • claudemtl777

Like she’s been tarred and feathered by a tasteful gay posse…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1303837450 Lauren Dorsee Dillon

It would be wonderful as a cocktail dress without all the frippery at the bottom. Also, the necklace is competing with the dress rather than complementing it. I like the retro hair.

Now someone please explain to me what the “Whiteboard” is.

    • Melissa Brogan

Whiteboard is where TLo offer no commentary, just pics. We do all the commenting.

  • imperfectlaura

I feel like Marchesa to me is like Lea Michele to TLo. Whenever I see a Marchesa dress, all I want to say is “of course” because it is so Marchesa dresses have gotten so very old to me.

    • janetjb

For me it’s any cover of Nylon magazine.

      • imperfectlaura

        I can definitely see that.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

I’m going to just start calling it “Mehchesa”

  • http://twitter.com/GaraStJames Gara St. James

On the runway, it looks like the color is more a pale yellow, which would look better than that pale beige/fleshtone. She shouldn’t have messed it up with that giant necklace.

  • crash1212

LOVE the jewelry. Would scrap everything else – including the hair – and start from scratch. The hair, the skin, the dress – all match – creeps me out.

  • sherrietee

From a distance it looked like wadded up used kleenex was covering her dress.  How is that a good thing?

  • Spreecord

My 4 year old looked at the photos and exclaimed “Wedding things!?!” with obvious dismay. I can’t help but think her assessment is accurate. It’s all age-stained bridal from where I’m sitting.

The clutch is also an odd choice.

    • MsKitty

My very first thought was alternative wedding dress.  Love the color, but not on Naomi. Makes her look washed out.

  • RebeccaKW

Beautiful dress, but not her color.  Her face-so shiny.  That hair is doing nothing for her.

  • frannyprof

Looks like she did her own hair & makeup. And she never looks comfortable at these things.

  • mozzer0906

Marchesa needs to be banned from the RC …  forever

  • MzzPants

Good grief.  Haven’t we seen this dress eight THOUsand times???

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Oooooo. That color was an unfortunate choice, sweetie.

  • judith traherne

I wonder what those feathers look like after the screening is over?

Or do they not sit down to watch but merely make an entrance and then slip out the emergency exit before the show starts?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1253053236 Belle Burnett

Feathers. But not liking how it’s the same color as her skin.

  • filmcricket

Wrong, wrong, wrong; how can you live and be so wrong? Bad colour for her, the necklace is stunning but isn’t even on speaking terms with the dress, and the dress itself looks like a rare tropical skin disease. Go back to your hotel room and try again.

  • kittenwithaquip

Meh. It’s unoffensive, even pretty…until you start to look at it like she’s covered in scales. The main eyebrow-raising aspect to me is the fact that she wore that to a red carpet gig for “Madagascar 3″. Really? You’re in Cannes and you bust out the diamonds and Marchesa for “Madagascar 3″?

  • AlinaValero

she looks like she has a fluttery skin disease. but i love that necklace.

  • slightlybitterkitten

    She’s looking a bit consumptive.

  • nancymae

Love this dress but I think it needs someone sturdier to pull it off. Maybe Charlize or Gabrielle Union (her skin tone would kill with that peach)?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/GTG3A5BVL3JGIFT5M4MSPWYNCM Mathilde

Pretty dress (must have been beautiful in motion), wrong color. I really want to like Marchesa, but there’s always a little something to piss me off.

    • Super_Red

I agree… if this had been a gorgeous blue, it would have been perfect. I don’t like the weird poof at the bottom… if that had been cleaned up and it was a different color, I’d be snapping all over the place.

      • Melissa Brogan

Seriously. It fits Naomi wonderfully… but I can’t get on board with this color.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344314000 Anne Meek White

    Nope. That’s all.

  • Sara__B

The gown fits beautifully but the color matches her skin and the necklace is way too much for this busy dress. Maybe it’s the lighting, but her hair color looks wrong for her skin, too. Another red carpet look done in by the details.

