Soooooo-perb She looks terrific!  I love the color, the shape and the simple styling going along with this potentially OTT look.  Congrats to your stylist, Hon!

  • StelledelMare

I think there should be a rule in Hollywood that if your dress is within 2 or so shades of your skin tone, you are not allowed to wear it. Love the dress but I think it makes her look washed out. Everything else is great though.

    • Pannyx

I completely agree. Utterly wrong color for her. Could have been killer.

      • Judih1

I agree too and I think she needed a different hairstyle. But even with these quibbles, this is an improvement over her normal red carpet appearances

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PQUIUGKP7ZBLZJ6WAGEKXBA4TE Naddy08

I agree! Also, I’m not a fan of how the dress sits on the midsection.

      • lifetime_student

And its kinda baggy around the boobs.

    • http://twitter.com/noshadejustT Teri

This times ten. Love the jewelry.

    • http://twitter.com/teachersharon TeacherSharon

      Preach it!

  • Beth G

Good hair.  Interesting dress.  Needs boob support and a different color.  Not the worst I’ve seen her by a long shot.

    • makeityourself

No, not her worst, as you said. But once again, I’m sad because its sooooooo close.

Her makeup is superb and truly highlights her beauty.
Her hair is gorgeous but totally wrong for the dress and earrings. Way too Ren Festival Fairie.
Dress color — do we even need to discuss?
Saggy bodice. Looks sloppy, not sexy.

I keep waiting for this lovely woman to hit a home run. The fact that I am so invested in this is pathetic.

  • Anathema_Device

I wouldn’t normally like this color on her, but the sequins save it. Still, I’d like the dress better on her if it were a few shades darker. All the styling is perfection, though. She is finally stepping it up.

  • Paigealicious

LOVE that dresssss but her boobs look a little weird in the 3rd pic. Minor quibble though!

  • MissAnnieRN

The make up is bad or the dress is the wrong color or both. She looks consumptive. Lovely hair though.

  • minnye

I am beginning to detest that color but she looks pretty fantastic.

  • janetjb

So much better than her usual.  Her hair and makeup are pretty, but I can’t agree to the color (or lack).

  • http://profiles.google.com/amanda.leigh.albert Amanda Albert

Not enough contrast in the look…

  • Dan Flesher

This might be one of those “not your dress” situations. The matching of both her skin tone and that hair makes for a very bland look overall. But back to that skin colored material. On first (and on second) glance, it makes her look like she has wrinkly boobs. Maybe if it were in either a different color or if the fit wasn’t so loose it would have remedied that issue.

Also I wish she would have kept her legs together. It would have made for a much more elegant picture.

    • TheOriginalLulu

Agreed. What’s with the Superman pose?

      • calimon

Superman pose…thanks for nailing that on the head for me!

      • minnye

I’m sure this won’t be the next Red Carpet Pose, but I’d rather see Superman as inspiration than Gotta Pee or Pigeon Toed Schoolgirl or the current one, Broken Ankle.

  • http://twitter.com/LoveTeachPray Jennifer Swegler

This is a small werq (doesn’t quite deserve the capitals, but still, works for me).  She finally is getting it right (took long enough!)  She looks gorgeous and happy and finally relaxed on the red carpet.

  • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

SOoooooOOOo close…a different color and she’d have knocked this out of the park.

  • http://twitter.com/Arathriel Adrienn K.

Hair and make up: perfect. The dress, however, is not … she could have chosen a different colour and her boobs look a little weird in it.

  • Melissa Brogan

The only reason this dress is working is because the metallic is pulling the color away from her skintone. Kind of wish she were wearing a stronger lip color. Hair is pretty, like the earrings.

  • http://www.facebook.com/janet.selman Janet Selman

Looks gorgeous but she’d better not let those shoulders sag for an instant or the girls are escaping!  I shudder to think what would happen if she dropped her purse under her chair!

  • Pants_are_a_must

The girls needed more support, but the dress is gorgeous on her.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/toodleskitty79?feature=guide AWS

Hair needs frizz serum but other than that she’s lovely.  The shit-eating grin needs to go though…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=218100432 Dianna Li

Bionic Tess of the d’Urbevilles!  The rose gold goes nicely with her skintone and hair, but I wonder whether a red lip would have made more impact.  Bust area could have fitted a bit better, flyaways could have been tamed, and i can’t decide whether the nude semisheer areas are intended to be illusion netting or not.  At first glance this works but the more I analyse and overintellectualise the less I like it.

