  • Merridith Kristoffersen

    Hideous.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

    Cafe curtains.  No.

  • Pupioso

    Ugh. AWful.

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Why are the curtains open on top and closed on the bottom? It’s a bad concept AND a bad color.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

      And, WHY yellow shoes?  bleeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh

  • MzzPants

    Cute shoes.

    • Amy Ellinger

Yes, they need to come my way!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

Love them! I’m so glad the ladylike shoe is making a comeback after all the bear traps.

      • bluefish

Amen!  One can only hope …

  • DinaSews

    She’s almost invisible.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

There’s that damned non-color again.  Hideous.  And the treatment on the bodice is odd-looking.  It creates the illusion that her breasts and ribcage are a mile wide.

    • mshesterp

Boob curtains!  Why would you want boob curtains?  They’re even worse on the model.

  • Sara__B

This is a dress for women with small breasts and dark skin, so, girl, this is not your dress.

    • kimmeister

Yes, this exactly.  Can you imagine how Zoe Saldana would’ve looked in it?

    • TheOriginalLulu

Definitely. It looks amazing on that model. Marion is a beautiful woman, but that’s Not Her Dress.

    • Judy_S

Yes, you’re right. I like the idea of it a lot, but not on her. On the other hand I like the shoes, and the fact that they fit.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

Yeah her boobage is making it very bunchy above the belt which also makes it look oddly stiff.

  • KELLEYKAT

The dress looks pretty on the model against her dark skin.  Not so much on Marion.  The narrower belt is better too.  I loooove the shoes on their own, but those colors don’t “go” for me.  Yellow & “flesh”.  Blech

  • http://twitter.com/skitzfiggitous skitzfiggitous

omigod women PICK. A. DIFFERENT. COLOR. ACK. Pick a color, period!

Also, it’s unfortunate that the blousy/belted silhouette on almost anything other than a skeletal frame or a model makes you look segmented. She’s going to be the prettiest little girl in her Sunday school class, though.

    • Anathema_Device

I know!! Her coloring is similar to mine, and I steer far, far away from such colors while shopping. Once a friend said I could wear that color. I said, “Oh really? Look at this.” I held it up to my neck, and my friend seriously RECOILED IN HORROR in what it did to my skin tone. I think her words were “Let us never speak of this again.”

  • Clueless_Jock

I wonder if Dior makes this in black?

  • tresfabuleux

Shoes: I like, but not with this dress.
Dress: Marion, ma cherie, this is not the dress for you. The color is not providing any real contrast with your skin AND you have the added benefit of the top giving you linebacker shoulders.
    Hair/makeup: meh.

  • lilibetp

I like the shoes.  They don’t go with the dress, but they’re quite pretty.

  • kikisayshi

It looks like curtains, but for some weird reason, I like the look. And LOVE the shoes!!

  • random_poster

    Oh Mighty Isis, Isis, Isis…

    Totally digging the shoes though.

  • Alyssa Stanfield

Love the shoes, don’t like the dress!

  • Anathema_Device

Ooof, no. The color makes her look sickly and the bodice makes her look like a linebacker. She is too stunningly French to wear clothes that make her look sickly and large. No. No. No.

  • filmcricket

Those shoes are fabulous, and the dress would be cute if her boobs didn’t have drapes. That bodice doesn’t even look good on the model – why would someone design a dress like that?

  • Cathy S

Girl, that’s not your dress. It looks good on the dark-skinned model though.

  • Melissa Brogan

Meh. The curtains are opening to reveal a show. Never a good dress concept in my book. It also makes her top half look incredibly wide.

Not enthused about hair or makeup. Cute shoes.

  • JasmineAM

The model is WERQing it. On Ms. Cotillard, I can just see pantyhose-colored boob drapes.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/ERAGBZ5N4EKD547DFXXDMJOBQ4 CRH

So agree. It looks great on the model, but sadly it does not on Cotillard.

  • mjude

    no, no & no

  • RebeccaKW

I sort of love the shoes.  that dress is hiddy.  She’s all linebacker up top, dirty dancing on the bottom.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/GTG3A5BVL3JGIFT5M4MSPWYNCM Mathilde

Color is not so flattering on Marion, but that chest fits her better than the model. Shoes are great. Not just the right color, too bad !

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1303837450 Lauren Dorsee Dillon

I love the shoes (they look like some thing I’d wear with a fun, kicky skirt). But the dress is horrid on her. Makes her trunk look thick and massive.

    • MilaXX

I agree the shoes look awesome and are probably comfortable because of the wider toe box. I think the lining is part of what’s adding bulk, but the color is still not for her.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Hate the dress. WANT those shoes. Not necessarily in yellow but want them nonetheless.

  • http://twitter.com/jaccpot Jackie Campagna

    That is NOT her color.

  • Lina_bee

Oh, Stylist FAIL. This is dreadful on her, but it would be fine on Zoe S.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JO2ZPMWZR7BENRHIQ7DYGJP2HQ Melanie

    Ick.  Love the shoes.