  • siriuslover

    meh. too many feathers.

  • Terrie_S

From a distance, she looks like she has some sort of skin condition.

  • Melissa Brogan

Thighs up it is a beautiful gown in the absolute wrong color for Naomi Watts. I do not like the river of cloth from the thighs down. It works better on the model because there’s no puddle trailing after her that I can see.

Makeup is kind of understated for the gown, and hair is not especially flattering.

  • marilyn

    MOB

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

she is already molting. not a good sign. Yuck.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=5315792 Kari Den Otter

That necklace is gorgeous but paired with this dress it looks like something a ninety-year-old Grand Duchess smuggled out of Russia instead of Anastasia.  It’s too big and showy for this dress.  Which bring me to the dress, which is clearly the wrong color for her skin tone.  Totally agree with the previous comments about Nicole Kidman looking fantastic in this.  Also, it’s time to stage a shiny intervention.  Someone hold her down and apply powder.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I’m pretty sure this was on Pintrest: how to make a dress out of feathered flowers.  Even worse at a quick glace it looks like cotton balls all over the bottom of her dress.

  • MilaXX

UGH as if sheer skirts and lace wasn’t bad enough,we now get sheer skirts and feathers? Do not want.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/toodleskitty79?feature=guide AWS

    Gorgeous!  Stunning!

  • piecesofconfetti

    No. Sorry.

  • susu11

That necklace is gorgeous, but I’m on the fence about all the plumage. The color washes her out too.

  • janetjb

The fit is very good, but we all know the color is all wrong.

  • Scimommy

Horrible. Those blisters/scabs all over her upper body look contagious.

  • Sunshine16

    She’s molting!
Ditch the dress & find something else to go with that fabulous necklace, stat!

  • TheOriginalLulu

The effect on the bottom is as if the feathers are falling out of her vajayjay and onto the ground.
I love the fact that she wore jewelry, but that dress is a little sad looking. OUT

  • Julaine Morley

In this skin-matching tone, the bodice looks overworked instead of dramatic. And the neckpiece, hardly delicate enough to be called a necklace, is SO dramatic, it should be worn only with a dress of calming simplicity.

    • filmcricket

It wouldn’t even need to be something simple (although I agree with you that that would be best). They’re just totally competing (and opposing) styles. The necklace is all hard and spiky, while the dress is all soft and flowy. It’s like Trent Reznor going on a date with Taylor Swift. Does not compute.

  • 3boysful

Did I miss something?  Is Naomi zipping off to marry a crowned head of Europe after the movie premier?

  • kikisayshi

Has she grown feathers? Too nude, sister.

  • AlexisPayne

I like the runway version where it looks more golden but on the red carpet it looks like she has some terrible skin disease, kind of love the necklace with this dress. But something in the make-up/hair is off. Maybe a stronger lip?

  • sashaychante

The zipper could have been concealed a bit better on this dress.  Unfortunately, the color is washing her out.  Not loving the jewelry…choice of gray/silver is not helping her coloring.  Also, the swoosh needs to be a little more off center on the skirt to offset the giving birth to a massive length of tulle effect.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/PKI5RTEEJ5TZIZII6VEN2G3D7A Caitlin

    this. is. stunning.

  • Lina_bee

Oh, Naomi, why do you always dress in wall colors — or else like you’re the personal assistant meant to stand in the background and be invisible?  Your hair, skin, and dress are all within 3 shades of the same beige.  Feathers and a train aside, this makes you ghostly!  Now, if you redid this in a brilliant peacock blue, you would look smashing and I would only be bitching about the necklace.  You are so lovely! Dress like it!

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Unggghh. Where does she end and the dress begin?