  • nannypoo

Her hair and makeup are great. The dress is a good idea badly executed. Fit and color are awful. How hard can it be to get this right?

  • HomeOfficeGirl

I really don’t like it – seems to pull focus to her belly?  (not that she has one..).  Surprised to see so many compliments on the hair – I think it’s kind of a mess.  She looks good… not great.

    • NinaBoo

Oh, I thought it was just me. The twisty thing with her hair is something I did in middle school and is memorialized in my class photo from that year. And I agree about the sequins, the color…ach, the whole thing is not flattering.

  • formerlyAnon

Huh. Better than it ought to be given the monochromatic effect (especially with her hair) & the slightly droopy/messy hair ends giving the frou-frou hem a droopy, messy feel (for me).

  • RebeccaKW

I actually like this on her.  Great hair and makeup.  Love the sparke.  Could be fitted better in the bust, though, or she needs some support bc in the last 2 pictures you can really see she’s got some extra room.

  • TheOriginalLulu

The sequin detail is keeping her from looking washed-out in this color, I think. It’s a lovely dress on her, but she needed to figure out a way to support the girls. They’re sort of flopping around. LOVE the flower-child hair and the simple makeup. She’s really gorgeous. Also, she just has a beautiful smile. Her face lights up.

  • PastryGoddess

surprisingly I like from the neck down.  Good job Jessica.   That hair on the other hand is horrifique

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I love it! I think the cress is gorgeous and it looks great on her. I think the sequins balance the fact that the dress is so pale and flesh-colored.

  • RzYoung

I think this is the type of colour that TLo might call ‘old hose’, in the UK we’d call it ‘old tights’. Not sure I like it, she looks so stunning in that other pink dress that I’m not sold here.

  • In_Stitches

It saddens me that this isn’t getting a full write up.  No, the dress isn’t perfect-the bust isn’t properly fitted, the color is akin to that of a drab, old bra (although I think it sets off her skin wonderfully) and it’s doing something weird around the hip in that first shot (unless she’s packing curvier hips than I previously remember), but for once, she finally brought FACE.  She’s looking more beautiful than ever.  I think it’s the darker brow that’s helping keep things balanced.

  • Super_Red

Stunning!! It’s doing some weird things around her midriff, but it is so oldschool “I’m a movie star, bitches” that I can’t help but adore!

  • http://twitter.com/nicolahearts nicole seligman

i know we’re all over blushy dresses, but i think this one leans close enough to mauve to really flatter her. hair and make up are impeccable. wrong earrings, imo. …and probably wrong shoes–it looks like satin platforms are hiding under there. *shudder*

  • marilyn

That color is great for close-in shots, but is awful from a distance.  For some reason, the shade of that dress makes the rest of her look sickly.

  • filmcricket

Great dress, terrible colour, gorgeous earrings, fix your hair.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

She looks great, though a bit washed-out. Oh Jessica, why can’t you ever get it 100% right?

  • Sophie Collier

Ooo, I like it.  The Game of Thrones hair and the “armor” plated dress.  LOL.  She looks very good, blush dress and all.

  • http://twitter.com/delysia_lafosse Delysia LaFosse

A huge improvement over many of her red carpet appearances, but the fact that the dress color falls smack dab in the middle of her hair and skin colors makes it less than ideal. Also, it is doing very unflattering things to the shape of her tits. I like the earrings on her and they look good with the dress without stealing attention from all the sequins. Her makeup here is not good, however.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

    I love this. So sparkly.

  • cmb92191

Interesting dress but needs a new color.  Hair looks a tad simple.

  • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

    want.

  • http://heartprintandstyle.blogspot.com Vivi N

Beautiful dress. Just not right for her complexion.

I like her ‘do, makeup and jewelry, though.

  • bluefish

Like it on her … That second photo of her is just stunning.  She’s so beautiful — unearthly almost.  She’d make a great Jane Eyre–Of course they’d have to plain her out out but that wouldn’t be hard.  With Ewan McGregor.  God, I would so love that.   Make it so.