  • aimee_parrott

Ew.  Terrible color on her, she’s gorgeous and this completely washes her out.  It’s making her look very top heavy.  I think the shoes are cute on their own but definitely NOT with this dress.

  • Spreecord

Not one single thing about this look works. The shoes are the wrong colour and make me think of a

  • Scarlet39

    Wrong.  It’s just all wrong.

  • Spreecord

Not one single thing about this outfit works. The mesh takes those shoes from “hey, those are cute” to “geriatric hooker”.

  • TieDye64

    Say no to tit curtains.

  • http://www.MintaHall.com/ Minta Hall

    Oh. My.

Should we take up a collection to help this poor woman find a stylist?

  • http://twitter.com/KiraMac Kirstin McAulay

No, just no……  anyone with a gorgeous darker skin tone…. Zoe Saldana, can you imagine Alek Wek in this? amazing…. NOT a pasty girl…. (saying this as someone who is usually transparent!)

shoes also bad… nice style but wrong tone for bad dress and yellow is bad on pale girls as well

    try again please

  • HobbitGirl

I love the shoes, but the bodice just reads as tit curtains to me.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I love the runway version, but something went terribly wrong with Marion’s version. It’s so…bulky looking.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

    Boob curtains!!!

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

There is nothing here to love. Not even like.

  • schadenfreudelicious

wow, it makes her upper half look enormous, totally wrong shape for her figure, and the color (or non-color) is horribly unflattering….

  • http://twitter.com/Usama_Hamayun Usama Hamayun

Ok so now every post is gonna be on Whiteboard…where’s your bitchy commentary TLo? we want more of that?

    • MilaXX

We’ve gotten 7 post today full of TLo’s wit & wisdom. Have you missed them?

      Please read our introduction post:

  • J MN

It doesn’t work for her because Ms. Cotillard has boobs and it throws off the upper look.  Along with this ridiculous trend of blush, skin toned gowns that makes most women look washed out.  The shoe color just escapes me.  Why would any stylist or the person themselves even think to match up these two colors?   This would be an out or girl this isn’t your dress.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

This dress would (maybe) work on someone who is rail-thin, has no boobs, and darker skin — like the model. But not on dear Marion here.

  • MilaXX

Girl that’s not your dress.  One look at the model and even Stevie Wonder could see that. Even in a different color this wouldn’t work because those boob curtains or whatever that is make her  look top heavy. Also? Color is your friend.

  • ThaliaMenninger

Oh, dear. Marion Cotillard is a stunning woman, and yet she manages to do THIS to herself, ending up looking stumpy, washed out, like she forgot to wash her hair, and like she quickly fashioned shoes out of her grandma’s lawn furniture.

  • TAGinMO

She has too much chest for that dress. Plus, what’s with the Zellweger-face??

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=517890557 Willis Cramer Kliefoth

I’ve loved those shoes since I saw them on the runway, but haven’t yet seen a dress they really go with yet. This is not it. I don’t love it on the runway,at least the model is not too busty for it.

  • belfebe

    No.  Just no.

  • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

The sheer quality of the top from the model helps it, not so much when it’s opaque like Marion has it.  The shoes are ugly.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ENBX3563Q4ZNCVRGSJVFIB7OAA Thom

Damn it all, those ‘cafe curtains’ ruin it: if it were just a t-shirt and skirt, I’d love it.

But I still hate that gold belt, and ESPECIALLY object to the pale yellow shoes paired with a pale dress.

  • http://twitter.com/jaythenerdkid Aaminah Khan

    Dem linebacker shoulders.

  • Kolo_Ol

    no

  • Zippypie

    Oh no no no.

  • marilyn

Busty girls should not wear that style.  She looks very dowdy/matronly from the waist up.  Her shoes are yellow and her dress is peach.  Not a good mix.  She is pretty, but pale.  The dress is too close to her skin color, in a bad way.  A (faux) tan might help this one a little.  She is young, and should view this as a learning experience.

  • Donna Lanclos

hate the dress, love the shoes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Clydette-Wantland/673315286 Clydette Wantland

    Boring.  OUT.

  • AlexisPayne

Not working, too top heavy with the lining.

  • Nonnah

That looks more like a Michelle Williams dress.

  • formerlyAnon

    Not Her Dress.

    Great shoes, though.

  • http://twitter.com/Putting_On_Airs Kathleen

This dress looks like a poor window treatment on her and while I like the shoes they make no sense with the rest of the look. Not cute.

  • enchanted216

Looks gorgeous on the model, but not so much on her.  Definitely not a good color on her, very unflattering.

  • sashaychante

    Love the shoes

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

That V that the dress makes is terribly, terribly widening! No pretty little French girl, this is not flattering! Shoes are odd as well. And make up exists in France, no?

  • carpediva

She looks like a lacy linebacker.

  • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

Oh, sweetie. You are far too well endowed on top for this to be flattering.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

There’s nothing about this look that is the least bit flattering to her.

  • Allison Woods

    ick!