  • DinaSews

I think it’s hilarious that they get this dressed up for a screening of Madagascar 3.  I keep imagining wearing a dress like this to take my grandsons to the movies. ;)

  • mjude

i kinda like the dress but the color is another story.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Bad color, wrong jewelery, and seems really formal for Madagascar 3…

  • Jennifer Hofstetter

    What. The. Sh*t.

It looks like she took a bunch of cotton balls, removed nana’s nail polish with them, and then glued them to a fly net. This dress is all kinds of wrong.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JO2ZPMWZR7BENRHIQ7DYGJP2HQ Melanie

When are all these beiges and nudes and flesh-tones going to go out of style?  Because they’re not good on the RC.  And I keep thinking “old bras” when I see them.

  • newleaf1

Another multi-thousand dollar dress for Madagascar 3?  Really?  Where is the perspective here?

  • http://www.MintaHall.com/ Minta Hall

    Looks a lot like a mama-of-the-bride dress to me. Or a 2nd (3rd, 4th…) wedding dress.

  • TieDye64

The color, or lack of it, is just horrid on her. Some of the detailing of the dress is interesting up close, but the overall effect is frothy fug. And the necklace is wrong and way too heavy looking for this dress.

  • petalfrog

I would love this if it weren’t the color of her skin

  • kat89

She’s like the invisible woman. Her hair, skin and dress are all the same color.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_H3XBSNN3JLZWI4R2EPZ2BQYT5U Suzanne S

panthyhose colored barnacles or fish scales-this dress made me physically ill to look at, and I’m seen some hot messes that didn’t induce nauea. Horrific.

  • ThaliaMenninger

No like. The color and the paste-on flowers are not pleasing to my eye.

  • TAGinMO

A skin condition in dress form.

  • belfebe

The dress is gorgeous, but it’s not a good color for her.  I am not sure that the necklace was necessary.

  • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

What others have said about the color, and as well, too many flowers trimming the dress like she just walked through the flower garden to get to the RC.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kimberly-Burke/100002384493067 Kimberly Burke

Necklace is glaringly wrong and that color makes her look like she’s molting.

  • http://twitter.com/jaythenerdkid Aaminah Khan

Such a pretty dress. Shame they had to make it out of Naomi’s twin sister’s skin.

  • Zippypie

This is a color would be lovely.  It’s not lovely in beige.  And it’s kinda scary how Naomi’s face is morphing into Nicole Kidman’s…..

  • Kolo_Ol

pretty, but I wish it was a different color

  • Lisa Dugan

Ohhh, no.  Poor beautiful Naomi.  That would have been striking in any other color but in this one it looks like a skin disease.  I suspect it may have worked better in person but, just no.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ENBX3563Q4ZNCVRGSJVFIB7OAA Thom

As per usual, I’m a sucker for “Hollywood-era” glam, but not a lot of attention was paid to the color sense: she’s a pale blonde woman in a dress the color of old bras, with a gunmetal grey clutch, and a silver-based diamond necklace, so none of these colors really augment each other. Also: Mamie Eisenhower hair.

  • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

Gwyneth, you TAKE these clothes right back in your time machine back to 1994!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Martha-Hicks-Leta/1059884884 Martha Hicks Leta

If I saw this dress on a mannequin at a museum I would swoon, I’m certain, at the incredible workmanship. I especially love the way the skirt flows around her feet. I can see how she got seduced by this dress, but the flesh color is death here because, as noted by others, it makes the feathers meld with her flesh in a very creepy illusion. Also, I would also like to see her in a short, sassy hair cut, maybe with some bangs. She’s definitely got the features to pull it off.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=561903133 Sage Andersen

how does such a lovely woman look so old?

  • Bethany Fairbrother

I think she looked good but she would have looked awesome with a little color.  Also not crazy about the accessories.

  • formerlyAnon

Like the dress, but not on her. Like the necklace, but not with the dress.

Her hair looks under-styled with the dress, as much because of the fly-aways as the basic style.

  • formerlyAnon

  • http://twitter.com/Putting_On_Airs Kathleen

A hideous skin condition dress. Sad.