  • clairellis

Looks good! Live the make up and the dress. Would like for her to wear and bra though.

  • AlexisPayne

I know I’m not supposed to condone flesh colored dresses, but she looks amazing!

  • Jennifer Hofstetter

Her makeup is pretty, but the hair doesn’t match the dress. Also, the dress color is…bleh. And is it just me, or do it not really fit in the boob area?

  • MilaXX

Despite the fact that the dress color is a bit too close to her skin tone. I like this look. Nothing earth shattering but works.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JO2ZPMWZR7BENRHIQ7DYGJP2HQ Melanie

There’s that “old bras” color again.  And her boobs look odd.

  • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

This really should have been a WERQ–she looks incredible.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VA5XLSF3QRELSC3MUFSXLP4EIE rebecca

Wow. Normally I’m not a big fan of her choices, but this almost worked. Almost because, as other posters pointed out, that color is wrong. But the fit, the glitter… well, she’s getting there.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

    Support! Support!

  • http://twitter.com/AmberAndronicus Fucking A.

You know, it could have been worse. I think this a really gorgeous dress on her and it fits her well. My only complaints are that the color washes her out and her make-up kind of washes her out too. She has gorgeous red hair and I wished that she had picked a dress that made that pop.

  • Judy_S

I like it. I actually like that color on her. Not so positive about the “support issue.”

  • Judy_J

It’s an interesting dress, but the fit of the bodice is really off.  This color is not really flattering, either.  She’s such a pretty girl….wish she would learn to dress herself.

  • http://www.thatwasdramatic.tumblr.com/ Anya

I love it! She looks so gorgeous. Hair and make-up look perfect.

  • Lisa Dugan

She looks really beautiful, especially the 2nd shot. Her hair color saves the color from being too blended with her skin.  The only problem is the top seems ill-fitting.

  • Srw27

She is stunning.  Love the “Khaleesi” braided hair in the last pic

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BUKL3CV3Y66UWR7BWYJMPSDRR4 Annie

don’t like the color, but that smile makes up for everything.

  • http://www.MintaHall.com/ Minta Hall

I really like this look. She looks gorgeous. I might have chosen a little brightness in the lip color, but that’s a twiddle, not a serious complaint.

  • Macy Augustus

This is how she SHOULD have looked at the Oscars- she’s never been better!

  • Ksagun13

That’s the first flesh-toned dress I think I’ve ever liked.  It’s a beautiful color on her, and the gold elevates it and makes it less fleshy.  However, it’s too loose around the bust.

Her smile in the second photo is just ethereal.  She looks really happy and that’s the best accessory of all.

  • Cathy S

The dress color washes her out but it’s beautiful. Her earrings are fantastic.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ENBX3563Q4ZNCVRGSJVFIB7OAA Thom

It’s an inspired dress, and I generally like the shape and decoration of the dress, but it’s more ‘ghostly’ than ‘ethereal’ on Jessica, what with the whole sepia ‘wash’ and paled-out skin (plus, this shade of chiffon is just a touch too rosy-beige to not look flesh-toned). Also, she needs to learn to pose in gowns, because the way the wind caught her skirt ruins the illusion of height. It’s all very lovely detailing, but just the wrong color on her.

  • http://twitter.com/thejackanory Charles

that borders on flesh coloured for her complexion, as well as being slightly draining. I’m ambivalent about the look considering it’s largely inoffensive.

  • ThaliaMenninger

That’s the best her makeup has looked on the red carpet. The dress is very unflattering to her boobage, however.

  • Snailstsichr

She so obviously feels beautiful in this dress that I can overlook a few flaws in the dress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

Salma Hayek: from now on, you should let all those Gucci dresses to Jessica to make them work.

  • http://twitter.com/Lola99959 Veronika Kaufmann

excuse me but how many events is this girl attending? I’ve seen her at at least 39 events wearing pale dresses. Boring.

  • BeeBeauNYC

She hit the nail on the head with this one – everything is great – dress, hair, makeup. She is usually so unphotogenic, but this look finally works to her benefit!!!