  • CQAussie

Fabulous shoes but girl that is not your dress!

  • PaulaBerman

It makes her look huge on top– so much better on the model.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

This dress looks kinda cute on the model, but I don’t know if Marion is pulling it off.

  • quiltrx

Obviously there’s such a thing as too much boob for a dress, and Marion obviously has it for this one.  The dress looks very different on the model.  On Marion it looks like curtains about to open on the grand opening of her torso.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/toodleskitty79?feature=guide AWS

HOLY CRAP that dress looks so different on the runway.

Ill-fitting and unflattering PLUS the shit-eating grin HAS GOT TO GO!

  • SatelliteAlice

I am just going to make a blanket rule here.  Boob curtains are never a good idea.  No exceptions.

    • makeityourself

Marion’s bodice immediately brought to kind the puppet theatre I made for my kids out of a cardboard box. It had curtains just like these.

And yellow shoes. What an odd idea.

  • NurseEllen

Mon dieu, c’est un cauchemar!  A nightmare, mon petite.  Tell the folks at Maison Dior “merci, but no” next time they press this awful thing into your hands.

  • clairellis

    Awful.

Some of these dresses have made my eyes bleed. This one included.

  • RzYoung

GORGEOUS shoes, HATE everything else. She looks anemic

  • calimon

Yellow shoes and gold metal belt? Ick, how tacky is that? And what is up with her hair? Honey, you are not in college pulling all-nighters in sweats and a ponytail (like me)!

  • sherrietee

Shoes are fine.  Why the hell is there drapery sewn to her dress?

  • bluefish

Interesting dress — She needed to straighten out that belt so that the waist seam was better hidden.

    I LOVE the shoes!

  • Jangle57

Love it on the model, absolutely hate it on her (except the shoes…)

  • http://twitter.com/Coloradowomyn Kimberly S-W

She has very well moisturized heels.  Don’t underestimate the effort required to keep those smooth.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VA5XLSF3QRELSC3MUFSXLP4EIE rebecca

As I started to scroll down, my thinking was, “ohhhh noooo, it can’t be that bad!” Yes. ‘Tis indeed. Wow, that is an unflattering look. The shoes on their own are kind of cool, though.

  • Anna Tree

The finest in recent Dior fug. I can’t wait until Simons shows a decent collection and I bet Ms. Cotillard is also eagerly anticipating said day.

  • SapphoPoet

Ugh. Very awkward and she looks uncomfortable. I like the shoes, though.

  • Blondella

The bodice makes her look like she has huge, saggy boobs and no bra.  And since when does a pale yellow shoe go with a nude dress?

  • eclare

    cute shoes.

  • Jennifer Hofstetter

Dress is weird and makes her shoulders look broad. Shoes are not the right color. Hair looks…meh. Too bad.

  • guest2visits

This looks so bulky on top compared to the model. Must be the sunshine, plus it’s been partially lined.
It’s a pretty dress, but it looks like it should be full length on Marion.  The shoes don’t belong.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

NO. This makes her look huge.

  • http://twitter.com/jessicapippin Jessica Pippin

    Wow. So unflattering. Sad day.

  • Hermione_Granger

Beautiful on the model, not so on Marion. White girls not allowed!

  • allisankelly

Boob drapes are NEVER a good idea, hun.

I’m sure the French words for “boob drapes” sound beautiful (les rideaux de boob?)and might cause one to agree to wear a dress with boob drapes. Alas,

En realite, les rideaux de boob sont terribles.

  • shopgirl716

Dress is unflattering but I love the shoes.  She’s tiny and this dress does not do her justice.

  • Charles Barthelme

I don’t love it, but those shoes are totally wrong. Some strappy brown roman looking sandals would have been better.

  • nancymae

Should have saved that one for a day after a major self tanning intervention. But then that would have still been weird.

  • enid soto

Hahaha poor Marion having to wear tit curtains. Maybe they’re projecting a film on her chest?

  • http://profiles.google.com/alison.sigman Alison Sigman

    LOVE THE SHOES…

    Hate everything else.

  • http://twitter.com/pag_baj Paige Boerman

Oh, Marion, No! She looks like she escaped from  a home…

  • reddhouston

That sure gives her a horrible shape up top…ugh.

  • http://twitter.com/nkk Nikki

It’s all washed out on her, but in a different color, it could be nice- I think in a jewel tone it could be quite lovely.  I don’t get this Dakota Fanning trend… I love those shoes (not the yellow per se, but fun anywho).  And I love the touch of solid gold belt.

  • http://twitter.com/nonchalantanna Anna

Love the shoes, love the dress – NOT TOGETHER.

  • Louise Bryan

Is she wearing shoulder pads?  You know, like football players.  And nude dresses, ugh  OUT

  • http://www.facebook.com/ali.sharpe.6 Ali Sharpe

Wayyyy too colorless and washed out. I feel like I can barely see her.

  • Reese_D

Reminds me of the Carol Burnett skit when she wears the curtains in Gone With the Wind.  I know, I know, I’m old.