  • allj

It looks like she took a wilderness survival course on camouflage. Great dress, but it needs a different color.

  • Daenyx

That would be GORGEOUS if it was in almost any other color.  Good grief.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Oh, look – another overworked skin-disease colored Marchesa. How… original.

  • CQAussie

This actually looks alright to me although it is a bit of a snooze fest….

  • guest2visits

I like it for her; especially in the first pic, it’s one long sweep of pale lightness. And I love that the embroidery is made of feathers.

  • quiltrx

AGAIN with the too-close-to-skin-and-hair-color!  As with most Marchesas, though, I think it’s a gorgeous gown.  Such an ‘almost’ with this look.

  • Anna Tree

She looks like she’s about to molt.

    • makeityourself

      Snort!

  • SatelliteAlice

I like the idea of this dress much more than I like it in actuality.  She needs way more color than this.

  • NurseEllen

Wow, that must be a gazillion dollars in diamonds around her neck.  Very impressive.

I was thinking about what TLo said about going to shows during Fashion Week, that one really has to SEE the gowns in person to appreciate the amount of work that goes into their construction.  I bet this is one of those gowns.  I can’t imagine the time it took to find feathers of the right size & shape, dye them and then sew them on by hand, all over a floor-length gown.  Oh, and then sew pearls on top.  It must be extraordinary.

However, two insanely attention-demanding items on one person at the same time is one too many.  Wear the jewels and go with a sleek & simple sheath, or wear the dress and lose the necklace.  But you can’t have both.

  • http://twitter.com/parrishdav Corey Davis

It looks like she’s developing some kind of disorder as she walks the red carpet that is turning her into a bird. or Lindsay Lohan

  • annamiklo

She looks better in it than the model does–but she still looks like a lumpy column of skin.  Gross.

  • RzYoung

Don’t like. The dress is pretty but literally does look like a skin condition (rather than the way we jokily say it, this time is actually does) and that necklace jars with it – is she obliged to wear the diamonds somehow? What a wasted opportunity.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VA5XLSF3QRELSC3MUFSXLP4EIE rebecca

Feathers at a “Madagascar” screening? Really? I mean, the dress is actually kind of cool – but as others have said, that color is all wrong.

  • Emily Guillory

What is that…3 nude dresses in a row?  Plus Brad in a beige suit…dude..it’s SUMMER, add some color, sheesh!

  • Faust Naoi

I thought I would like it more in any other color, because I liked the effect and the idea of the design.
But the more I look at her pictures, more I dislike the dress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

    NOOOOOOOO. WEAR A COLOR.

  • allisankelly

Feather flowers that look like a skin condition. Must be Marchesa.

    I like the accessories.

  • Charles Barthelme

Dress would have been better in a bluish gray. But it does look like a swim cap to me. And I don’t love the hair- too roaring 20s with that dress.

    • enid soto

“Dress would have been better in a bluish gray” or a very strong red (darker than the red carpet), just anything to take it away from skin disease territory. And get rid of the flower trims at the bottom, it’s just too much. The necklace, NO.

  • http://twitter.com/pag_baj Paige Boerman

It’s a beautiful dress and she looks beautiful in it, but it bothers me that it matches her skin tone so closely. Could’ve been a WERQ.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/UGFSSAYFPNER5HPV4GGZA3PMMQ Christiane

OMG, pale celebs, stop it with the skin-colored dresses! If this had been in an actual color! Also, yes, makeup! Smokey eye would have looked good with this.

  • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

This is a beautiful dress and I love the shape for her. It’s flowy, classy, and definitely not boring. But, I wish it were in a different color. The hair is acceptable but not fantastic. Overall, not a bad look.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ali.sharpe.6 Ali Sharpe

Not the best color for her. Jewelry’s a little weird. Also, the bottom of the dress looks like she walked through a field and little burrs got stuck to her.