  • Zippypie

This dress doesn’t fit her at all in the bust – each boobage is going off in separate directions and she has no bra or support going on – it’s distracting me from the matchy skintone chiffon.  Not liking this.  Hair and makeup look lovely though.

  • Lina_bee

Oh, honey. Not your color, nor your hairstyle, nor your bralessness.  Good makeup, great jewelry, good overall energy, though.  In short, avoid the Gucci. It will betray you!

  • CarolinLA

What’s with all the warrior/breastplate dresses this season?  Is it because of the Republican War on Women?

  • newtonGOTbeaned

From the front it’s great, but from the side…Yeesh. I would have thought that Hollywood stylists would have figured out how to deal with boobs by now. Boob tape? Or something?

  • enchanted216

I love this color on her.  I think it looks lovely on her skin tone and with her hair color.  I like this Whiteboard concept.  Although I miss your commentary, it’s refreshing to see the original comments without the influence of your opinion, for the most part.  I’m sure you don’t always just want people agreeing with you all the time:)

  • MK03

Now see? That’s how you do it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1267225625 Susan Wheeler

Better than most nude dresses. The bust could fit a lot better.

  • guest2visits

I think it’s a beautiful dress and it works beautifully on her.   I don’t know why people have a problem with these nudie colors.
They’re supposed to be pale and transparent looking.   I agree that sometimes It may turn out pasty, depending I guess on the
person and the dress. But It’s supposed to enhance the bare skin look. This kind of looks like a pale blush-tone.

  • NurseEllen

The paillettes save her (somewhat) from the sin of fabric color too closely matching skin color, but a little sparkle doesn’t keep one from noticing the poor fit in the bodice.  Those girls need support and direction!  I love her hair–very Guinevere.  The earrings are perfect.

  • Susan Crawford

She is truly a beautiful, beautiful young woman – absolutely beautiful. The dress is a beauty, too, and despite a little fit issue in the bodice with the illusion net, she looks just lovely.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

    FAIL

  • TieDye64

Oooooooo, the fit through the bodice is a little tragic. The color’s not great. Why must she do this? She’s very pretty, but this ain’t working.

  • FlamingJune1967

    LUV!

  • http://twitter.com/Putting_On_Airs Kathleen

I’m not fond of the color on her, the bodice fit is atrocious and her flyaways are crazy. And am I the only old fuddy-duddy here that thinks a slip/underskirt would have been a good idea, especially when it came to the Wonder Woman pose?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Love this, but the hair is a bit casual for the dress.  Points for trying, dear.

  • http://twitter.com/MinaBinaXina MinaBinaXina

I wish it were in a color, but I think the sequins negate the normal “gross your skin is melting” look. He looks really beautiful.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QP4RBTAZX6QTHZZSJ2YT7DGO7Q Brittany

Love this dress. I actually don’t mind that it’s so close to her skin / hair tone, for once.

  • kikisayshi

Maybe it’s just the way the dress photographs, all sparkly and such, but this gorgeous gown is just not her dress. She looks great, but she needs to wear more color against that fair skin and hair. I really REALLY want to love it, but it’s not working out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

I don’t mind the color, seems like she up-ed the makeup to compensate. Her face looks A-MAZE. I do not, however, like the twee as shit princess bride hair. Why pull those tiny pieces back? Are you growing out your bangs or something? That’s the only time that little girl look should happen! It would look so much more big-girl-glam had it been all down and framing her face. Minor issues I suppose, looks fab.

  • Sunshine16

Gorgeous!  Too bad the bottom of the dress is the color of old bras!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=517890557 Willis Cramer Kliefoth

Very lovely and she looks so happy and pretty, but too washed out

  • allj

Hate the hair, love the dress

  • quiltrx

She looks beautiful, much better than many of her RC looks.  I just think a dress between the color of your hair and your skin is a bad idea for anyone, though.

  • SatelliteAlice

The bodice needs to be fitted better but I think it is a good look for her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001998855370 Fatima Siddique

If only that neckline fit properly over the cleavage, this would have been perfect. I think she’s pulling off the skin-toned dress pretty nicely. Maybe it’s the red hair that lets her get away with it.

  • reddhouston

    I think this is gorgeous!
